  1. Just a thought... If your "source" is so "reliable" , why don't you ask them your questions? Otherwise, I suggest you wait like the rest of us and the rest of the world, for this information to be available, from, I would assume, a local government source. Most of us are in the high risk category, you aren't alone. Be patient, sir.

  2. I will give up my "place in line" to any health care worker, first responder or other essential worker - I am pretty damn swell but not necessary.

  3. Sadly I think both systems are Broke and their value is worth about as much as the paper they are written on. I just came back from a 6pm appointment at the Chapala IMSS clinic and Doctor #1 was a no show and no idea when she will return. Question; so why does the central reservation deck keep making appointments??? That clinic is a pathic example of how the IMSS is portrayed to work, and its disgusting's dirty.

  4. I had seen this new small place open a few months ago and decided to try it since it is in walking distance of my house. 2 weeks ago Sunday I went and was impressed with the look and offerings on the menu as well as the Special board as you see in the photos here. I ordered the top Special on the board and it was GREAT! This past Sunday I went back and ordered the shrimp soup and the ravioli w/nuts from the board...again amazing...and with 2 cervesas...$250 (+ generous tip). Easy to find from the carretara...go south on the street next to the Sunrise Restaurant almost to the dead end at Ramon Corona it is on the left. Open every day 1:30 pm - 10pm (closed Wednesday) Call 333-023-4897 for reservations. Somewhat rustic and small but very clean and with great service. Here are some photos of the restaurant and my meal. Suggest you give it a try!!!

  5. Do you really think anyone is just going to call some lawyer whose name you won't even give based on some strangers recommendation on a forum? A stranger who thinks getting a driver's license is a "government challenge" that one requires a lawyer for?

  6. Uptick in parking anywhere near LCS. And it appears snowbirds' parallel parking skills have not improved either 😊

  7. It will be interesting to ee what the priorities are here.. In France it is health worker followed by anyone working with the public then it is a toss between school kids and old folk home and then old people and people at risk but they have not told us yet how old you have to be to get the vaccine.. and be considered old.. Everyone is betting that it will be way older than retirement age but no one knows.. Here we will fall under the Mexican rule what ever they will be.. a ver.. Frankly we are lucky, we do ot have to go to work , we do not have to travel and we can isolate ourselves and wear masks . There are a whole lot of people who need to have the vaccine way before us.

  8. We smell them in upper Villa Nova regularly and they are strong enough to wake you out of a sound sleep. They are definitely nocturnal and seldom leave their spray before 9 pm. Had a problem with family of raccoons back in VA and heard that human urine might deter them. Did not work !! Might need to try it here, rather than keep losing sleep over their strong and awful smell.

  9. I wouldn't have to worry about the cartels. The pedaling would kill me.

  10. Today at Walmart I found the Mexican olive oil I have raved about. They had two varieties , arbequina and koroneiki at 100 pesos a 1/2 liter. It is reported that some 80% of olive oil imported is not as advertised. Mexico's Olivo del Cielo is pressed only once and only at night. Truly artisanal product grown in the perfect soil and weather of southern Tamaulipas, near Tula.

  11. Harry tried to call but maybe not the right number? Please call us at 376 766 3580. We have a Dell laptop that comes with a full bilingual "desktop" keyboard and a mouse (apart from the normal laptop keyboard) and would be happy to donate it for this young gal.... with one small condition which we can discuss. Happy Thanksgiving.

  12. Yeah, nothing anecdotal about that. That was Harry Devert, killed outside of Zihuatanejo because some gangster thought he was DEA. 2014. And then there were these guys: https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/cyclists-in-chiapas-were-murdered-prosecutor/ This guy is living on borrowed time IMO.

  13. That is called anecdotal evidence. They are found dead daily NOB, so what?

  14. Hmmmm. I recall a motorcyclist doing the same thing until he was found dead.

  19. I would think that is a large majority of the general public, including foreigners right now. Prices of medical equipment are skyrocketing. An appliance for hip replacement now costs over 70,000 pesos. Equipment only. I was recently quoted $10,000 US per year by a broker who was touted as having the lowest cost, but reliable, private health insurance plan. Don't despair though. The INSABI hospitals are generally quite competent, especially in the Jalisco area. Then there are the public general hospitals which are very affordable, then charity private hospitals run by nun nurses, then the Military hospital, and Navy hospital - same thing. There is no way to manipulate the prices of imported medical equipment other than encouraging production in Mexico. Then there is lots of room for improvement, which will take place slowly but surely.

  20. Human urine is good for repelling skunks and other vermin. I suggest after dark with the lights out so you don't upset the neighbors and pee around the parameter.

  25. Maybe 15 years ago, when I went north for a month, I was able to take my two dogs to a kennel where they were cared for and exercised. Being up north right now, I don't have the contact information. I just remember that it was (perhaps still is) east of Ajijic. Sorry I can not be more helpful at this time. These days, when I am away my dogs stay in our home in Ajijic where they are cared for be I there or not.
