Yes they can...and yes they did! Actually, for me it was an illegal U-turn on the highway to the airport. He was very polite and professional and I was polite to him. He explained what I had done wrong and I was guilty. We visited in Spanish for a couple of minutes and he then offered to write me the cheapest ticket he could which was a "no seat belt" instead of the turn infraction. He showed me on the ticket how to go online to get the numbers I'd need to pay at Bancomer for 1/2 price if paid promptly. He showed me his name and badge number on the ticket as well. He never asked for a mordida and I never offered one. I didn't mind getting the ticket since I have bent my share of traffic laws over the years. Figured I was due... Alan6 points

So now the National Guard is part of the military along with Mexican Defense Secretary General Salvador Cienfuegos who AMLO brought back to Mexico in a heartbeat from the US after his arrest on drug charges. Cienfuegos knows where the bodies are buried. Move along, nothing to see here.3 points

There is another reason to not plant from seed, one much more disappointing.3 points

The Federal police are gone and have been for a while. Former Federal police barracks now say National guard. In other words they have replaced the Federal police. Cars have been repainted and new trucks bought. Problem is many have still not been trained. Talked to a bunch of them at the coast. They were extremely polite and quite fun to talk to. Wave to them when they pass in the trucks which is quite often lakeside. They were suppose to have a barrack in Chapala but money ran out.2 points

You'd be lucky to get fruit that soon (some can take 20 years from seed) BUT you are NOT guaranteed to get the "same" tree. That's why avocados are grafted.... the variety you want on a strong base plant. Nursery-bought plants will have that. Look for one where the graft is quite low, looks really well grown into itself and is not bent at a strange angle, so that trunk will be strong as the tree matures. You'll get fruit in 2-3 years, depending.....2 points

No it isn't! And you don't need to KEEP 10 females as long as you (normally) have one of each. But you do have to learn the difference in the flowers to tell the sex of the tree. I got super lucky with the last one I started from seed. ... it's a hermaphrodite so not not only self-pollinates, it also produces long, lean fruits instead of huge roundish ones. Funny thing is I was down to two plants, one being the stronger looking, but then that plant got injured so I reluctantly cut it off at ground level, and low and behold the survivor had both male and female flowers.😁 Produces like crazy! Today we will cut it off about 4 feet from the ground as it's gotten tall and weak, and encourage the one side branch already fruiting plus more to come form below. My friend Mr. Google says this works, so will follow instructions and cross my fingers.2 points

No different than the elections, only the colors change. Same police but in white trucks.1 point

Better hoard beer now before the national guard drinks it all.1 point

United and American require you to pay upfront, then request a refund (at least when you book online). American refunds (credit to cc) post in 3 or 4 days. United is slow on refunds....10 days usually. When we flew Delta, it was an Aeromexico code-share and Aeromexico staff asked to see our RP's and did not charge it (we were in person at airport, last minute change of plans as our United flight was scheduled to go through Houston the day of that infamous February snowstorm).1 point

If you have a Samsung smart TV connected to the internet, "Samsung TV Plus" was introduced in Mexico earlier this year. This provides users with several free streaming TV channels, some of which are now showing Olympics coverage. Believe it or not I don't have time to baby sit every single thread on this board. I've told you and others a thousand times to PM me or another moderator if you think a thread has gone toxic. So either do that or stop complaining. Closed.1 point

I would try this route first or hire a lawyer. My neighbour had great sucess hiring lawyer Adrian Perez. The offending tree was quickly cut down by the owner.1 point

Sure enough. I wouldn't be as drastic on the flavors though. The A and B variety of bloomers makes the mixing and it's tough odds on the phenotype. There is a silver solution for getting a plant to flip out genetically so to say and produce seeds from a female flower of itself There's a lab in India good at genetics that makes and sells lots of stuff even stuff for getting a piece of a plant to grow from a part of plant placed in it. Those solutions are not the kind of thing anyone would want to be exposed to for darn good reasons. It figures the California companies selling seeds are using one of the methods mentioned above or have controlled greenhouses for pollinating. Not all of them are approved for export. The GEM seeds come with a stipulation that the seeds can't be used for commercial purposes unless paying on a different plan I didn't care to ask for. Grafting and trimmings is a great way. The little only ladies are masters of wiggling trimmings out of friends and neighbors. A late friend had a double flower hibiscus plant he got from outside a medical clinic after asking for a trimming. Plant grew up then people walking by knowing that they were seeing a rare flower variety would ask him for a trimming.1 point

Alert to all readers here: I tried this option, and Xoom / Paypal charged it as a cash advance / wire transfer, instead of a purchase. So the credit card that is linked to my Paypal account was charged a cash advance fee of $3.50 dollars, PLUS they charge interest on the amount of the payment from the time the "purchase" is made. I would highly recommend, based on my experience, NOT to use Xoom / Paypal, although I am informed that using a debit card linked to the Paypal account, instead of a credit card, may avoid this issue. I assume also having a balance on one's Paypal account, could also do that. FYI so you don't get the same hit that I did......and if anyone has further info on this, please post it back here. Thank you.1 point

We have some visitors from Mexico City and they wanted to see the peacocks so we ate at the Peacock Restaurant yesterday. After being seated we found one of our party had stepped in poop. We found there was two significant piles of it, either from a peacock or probably a dog. We were moved to another table and later another couple came in and were seated at the same table and again one of them stepped in it. When we left over an hour later it was still there for people to step in. Menu wise one man reported his steak was very good. All of the rest of us reported our meals were less than satisfactory. I had fish and chips and they were some of the worst I've had lakeside. I don't think I will ever be returning to this restaurant.1 point

USAA has been advertising nation wide. I'm sure that eats a lot of customer service agents up. Could be the hours that you call coinciding with advertising. I think you can do everything online can't you? Probably even a chat box where a helper can guide you through.1 point

Remember what Natasha says. You can leave the fruit on the tree for around a year gravity and plant health willing. Planting an avocado from seed it's around 8 years till thee first fruit. Yah long time. I'd look for a new breed called GEM or JIM avocado that only grows to 6-8 foot high producing a round avocado. The bumps will be a yellowish color. The 1/4 honey with 3/4 water spritzing flower areas works great to assure bees pollinate plenty of the flowers and there are lots of flowers when the plants bloom. Be watchful like having routine to see if flower buds are starting. There's an A and B type plant with the two having morning or afternoon periods of flower openings and closing. Tough game Fantastic plants. Avocado trees can get sunburned from heat and sun. If a freak heatwave hits try shading the tree. Some California growers were using a whitish stuff to spray on the trees to block the sun during heatwaves.1 point

Please keep in mind that Mexico has a limited supply of vaccine, unlike the US. Everyone who gets a 3rd shot is taking vaccine away from someone who needs to get a first shot. Wait until the vaccine is available from private clinics.1 point

I think you are referring to Cremería Mi Ranchito which is behind the plaza or better said behind the Mercado Municipal on the corner of López Cotilla and Júarez streets.1 point

Avocado and Papaya are pretty well available year round here. Right now they are harvesting Mangos and Tuna fruit. If they wait too long to harvest mangos, they get infested with worms. Tuna fruit, is a delicious Jalisco favorite. It is fruit from Prickly Pear Cactus. If you find some in the wild, bright red when ripe, get someone to show you how to handle them. If you touch the outside fuzzy skin, like Kiwi, you will itch for weeks! You have to burn off the fuzz over a flame. Fresh Mangos and Tuna, worth seeking out. I prefer the green mangos, just starting to turn red and yellow. Papaya is good green, shredded for salads, etc. Actually most Papaya consumed in the world is green. Papaya is difficult to grow, because you need one male plant, for ten females. That is a lot of Papaya!1 point

https://harvesttotable.com/how-to-plant-grow-and-harvest-avocados/ This site is quite informative about harvesting, and a few others things. Your photo looks a lot like the Hass variety, and if this is the case, fruit can be left on the tree as long as 8 months, picked a few at a time, brought indoors, wrapped in newspaper, and checked daily. Or you can store in the fridge for quite some time and then ripen at your schedule. There is, however, a time limit after which fruits will not be as tasty. DO NOT pick all at once!! The one thing you really need to know is they are shallow rooted and if you overwater you can kill them. Been there. Done that.(Well, landlord's handyman did.... but I would have stopped him sooner if I'd known) Enjoy!!1 point

What ever works is better than what Big Pharma has done to ruin our lives just for the almighty dollar--10's of thousands of lives have been ruined and lost, so they can play god-will big pharma stop the slaughter?-NO; not yet; they are not through wringing every last dollar from us--and the best part is these jab companies are free of liable--what a sweet deal that is---HA I hear that Pizer has produced another 250 million jabs just to finish off--OH; and the buyers remorse is going to be "Biblical"-we have fires ; disease; wars; drought; floods; all that is left is the locusts and more;-where famine will happen !0 points

Been through this so many times, in a village near Puerto Vallarta, called El Tuito they make a wonderful rich and creamy Queso Fresco. They slowly get very popular, and then disaster-someone gets listeria, etc. They are using unpasteurized milk, which is delicious, but dangerous. Do not buy it, please.0 points
