  2. TelMex and CFE bills are delivered randomly, I presume depending on who is in charge of that part of the operation and what their budget is. CFE is delivered by hand; TelMex is delivered by mail. You can go years not getting either, then suddenly get one or both, while your next door neighbour gets the opposite. Everyone is expected to know their payment due dates, and not making a payment because of no bill is not accepted.

  5. You actually believe Mexico's reporting? It's been stated by those who study such things that the infection and death rate is many times higher than the govt. says it is. They are in denial.

  7. If you are only paying 25 pesos a month.... and you don't have solar.... I for one would construct a steel cage around that meter so that CFE didn't come by one day and jerk it out to install a new one! Then put a camera out by it and don't answer the door bell if you see from within your house that it is CFE workmen....

  9. Clear Choice is hooked up to the same backbone that Netflix and google use. Yes it charges but it is a good product. It is not the free IPTV stuff. IT DOES NOT BUFFER. Do you want it free or do you want it to work??

  11. Off to Houston this weekend and will receive my first vaccination on Monday, 8 March. I have no idea what vaccine I will get but it's a helluva lot better than no vaccine! But then, I trust science . . .

  12. I believe ClearChoice is a hosting service for Websites, no? Not TV. And their Website is atrocious.

  13. Nope. This occasionally happens... the wind blew it away, the dog ate it, the guy delivered it to the wrong house, didn't deliver it at all or it or haven't gotten around to delivering it. No matter, you know when it's due and can pay without a bill at the Telmex office by just giving them your telephone number. It is far easier to sign up for MiTelmex and print off your own bill. You can then pay it at many more locations than the Telmex office. Same for MiTelcel if you have a contract.

  15. Don't sweat it too much Fred. The IRS isn't looking for you or any of the expats living here. Fill out the form the best you can and submit. Year to year consistency is the best approach. I'm not so sure how closely these filings are watched assuming the Mexican banks have actually perfected the information transfer. Go to Individuals Filing the Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) (treas.gov) and select the File Online The first page asks for your name and email. That's easy. Give your filing a name. Then fill out Part I with your personal info. Skip down to Part III and enter what you think the max value was in 2020 and the bank account info. Add the joint account info if there is any and then go to the end, sign electronically and submit. Save the filing as a pdf so you can repeat next year. Keep filing each year with the same info changing the amount if necessary. We're Mexican citizens now and even though banks are not reporting any info on us, I keep filing. The IRS looks for changes year to year as a red flag.

  20. But that's exactly the point, isn't it. There is no answer, and he knows it, yet he continues to interrupt threads every week asking the same question over and over again. There are literally dozens of threads on here speculating on who and when because no one knows. But you two were sure quick to condemn me for calling that out. In effect, condemning me for my so-called condemnation, which seems a bit self-aggrandizing.

  21. I responded to Bisbee. And now I've invited her to continue the discussion via PM. Same invitation goes to you. I look forward to your rebuttal. Is it political to be concerned that our retirements may be wiped out by the wanton money printing of the last 20 years? Last time I checked this was equal opportunity paper hanging. And it scares the crap out of me, I can't imagine how some can be so blase about it. Think about what happens to so many here if your dollar drops 50 percent in purchasing power over a short period of time. Prices here are now based on a peso around 20, imagine what the family budget looks like at 10 to the dollar. You've been reminded.

  22. A very unscientific approach to immunology. An effective vaccination boosts your immunity to this virus which is unknown to your immune system so in the event you come into contact with this highly contagious virus you are in good shape already to fight it, obviously. What simple understanding experts know confuses you? Seems to be a lot of this going on.

  23. Peer reviews such as in Lancet are based on TRUST. Lancet does NO research, NO testing. Lancet was burned last year in a peer review of a Covid treatment because the underlying data was faulty. This did not come to light until after Lancet gave a positive review, when a few scientists involved in the study expressed their concerns over the study submission. Lancet retracted its approval. Peer reviews approve the process of the study submitted based SOLEY on what the study includes in their documentation. If they fudged the numbers, Lancet will not know that. So, you either TRUST the makers of any particular vaccine or you do not. In the cases of CanSino and Sputnik, the manufacturers are the Chinese and Russian governments given that both are totalitarian regimes. I don't trust either of them.

  24. I used to be 'on the fence' with regards to climate change, but after a couple of years of 'study' and listening to both sides of the 'argument' I am no longer on that fence. IMO, it is occurring. And yes, of course, the earth has always had shifts in the climate otherwise we would not talk about the 'ice age' or the opposite. The problem at the moment is that the RATE of change is what is alarming. It didn't just start a couple of years ago but the rate is not up for conjecture. And I don't think that there is a parallel in recorded history. And it has also been my observation that the 'deniers' are generally of two ilks: they 'come from' those who have some sort of vested interest in big business or in the petroleum spectrum.... either financially or taxes or jobs. And they seem to come predominately from those who align themselves with the Republican Party. That's not intended to be a knock of the Republican Party but merely an observation.

  25. To the OP: For starters Al Gore has forgotten more about climate change than you will ever know. He admits that "global warming" was a bad choice of words. You alluded to one accurate point - follow the money. Bottom line. The extractive industries are behind the climate deniers if you look deep enough. Always.

  26. Thank you...I did contact him and he responded quickly. I will file, as is required, in 2022 when the next tax reporting is required. I have noticed that Lakeside7 is wrong nearly 110% of the time so I ignore that advice. I know that it is your duty to avoid over paying taxes by any LEGAL means. Dual citizenship does not excuse US Tax reporting requirements. Even with a Mexican Passport...I still must report my US income or foreign bank accounts....based on the actual deposits. There are laws that prevent a dual citizen from paying taxes twice but this is a reporting requirement only.

  27. I would recommend that you seek advice from a qualified US Tax Preparer and not rely on posters on this board. Remember ignorance of the IRS law is no excuse for "avoiding" paying tax...if in deed you have any to declare. All US citizens, world wide are subject to paying Uncle Sam what is due him....
