I think when it is time to get the shot any approved vaccine is better than nothing.

The intent of a vaccine is to prevent a disease, yes, of course that is the goal. The function of a vaccine is to stimulate an immune response in the body. We are not all equal, it is not a digital 1 or 0 thing, more like snowflakes in that literally every person can have a different type and amount of response. Nothing wrong or different about that from any vaccine. And all the vaccines approved to date (and several that are about to be) all have been shown to do the job, very well. That is the bottom line.

It's probably safe to say you wouldn't be her type, either.

Lancet is a well-respected, science-based peer journal that has been around since 1823. It relies on fact-checking and the integrity of the researchers that provide sources. To say it was "burned" is overstepping. No journal is perfect. To pick it out and politicize it is baseless. 1823 is a lot longer than you or I, neither of us ever having made a mistake by accepting someone else's work, of course. I would rely on its reporting without hesitating, certainly when compared to most of the Googlers here.

The "good" Doctor says Covid 19 poses no significant health threats. Tell that to the loved ones of the approximately 500,000 people who have died in the US alone.

I wish that your previous Post and initial responses had not be deleted as there was what I think was a beneficial Post regarding this doctor. Maybe it will be reposted here. In a nut shell, this doctor is way off the charts with respect to what the vast majority of scientists and doctors IN THE WORLD are saying. Also.... from the deleted Post.... he has been issued a 'cease and desist' order from either the FDA or the CDC about these Covid claims. He also runs a 'supplement' business wherein he makes bold statements about his products to cure things. Conflict of interest? Protecting his business interest? IMO this guys claims are about as valid as the 'flat earth' claims.... or that the US Moon landing was actually staged on a Hollywood setting! Please do more investigation about this guys claims.

Nothing is "perfect".....but even the Astra Zeneca vaccine, just approved by Health Canada has been shown to be 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths. Both in the trials, and in real world use. And THAT is the goal, at least in this near term. "Stop The Spread".....of false, misleading, and alarmist conspiracy "info".

Great post but we need to keep the focus on Mexico on this board. Unfortunately not all Canadians here seem to share your point of view and this line of discussion could open a can of worms that requires moderator intervention. Personally, I appreciate your kind words and share the same feelings about most Canadians and Canada. This board tries to keep the focus on Mexico and on helping each other with some of the vagaries of the system here and how to navigate same. For example, things like driving licenses, tourist, temporary and permanent visas, medical services, where to find stuff, discussion about local food and restaurants, that sort of stuff. It has proven to be a great resource for newbies in that regard and I and others here look forward to answering your questions. My own experience with this group is when it comes to those matters they have a wealth of experience and have certainly helped us avoid a lot of pitfalls and save a lot of time getting things done. We got covid here at the end of January last year.....before it was even supposed to be here:/ My family was visiting from the US, flew down from WA state and we were vacationing in Manzanillo, so we really do not know where we contracted it. My symptoms were worse than anyone else in our household. I even went to the Dr. and I don't ever do that unless I feel really bad:/ The Dr. of course did not test for covid, and really I don't think Mexico had tests then. I hate to think we spread it to anyone else but we may well have:( We had to go to the US in May to care for my mom at the end of her life and we had the antibody test then which confirmed that we had Covid-19 at some time in the past and we are sure that was when. I was quite sick for 6-7 weeks, seriously bad cough, constant nausia, loss of taste and sense of smell as well as a very weird depression that I have never experienced in any way previously and I still have some lung involvement I think. All 6 of us recovered however and no one died. That does not mean that I would willingly go through how ill I was at the time however and I will avoid it like the plague it is!

Guadalajara has lots of places to shop and they deliver. Unless you are from a very small town and do not drive to big cities then Guadalajara can be intimidating but it is a great city to see and shop in, Get to know it and you will find whatever you will ever need. As far as I am concerned the debate about if you should get the vaccine is over. All the testing showed a 94% - 95% success rate and my research shows that this rate has only increased during the actual ongoing program implemented to date. On another point regarding getting the shots here, I was a little tardy in signing up on the registration site mivacuna.salud.gob.mx due to the reports of the time and difficulty involved. Yesterday I bit the bullet and bingo...a piece of cake!!! I use Chrome and have it set as English as the default language and the site came up in English. First it asked the enter my CURP and then next. Immediately it showed all my information that was correct and then next again. It then asked for contact info including a phone #, cell # , personal email address and then an alternative email address. Then it asked for my preferred contact method and I entered email. Then I think FINISH that I clicked and that was that. I think it took under 2 minutes!!! I will be there when they tell me, as I would advise others. If you do not you are selfish because the final positive result depends on the population getting what is called "herd immunity".

So where does this belief that the vaccine can change your DNA come from? As well as misunderstandings about the differences between mRNA and DNA, there are some biological entities which do change DNA, including treatments for some genetic diseases and even some viruses, which can have devastating effects on our DNA. Some viruses do change DNA and this can have extremely negative consequences. It’s important to say first of all that DNA-changing viruses do not include coronaviruses, but do include viruses like HIV and HPV. Plus there is a lot about Mexico that is misreported in the news and I have learned a lot about the Mexican people. So I have no problem sticking with topics just about Mexico. I have used Anna for almost 15yrs now and I agree she can be frustrating at times, the times I have heard talking on her cell phone she was trying to help a customer. So many of her gringo customers don’t have a clue about using a cell phone, as an example a poster claims that the 200 peso package doesn’t work in Canada, it works for me, but then I took the time to find out how it works and which network Telcel uses in Canada . Got our first AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Thursday Feb 25 in Cihuatlán, Jalisco. The clinic was for aged 60 and over. My ticket read that I was #293 but as I entered I was told there were no more vials ready - short wait while they mixed up new ones in the back. There were many more seniors waiting after us. Unfortunately a lack of bathrooms.

Remember, the US Government made contracts with many of the drug companies to attempt to create a vaccine and the contracts did not say the resulting product had to work. The American taxpayers underwrote the R&D risk for these companies but now Obrador says the products belong to the world? Sounds like a philosophy becoming more prevalent in the US. I am not going to base my confidence in a vaccine on what kind of government produced it. That's just inserting politics into what, IMO, should be a choice based on reliable research. Let's hear about the latter. So far, there seem to be many conflicting opinions about whether some of the well known vaccines are or are not safe to administer to those in the truly "elderly" group.

My wife, a Mexican citizen received her first Pfizer vaccine shot today. The Chickasaws, my tribe are now vaccinating tribal member spouses. She complained it hurt her arm but after buying her blueberry pancakes, the pain went away. They are now saying the first shot Pfizer vaccine can be up to 90% effective. Many countries are now planning on giving just the one shot so they can do double the number of people vaccinated. Johnson & Johnson is advertised as a one shot vaccine but it appears one shot from Pfizer is more effective than J&J.
