  8. There's still no vaccine for fear. All governments' statistics are suspect as there is a lot of money and media pressure involved. Certainly no one wants to get sick with anything, but these restrictions undermine the health of the individual and the cost both economically and physically will be of more impact than the 1% fatality of the virus. Untreated illnesses, domestic violence, starvation, no money for necessities like gas and electricity or meds, mental problems from isolation, stress from the fear that you or a loved one could be a carrier, all will have a cost much higher than the virus. What is the meaning of life? It is to be lived to the fullest, we all die eventually. Long or short, it is the quality of life that matters not the length. We as a species don't know if the length is preordained from birth and those of you who believe in Heaven don't seem to be any more eager to go there than unbelievers. I'll wear my mask for you but I won't put on blinders....

  9. Bobby Brown is not the topic here. Don't get personal about another poster. And most of us are in greater danger from dying from old age than covid.

  11. For the past almost 18 years my Telmex bill always comes on the first few days of the month. Yes, sometimes it goes astray. No big deal I just go in wherever I am currently paying, give them my number and pay. My bill is always $389.

  17. Yes, I saw some of that 'meeting'. I think the most important thing was that Biden 'addressed Mexico as an equal' rather than 'someone who is south of our border'... someone to take advantage of. IMO this will go a long way to help relations. Otherwise, the rest can IMO be looked at as political theater. How much actually changes for the good of Mexico will play out as it plays out, but at least the new President has offered the hand of friendship to Mexico.

  18. I think there is huge breakthrough in solar power, as I posted on another thread, recycled Electric Vehicle batteries. Now a typical EV battery is retired when it is two thirds through its life, but this is enough to impair the EV performance, and the fear of getting stuck on the road with a dead, non-rechargeable battery. Apparently this remaining two thirds is enough juice for five to ten years in a typical household There are going to be 100,000 plus of these batteries hitting the waste stream per year within the next few years. A Chinese company is setting up a lithium recovery factory in Mexico. I would guess they would sell these two thirds batteries. Solar panel prices are dropping, inverter qualities are improving, and now electrical storage is affordable. Also space companies like Starlink, providing high speed internet and telephone, there is the opportunity to live completely off the grid. No CFE, no Telcel or Telmex, no cable. Now think of the climate change improvements. Mexico has three nuclear power plants, coal burning electrical plants, and I believe some bunker oil plants. Someone has to source these used EV batteries and make them easily available to Mexican solar installers. Tested and waranteed.

  20. You may need to apply for a permission letter to travel; but I have also heard that the process is getting quite quick now; Guess it will depend on how long you can be away from your family. You can start the process a few weeks BEFORE your temporal expires. Don't wait until the last day.

  23. The hospital numbers show the rate is dropping drastically. Obviously they aren't counting a lot of cases but counting hospital utilization is a lot easier. It isn't just happening in Mexico either.

  25. Yes but will the Mexicans, particularly the weekenders, participate? IMO unless backed up by some sort of enforcement, the participation will be spotty at best.

  26. You actually believe Mexico's reporting? It's been stated by those who study such things that the infection and death rate is many times higher than the govt. says it is. They are in denial.

  27. I don't think dog food is unhealthy for cats, it just doesn't have a high enough protein content. My cat ate dog food for a year and suffered no ill effects, but she's not a pampered house cat- she's a hunter and kills and eats mice, lizards, etc, so she got plenty of protein. Why don't they make mouse, rat and bird flavored cat food? 🙂 It's not like salmon or chicken is what a cat in the wild would normally catch and eat.
