  1. I've also flown many times with no problems. Hopefully my Sunday flight will be the same. BUT this is about their website which leaves a lot to be desired. Better than it used to be but.....

  2. I've been going to Ophthalmologists since I was three. I tried three here before I found Dra. Camacho. She knows her stuff... and I purposefully told her nothing about my past history to test her. She knew exactly the problem in five minutes of examination. To make a long story short, I now have a small cataract growing on the only eye that works. She did not rush in to do surgery right away. She said we will watch and wait until there is no other option but the surgery. I have faith in her and her abilities... so do several of my friends.

  3. Yes, also the brother-in-law (I think Paulina's husband) has a day at the Chapala office, he did one of my surgery follow-up checks. Dr. Claudia performed my surgery (the machine did most of the work under thier control) and sister Pauline was right at her side. The mother also is an ophthalmologist...amazing family!!!

  4. I do not wish to be argumentative BUT the "official" link that you posted above does NOT have the correct dates shown for either Chapala OR Jocotepec. I know people OVER 60 who got shots at BOTH locations TODAY. Ooooops.

  5. So typical: not including the year.

  7. I'm 73, not been vaccinated before. Got my shot today in Chapala. If you don't have a registration form don't worry they are set up to get it for you, do need the other documents though. They started at 8 and we were out by 10. Very well organized.

  8. GO!!!!!! you are eligible. That is assuming you are an older adult who has not been vaccinated, The official website says: so it is your clarification!!!!! Se vacunará a las personas de 50 años o más y mujeres embarazadas de más de 9 semanas de gestación, mayores de 18 años, que vivan en los municipios que encontrarás en la lista. 10. I was there today (Monday) at the Technology Institute, arriving about 10. The vaccines arrived around 11. Vaccinations geared up about Noon and I was out by 1 pm. As for paperwork before entering the Auditorium, they wanted my printed CURP, printed "mivacuna" pre-registration page and preferred the copy of my passport over the copy of my Permanente card. They didn't ask me for any additional information. Now, of course, we all know things can change throughout any given day at any given site, depending on a variety of factors. I think we're pretty accustomed to bringing copies of everything they could possibly want in an effort to not waste a trip or have to return home for more documentation. Feels GREAT to be vaccinated! VIVA!!! VIVA MEXICO!!! Salud, Val

  11. We did go today. I got 3 oldtimers vaccinated 77, 83, and 90 years old. Astrazeneca. We cheated a bit as our Mexican helper's husband works in Joco city hall. They were given special treatment-driven up to the vaccination site, quick access and then driven home after. It is a long, hot hike up from the carretera. We werealso given more advance warning of the vaccination. It took about 4 hours.

  12. I joined the line at 9:10 and was all done and out the door at 11:40 at the Instituto on the Libramiento. Auditorium was nice and cool. SO organized, SO efficient and a huge improvement over the first time that I tried to get the vaccine at Parque Christiania.

  13. Booked online and flown Volaris many times pre and post Covid. For me easy to book sometimes with the app and sometimes online. Never had a cancelled flight.

  14. Last night a lot of lightning between 4pm and 8pm south of mt. Garcia and northeast of Ocotlan and around Zamora . Very close to us. Can't see if it rained last night in those locations but Lagos de Moreno reported rain last night. Forecasts for al 3 areas are 95% possibility of rain after 5pm tonight. Who knows.... Also El Gigante Michoacán, on the rio Lerma, reported good rain last night which is good for the lake.

  16. It appears labs must report positive test results to MXN health authorities. This from the lab that partners with AeroMéxico for reduced testing prices for their passengers. The tests strictly adhere to the national and international guidelines, protocols and standards established by the Institute for Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE). Additionally, following the implemented protocols, we comply with the obligation to immediately notify the corresponding health authorities of reactive or positive COVID-19 results for their respective clinical and epidemiological follow-ups.

  17. OK, good. I had read elsewhere that the International Health Certificate is no longer needed as of Dec 2019. Probably best to keep the used Flea and Tick prevention container.

  18. False positivity very low with antigen tests. https://www.hearthsidemedicine.com/post/rapid-covid-tests-we-have-them-but-how-accurate WHAT DOES A FALSE NEGATIVE OR FALSE POSITIVE MEAN? In those who don’t have symptoms, the false negative rate — meaning my test is negative but I actually have the disease — can be as high as 50%. This can have tremendous consequences as we try to contain the spread of COVID-19. The false positive rate — meaning I test positive but I do not really have the disease — is quite low. So, if you test positive from a rapid test it is more likely you do have the disease.

  23. Dra Camacho is difficult to get to see because she is so busy. I see her sister Paulina in the same office and have been very happy.

  24. Unless you are the first to arrive just follow the crowd. Taxi's know where it is. The Ajijic Ixtlahuacan bus uses the Libramiento and stops there. There is a shaded bus stop on the north side of the street for return.

  26. I recently went shopping at Pancho's for some of those oddball things that are a little hard to get since, well, they're odd. Normally, I only go in for a paper and one or two items, but yesterday I decided to do a little exploring since they've expanded. Wow, it's definitely worth the trip! Before, the place always seemed a bit cramped and not well organized, but now that it's expanded into two sides, it's all super-clean and tidy. There was a small, but varied selection of frozen vegan & vegetarian meals, lots of veggies, decent amount of frozen goods, and the usual imports and/or Costco run items. I wasn't much of a fan when it first opened, but if you haven't been there in a while, I really recommend it. The only negative (and it's not a biggie) is walking between the diners when you go from one section to the other. The restaurant section was quite busy, so I think I'll give it another try. If it matches the shopping, well, they'll have another loyal customer.

  28. Huh??? Restaurants here have charged IVA (embedded in their prices) for a long long time. We went to Magana's at least monthly since we arrived in 2008 until he moved. I don't at all remember his prices jumping towards the end. You said you went ONCE....me thinks you are making things up.

  29. We went back multiple times, though not for burgers. Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding; and also the aforementioned Fish n Chips. And a few other sandwiches. His home-made bangers (which he also sold raw in a few different flavors/styles) were excellent; we kept some in our freezer. Ribs, but they may have been on special, not regular menu. Don't remember exact prices, but they were certainly not out of line with other eateries at that time. Not by a long shot.

  30. You either “got” him or you didn’t. I got him — and his food. He was (and probably still is) a real character. I will never forget his hand printed signs all over the women’s bathroom. Some people were very insulted by them. They cracked me up. Every time he had to clean up an overflow because some dumbass thought she was special and could flush her toilet paper there’d be another sign. They started off politely asking and each one grew increasingly angry and profane.

  31. No argument here. I note that there are several highly-priced restaurants here, and there are a large number of retired expats with a lot of money, who don't really care how much a meal costs, except in a reverse manner: the pricier it is, the better it must be. They always manage to keep places like 4 alive, for a while.

  32. I guess it's the person who does the surgery, do the aforementioned do the surgery? There are many good clinics in Guadalajara Many years back I had both mine done at the same time, super guy who I can't remember only that he also worked for IMSS. At that time they had 3 machines, 1 was broken, 1 reserved for children and a "old method " machine.
