  7. Well I have. Dam power in Seattle electric cars make sense for many reasons. Oil power in Mexico does not for my lifestyle. I walk most places thus the low KM (4000km/year) on the car so electric cars don't make sense for me. Others who drive more or live in highly polluted local conditions might have different results. In addition to carbon stuff you need to include money costs into the numbers which most studies do not include. When you buy an electric car you spend 40,000USD plus I spent 9000USD on my Micra. As you said do the math and for me it makes no sense. Others mileage may vary of course.

  13. It takes political will to tackle climate change (yes I know its also a 4 letter word for many). Tesla and Nikola are US born products. Tesla currently has 2 large factories in the US (California and Nevada) and are currently in the process of building one in Texas. They are also building a factory in Germany and in the process of enlarging their factory in China. You mention Mexico, I agree that using oil to generate electricity makes no sense. Mexico has all the sun you could dream of but it would take the government to think green, but I doubt that will happen given the level of corruption (Guadalajara just bought 30 electric buses for the northern route, its a start). Also, I hade no idea that Texas had so many wind farms until they all froze up ☹️. Europe is leading the way, followed by the US by cutting off ICE cars by around 2030. The cost of battery production is dropping faster then I can blink an eye. Being an electrical engineer, 20 years ago I would have laugh at the possibility of an electric cars. Finally, I have no grand children and will be gone in about 10 years, so who cares about the environment. But I have hundreds of Mexican friends with children and hope they will have cleaner air to breath.

  14. We just bought a property--an old family compound--in Ajijic Centro that has been abandoned for several years and more. We need to have the junk removed. Several rooms were lived in and walked away from; old, probably broken appliances remain; discarded household and personal belongings are littered around. Weeds and small trees have grown up. Any recommendations for a service or persons who can haul it all away and sweep out the place? Thanks.

  19. Wow. Because they have the background and the knowledge that you don't? Do you take your car to a mechanic? Do you hire plumbers or electricians or carpenters when you need them? Do you climb tall trees that have to be pruned? Do you hire legal advice when needed? etc. etc. ? I'm not saying take the FIRST one since it's advisable to get multiple opinions (at least three) for anything that you yourself are not qualified to do. But, holy moly, that's an incredible statement for you to make.

  20. We have done the trip many times:) We generally cross early and only drive about 7 hours a day because of the dogs. We stay the first night in Navajoa at the Best Western Del Rio and the easiest way to book a room is by phone: 52 642 425 5300 They do have a restaurant, not the best restaurant but edible and you do not have to leave the premises and they will even bring it to your room. Nice pool area. Pet friendly of course. Just a word to the wise….the last 2 times we drove through Navajoa 2 city cops tried to get money from us by saying our TIP was expired which of course was not. I have read other reports about these two. If stopped just keep saying no comprende espaniol and they will eventually leave you to your business. We generally spend the second night at Hotel El Descanso Inn just off of the 15d highway in Mazatlan. Low cost, pet friendly, pool and breakfast is included but make sure to get a room in the building not connected to the office…….seriously much better beds. The ones in the building with the office are rock hard:/ You can book a room with them at Booking.com Then it is about a 6 1/2 hour drive to Lake Chapala:) Both spots have parking right in front of your unit and a night guard that keeps an eye on things:)

  23. Assuming you are interested in bacterias/biologicals (such as e-coli, etc.), any of the local labs that you go to for blood tests can do this for you. If you are after a full spectrum including metals, you need to go to Guadalajara - there are several labs there that do them. All of the municipal wells are tested on a scheduled basis to the standard NOM-127-SSA1-1994 used by Conagua here in Mexico.

  24. Marco, and his charming and lovely wife, were riding his motocycle when they were rear ended at the Walmart entrance mess. The bike was totalled and they spent the night in hospital. The driver of the vehicle says he cannot pay to replace the bike, and has no insurance. So Marcos has come up with an ingenious plan to raise the 18,000 pesos he needs for another motorcycle, which he uses for delivery. Right now, he is borrowing a friend's bike. The deal is you pay 1,000 pesos, he records your name and deducts any meals you purchased at El Rey Taco. Tonight the special is grilled garlic shrimp, with cob corn, and something else tasty - or, slow cooked beef cubes cooked in a French style like Bournigon, with generous sides. Great food at great prices. His Father is a professional Chef from France and he has gone to a trade school for a Chef certificate, worked all over Mexico, but Chapala always draws him back. Super nice young couple.

  27. Another old one… "An older lady gets pulled over for speeding"... Older Woman: Is there a problem, officer? Officer: Ma'am, you were speeding. Older Woman: Oh, I see. Officer: Can I see your license please? Older Woman: I'd give it to you but I don't have one. Officer: Don't have one? Older Woman: Lost it, 4 years ago for drunk driving. Officer: I see...Can I see your vehicle registration papers please. Older Woman: I can't do that. Officer: Why not? Older Woman: I stole this car. Officer: Stole it? Older Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner. Officer: You what? Older Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun. Officer 2: Ma'am, could you step out of your vehicle please! The woman steps out of her vehicle. Older woman: Is there e a problem sir? Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner. Older Woman: Murdered the owner? Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please. The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk. Officer 2: Is this your car, ma'am? Older Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers. The officer is quite stunned. Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license. The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer. The officer examines the license. He looks quite puzzled. Officer 2: Thank you ma'am, one of my officers told me you didn't have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner Older Woman: Bet the liar told you I was speeding, too. 28. The little chonk of cutness has a new home! Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and care. During my very early morning walk, I stumbled over a puppy that was desperately trying to get my attention by clinging to my legs. He was wet, cold, and very hungry (he's now dry, warm and full). We absolutely can't keep another dog, so if anyone would like a little chonk of cuteness, please contact me at 332-617-3588. He is your typical mix and should grow to be a medium-ish/slightly larger sized dog (but this is just a guess). (sorry, not the best pics)

  30. According to the Reporter, there are three testing stations each with four lanes. It takes fifteen minutes to test each car meaning four per hour each lane. 4X4 is sixteen cars per hour at each station. 16X3 is 48 cars per hour. If they are open 12 hours a day that is 576 cars per day. If there are 177,000 cars with plate ending in "7" then, if they are open Sundays also, it will take them 308 days just to get the first number done. They need to get busy with new stations or this will soon become another income stream for Transito cops asking for mordidas. They should also exempt car models newer than 2011 models. Those cars will all do better than the minimum test standards and the state knows it. But that would cut into the revenue stream they have created with the testing. What will the "new money" be spent on? Probably not on road work, trash collection, sewer and treatment plants, etc. I'm guessing it will just disappear into the money funnel that is government everywhere. There might be a slight improvement in air quality but they could achieve the same improvement by only targeting the worst offenders by impounding vehicles with visible smoke coming from the tailpipe. 31. Thanks for the kind words! Please pass the word to anyone that might even be thinking of adopting a pet. This little guy is a cutie. He's got lots of energy, is very quick and is very affectionate. I know there are a lot of dogs out there that need a home, but I hope someone out there has space for this little charmer.
