  1. With apologies to RickS that Pandemic Side Effects thread got so ugly I had to delete it. Unfortunately some of you proved Rick's point all too well. It could have been humorous and fun and seemed to start off that way. I can see a crack down on getting personal and nasty is needed here again. Consider this a warning.

  2. Nah, I just quoted and gave the link. Obviously things differ in different places. In the end, it is quite clear that a certan amount of undergraduate work is a definite requirement. On the other hand, I have never heard a plane annoucement that there is a drunk on board and "is there someone from A.A. on the flight"? I won't go into the details of my own various back problems over the years, but if you felt the pain I have and the relief I got from chiropracters, you'd know it ain't no placebo effect. This argument has raged for years and won't be decided upon here. I say if it works for you, go for it. And it don't, don't.

  3. I am not looking for an argument but gold fish and koi are cold water fish not needing the same care and attention as tropical aquarium fish. Since there is no chlorine in the local water and temperature is of little concern, I would fill the pond with water from the garden hose. The temperature change of the water would be way too slow to shock your fish. You might wish to find the reason for the water loss before topping off the pond.

  4. Well, the expected has happened. Coming from the east to WalMart, the traffic was at a standstill beyond the hospital at Chula Vista. There also doesn't appear to be any legal way to enter the parking lot after waiting 30 minutes to get there. We waited where the light is now working that lets cars go across in front of Autozone from the libramiento and just waited until there was a small break in traffic and turned left with no left turn light. I guess the only way in legally is to turn right at the libramiento, make a u-turn and go straight at the light. The only way, out if heading west, seems to be to exit at the light at the east end and turn left heading west, if the cars aren't blocking the intersection, and then wait through a couple of light changes to continue west. When leaving we saw several traffic cops directing traffic about as efficiently as the lights were operating. I asked a WalMart employee how we were supposed to enter from the east and he suggested (seriously) to turn left where the construction east of WalMart is and the drive up the lateral the wrong way and then enter the east side exit illegally. I told him we would probably just shop at Soriana when we need a trip to a large store. Thankfully we have a very nice abarrotes near our house for much of what we need and Pancho's is not too far. Can't wait to see what high season and midday rush hours looks like! Alan

  5. Like most places, the things that they don't put in the inflation index.....you know, those minor things like food, energy, and housing, have all gone up a lot. But..."there's no inflation, folks"..... Good thing is that solar covers both electric and gas so that helps a lot.

  6. It doesn't affect retired Canadians and Americans much. It definitely affects those of us who have businesses here and get paid in pesos. I have the impression there aren't too many in that category Lakeside, but there are plenty in my area.

  7. Restaurant meals, while still reasonable by U.S. standards, have gone up a lot IMO. Tolls are even more ridiculous than they used to be. Gasoline and LP gas though changes in our systems have really controlled the latter. SIMAPA charges. Drugs and doctors Rent for those who rent and not own.

  8. Toll roads contracts allow the private "owners" a yearly increase up to 10% and they must use most of that for upkeep and improvements.

  10. Substantially? Nothing that effects me. I am concerned about some of my very low income Mexican friends and acquaintances by the cost increase in basic staples. Gasoline price has risen enough to cause a spike in transporting all goods around Mexico.

  11. Absolutely true! I refuse to give up and am open to options. Eating tadpoles is not one of those options though.

  12. It would appear from Andy Panda's post that they do things differently in Canada. As in every profession, 50% graduated in the bottom half of their class. I have been both helped and hurt by Chiropractors. If you find a good one, they are worth their weight in gold. Victor Youcha is a good one and I'm sure there are others.

  15. In the US, "chiropracters are licensed practicioners. Chiropractors begin their education by getting an undergraduate degree with a focus on the sciences. After graduation, they move on to a 4-year chiropractic program with classes and hands-on experience. All states in the United States require that chiropractors obtain a doctor of chiropractic degree from a Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) accredited college." https://www.healthline.com/health/are-chiropractors-doctors In Canada, they "are regulated in all 10 Canadian provinces, and are designated to use the title “doctor” similar to physicians, optometrists and dentists after completing the extensive Doctor of Chiropractic degree program. Those professions who are recognized to use the “doctor” title have extensive training in their area of expertise that allows them to be diagnosticians – to provide a diagnosis." https://chiropractic.ca/blog/the-top-6-common-myths-about-chiropractic-treatment/

  16. So there is no confusion this is THE place we regularly order delivery from. There is NO restaurant and the offerings we've had so far were outstanding totally fresh and delivered on time. The egg rolls are the best available here by far. I have Eduardo on speed dial.

  18. To travel by air to the US, you need to show the airline a Negative Antigen Test, taken within the past 3 days. The US will also accept a negative PCR test. To travel by air to Canada, you need to show the airline a Negative PCR Test, taken within the past 3 days. Canada will not accept an Antigen test. The test must be done by a lab certified by the prevailing health authority in the Country you are departing from; to my knowledge all the local labs doing these tests are certified.

  26. Chiropractors are not health care but are professional... conmen. Message people make many feel better but do not say they are doctors. I have a cousin that went to chiropractic school but quit because he could not continue the deceptions of the trade.

  27. Chapala is David Tingen of Chapala Real Estate, the owners of this board. Mod 2 is me, Mainecoons, Dan Houck Mod 5 is Pete Johansen, posts under "Johansen." Three and Four are inactive. classified are staff of the Ojo. They only deal with the classified section and coordinate it with the print classified of the Ojo. This board is set up with Mods separate from members and a Mod can chose to be both. I believe the mods on TOB go under their actual or member names. Now I'm going to put on Mod 2 hat and close this thread since your question has been answered. If you have other questions about board moderation please address them to me, Mod 5 or Admin Chapala. Further questions of this type please address to any or all of us via PM. Thanks.

  28. I suggest that you, by using the word "they", are painting a whole group with the same brush which is really not the case. Any Chiropractor that I have had dealings with have said that they are a Doctor of Chiropractic. Granted my example is very small for statistical purposes-eh!
