  1. This would actually be funny, if it weren't so true.

  2. Harry (and Hector) only speak for and to Chapala residents. El Chante is in Jocotepec, is it not?

  3. Absolutely true here and I don't care where it was actually filmed.

  5. There has been BBQ since the first piece of dino meat landed in a fire. I don't think much is going to change.

  6. I would replace all the pipes.. chances are if the system is old it’s rusted out, if you fix that leak it will probably leak somewhere else, As big a job as it might be do it once and be done with it..

  7. Pedro, your health is yours, so your lack of adverse effects from charcoal grilling doesn't necessarily contradict what has been found for others. Since I have a few serious health problems, I'm not going to engage in dining behavior based on your experience. The risks to health are one thing, but there also evidence that environmental damage results from charcoal grilling. As in all things, it's a matter of individual choices. As a long ago former heavy smoker, I am experiencing the sorry end results of that choice.

  8. Thre are many species of fragrant Jasmine that do well here. The night blooming one has a very strong scent.

  9. The complaining isn't really about Harry-it is about the lack of any information west of Ajijic. We had gotten to rely on Harry but we should not have.

  10. I am almost 78 and have been bbq-ing and smoking, campfire cooking meat fish and crustacea, using charcoal, briquette and wood since I was about 18,continue to do so and have experienced no adverse effects from doing it. I have had 2 PET scans. The "alleged health hazard" is quite low and worth ignoring.

  11. The nightjar that is found in this area is the Buff Collared Nightjar. I haven't yet heard one this spring but expect them to start calling any time now.

  12. If you google "health hazards of charcoal grilling" you'll find a number of articles on the tradofff for that cooking option. In my opinion, it's not worth it. If it's a good piece of meat or fish, it doesn't need to be "flame kissed" to be plenty tasty.

  13. Because Mexico gets so much of its propane from the U.S. and there was a recent supply disruption due to weather there there has been a bump in prices. Will that go back down in a few months? Maybe at least some. Of course if Mexico ended the Pemex monopoly on petro energy they might not have to import over half their propane...

  14. As far as I know Ivan who runs the store next to the old Maskaras clinic is not her son. But he is excellent. Always tries to help me find what I need. He will even deliver.

  15. All the Lantanas in my north Texas area are either annual or perennial. Many of them could be evergreen in Lakeside. This is the "New Gold" Lantana in my front yard. https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/59488 Only grow up to two feet high, but can spread easily to 6 feet wide. How big is your yard? Drought tolerant. Love full sun. Not picky about soil. No pest problem. Easy to propagate by cutting.

  16. Although there are a lot of folks using RVs these days... and the Industry had a bumper sales year.... I doubt that this fact is driving up the International price of propane. Propane prices are generally stable, rising some each year. Propane can be stored in tanks whereas natural gas gets produced and sent right into the supply chain. The recent debacle in the south (Texas/Okla/La/etc) caused an unusual situation with regards to fuels. This is more likely the cause for any unusual hike in propane pricing.

  17. They should but won't go to the trouble if someone doesn't specifically ask for alternatives. That's why I recommended Farmacia Maskaras. Customer service above and beyond but talk to the Jefe there because the younger man knows boodiddleysquat.

  18. I wonder way there always seems to be "the regulars" who seem to digress from the main substance of the original post to pontificate about their personal reasons for doing or not doing..Facebook etc etc. If you don't like Harry's message just work around the alternative, but please don't kill the messenger
