  1. I tried to reply to the pertinent thread but once I wrote out my post, I could not access the "submit" button. Am I banned or what? So I am trying again. Replying to Mainecoons about the frozen windmills: This is no time to be even subtly bashing Clean Energy. The reason that the windmills froze over in Texas is that they were not winterized as they are in normally cold climates. With global warming changes, people have to become more adaptable to recurrent extreme and unprecedented weather conditions which are not going to go away before they wreak havoc. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/16/texas-wind-turbines-frozen/ Below is a temperature variance map from January which shows the cause of the polar vortex splitting and moving abnormally south into the USA. This is caused by abnormal heat in the arctic region. As Texas freezes, remember that there have been severe wildfires in Siberia and Scandinavia above the arctic circle. Glaciers in the Himalayas have melted causing huge damage to a dam which resulted in widespread flooding in populated areas. Chunks of Antarctica are breaking off into the sea. And more...

  8. It was a dog, but you know that. They are extremely aggressive and have very strong jaws and teeth. One attacked a Polar Bear, at a zoo, it crushed its throat and would not let go until it was dead. If our resident great white hunter of the north encountered one, he would crap his fancy leather pants.

  9. Probably Badger. Only three seen in California. Two in Tahoe area and one SE of Bishop California in the Inyo mountains. I am the person who saw the wolverine in the edge of Death Valley/Inyo mountains near 395 highway about 15 years ago. We were driving down an old stage coach line in a gulley and right in the middle of the road was a wolverine. Luckily I had experience with them from my youth as the driver wanted to get out of the car and check him out. I grabbed him and closed the door as the wolverine attached our right front tire and the whole four runner shook. My friend thanked me over and over while I was stress laughing. We reported it to the state and they believed us as we had a picture to show. They told us this is as far as they go south.

  12. The WHO has unfortunately shown themselves to be incompetent at just about every stage of this pandemic. They are the last ones I'd go to for advice or guidance. The simplest explanations are generally the correct ones. Each time there have been lockdowns and restrictions, the cases fall dramatically. Happened in the spring, has happened since Christmas again. Everyone gets scared, the lockdowns happen, the cases fall in 6 weeks, and then most relax again. It is the last part that will be the big bugaboo this time with the variants due to how incredibly fast and easily they spread. I hope I'm wrong but pretty sure not.

  15. Also propane engines don't need all the maint that a gas engine needs. Burns much cleaner also. Am in the process of putting in a 30,000 L. underground tank in my yard. Big truck to bring it in the yard luckily I have big gates. Hope to avoid water shortages during the late dry season. Propane generator is next.

  16. Yes, there is hope and I'm glad that you are feeling more positive than ever. Having said that, we are not ANYWHERE CLOSE to being outa da woods! That's what some (uninformed and surely NOT the 'scientists') were saying early summer. Looked what happened in the Fall.... just as the 'scientists' said it would. And your comment about 'getting close to herd immunity' tells me that you for some reason just want to spread feel-good information that has no basis in fact. About 11% of the US population has received at least one shot. Some others who have already contracted the virus are thought, but not known, to now be somewhat immune. Herd Immunity takes 75-85% immunity and we don't yet know if the new stains are covered by the current vaccines. And there will be more strains. Herd immunity indeed!

  18. Yes wrong....What possible problem??? There is NO problem with the amount, just that over a certain amount it has to reported. They take the mail to an unloading dock (I have been there) as there are 9 IShop stores in Jalisco, 2 Lakeside. 4 In Guadalajara, and 3 in P.V....PLUS small mail services around the country that use the IShop facility for US Mail delivery. You are really showing your ignorance about this issue as you have no idea how many packages, boxes, of art work and hundreds of other items that is shipped north to the US Mail and you say they are going to drop it into a "mail box".....Laughable!!! Wise up a little before you tell me I´m wrong, but really "me vale"

India uses it a lot. edit. this info is way out of date, irradiation of food is now widespread all over the world. https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2018/01/acceptance-use-of-food-irradiation-reached-new-levels-in-2017/

  24. Gosh, it's worth it to me. The ride is usually quiet/relaxing until you hit Guad and it gets you relatively close to the "good" Costco. Plus, there are quite a few shops (Office Max, Home Depot, Petco) and restaurants on the way back. $5 for making this direction-limited driver easily get from Point A to Point B? A bargain!

  26. And that is completely your choice and right to do so. The site is to be used or not to be used on whether it is helpful and easy to use. But also free from any direct commercial bias. To be completely straight forward, I love being in Mexico, the people are great and the weather is awesome. But I find more often than not, difficulties finding services, products, and information. So all I am offering is to help, its up to you on whether you decide to take it.

  27. Shipments to some hub distribution centers were halted in Texas for a few days and appointments re-scheduled. In some areas no problem. Resuming for week of Feb 15th now. Pfizer "We also have developed packaging and storage innovations to be fit for purpose for the range of locations where we believe vaccinations will take place. We have specially designed,temperature-controlled thermal shippers utilizing dry ice to maintain recommended storage temperature conditions of -70°C±10°C for up to 10 days unopened." The Pfizer thermal shippers, in which doses will arrive, that can be used as temporary storage units by refilling with dry ice every five days for up to 30 days of storage. https://www.dshs.texas.gov/news/updates/COVIDVaccineAllocation-Week10.pdf

  29. I wonder how long the Pfizer vaccine can remain viable if the vaccination sites and storage facilities have no backup power generators to maintain the -70C temperatures. There could be millions of doses lost in the areas that have suffered the recent winter storm, particularly Texas.

  30. To be expected both due to the weather / demand, and the fact that Texas in general has "0" (or negative) view of conservation. CFE charges MORE as you use more, to help the poor and underprivileged and encourage conservation. Texas does the opposite. Not a good practice IMHO.

  32. The frozen turbines account for a very small part of the problem. "While ice has forced some turbines to shut down just as a brutal cold wave drives record electricity demand, that’s been the least significant factor in the blackouts, according to Dan Woodfin, a senior director for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates the state’s power grid."

Only looking for feedback on a potential website that will compliment this existing site. if you read the posts, you will see that is the intent. Advice is offered freely, but advice only.

  38. Mexico has reported 166,731 covid deaths after a year. Population of Mexico is 126,014,000. Death toll percentage is 166,731 x100/126,014,000 or .132 percent total in one year. Poverty increased by 12.6 million in 2020 largely due to government actions. How many deaths from that, do we know? What percentage had major contributing conditions of obesity, diabetes, pulmonary problems, very old age? Children have been kept out of school for nearly a year, what are the long term costs in poverty and death of that? Was the "cure" (which basically did not work) worth than the disease?
