  1. When a business owner deals with negative comments by accusing those who have complained as being some sort of conspiracy by the competition, that doesn't say much for the business owner's professionalism, nor does saying you'll pay anyone who has a bad experience. Know what a professional approach is? "I'm quite distressed to read that some of the posters here have said they had a bad experience at my restaurant. Please, if you ever experience poor food or service at my establishment, let me know right away, so I have a opportunity to get to the bottom of what might have happened, as it's of utmost importance to me to provide a consistent high quality product and service." Defensiveness, accusations, and denial in response to customer complaints will cause me not to patronize a business just as much as poor quality product, service, or workmanship will. Whereas a business owner being open and responsive to complaints will often encourage me to give that business a second chance.

  2. I strongly disagree. I shop at various fruterías in Ajijic as well as at El Torito. Far fresher than what I see at Walmart, for sure!

  3. Assuming we all know what and where Covid is, it seems like it is up to every individual to do as he sees fit. If we are worried, we "suit up". If not, we are more relaxed. Up to every individual. IMHO.

  4. When a restaurant has inconsistent food and service, one day good, the next terrible, they lose my business.

  6. RickS above is correct. I have sold Medicare Supplements in my past life and have starred at the billboard outside San Antonio Hospital in disbelief, advertising for patients with US and Medicare insurers. Absolutely, if you live here in MX and are not just travelling through, you'd better understand what your Medical provider in MX is doing with your insurance and what you are allowing them to submit, otherwise for residents you may be participating in a form of Medicare or Insurance fraud! Most Medigap and Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) state directly from Medicare.gov: Covers foreign travel emergency care if it begins during the first 60 days of your trip, and if Medicare doesn't otherwise cover the care. Pays 80% of the billed charges for certain medically necessary emergency care outside the U.S. after you meet a $250 deductible for the year. Foreign travel emergency coverage with Medigap and Advantage Plan policies has a lifetime limit of $50,000. Check your Medigap, Advantage Plans and US Health Care insurance in detail so you don't get yourself in hot water by a medical facility trying to bend the rules to their benefit. From experience on the Insurers side, they don't care and won't care if you say, "well I didn't know", and neither will Uncle Sam.

  8. We are not yet dining inside restaurants, but Cocinart is in our Top 5 eateries and we are getting carryout from them once or twice a week, every week. Their quality and consistency has not changed and I am comparing this to the same dishes we have enjoyed there for years.

  12. Get a grip. They only took the masks off for the foto and none of them sneezed on us during that short time. We do not throw caution to the wind or I would not still be alive as the FRAIL ONE. Yvonne is far from being frail at the YOUNG age of 70. Amador[black sabbath hat] is the owner not staff and Never goes without a mask wherever he is, in front of Pancho's doing his smoke thing on Saturdays or delivering to your house. But feel free to stay away based on your viewing of a couple of fotos.SNORK! pedro kertesz

  13. I traveled round trip to US twice. March-June to the East Coast (felt safer because my sister's home is totally isolated in a forest and I have Medicare coverage). July-Sept to Missoula Montana (for required surgery). I felt very safe in the airports (Charlotte, Mexico City, Denver, Seattle) because of all the precautions. I wore mask, goggles and a face shield for protection. I had no carry on luggage to store in the overhead bins, only under the seat. No reaching over other people. Only on one flight (in March at the start of Covid) of the total of 8 flights was anyone sitting next to me, the other flights I paid extra for seats to the front and I was the only one in the row (American, Aeromexico, Volaris, Southwest, Alaska). I quarantined completely for 2 weeks after my travel, both in the US (hotel/guest cabin) and at home after I returned to Ajijic.(last time only 10 days). My experience. No need to make comments.

  14. Excellent response! A popular local business will no longer receive our business because the relatively new partner did not take a course in customer relations 101. We are what would be to them a prime consumer as we don't do restaurant, but cook at home. Some people just don't get it and no the new partner is not Mexican.

  15. Dropped calls, unable to connect outbound calls and inability for others to call you have been well documented. ILOX denies there is a problem so most have ported back to Telmex and have warned others not to use this "service".

  17. I chose Actinver, where I have both a checking account and a brokerage account. It is very close to where I live and has plenty of parking. Is it any better than any other bank or brokerage? Heck, I do not know. I just know that I have never had a problem in the some 20 years I have had an account there. And I am very satisfied.

  18. It's been several months since we ate there but the quality of the steaks was not good and the sides were help yourself buffet style and cold and almost uneatable. As we were leaving, I noticed they were warming them up. Another time we ate there we had to keep asking the waitress for things, such as drinks, cutlery, etc. Pancho's is a long ways from being best in Riberas and certainly not best in Chapala. We do buy things we cannot find in the store and appreciate this service. I noticed when we went ,there were people enjoying the wine and drinks. I know expats who have not liked his meals and not gone back and I also know expats who enjoy the meals and are regular customers. Maybe things have changed since we last ate there, later I will sample the food again. I was really disappointed with the steak as I like to eat one every week.

  23. The statistic here are a joke.. I just read an article about Tuxtla Gutierrez and its lack of space in the cimetery..They burry or cremate an average of 125 people a month in Tuxtla.. In March they had 125 burial, in April 150 in May 580 and in June over 500 I would love to know what it was in August.. they say it went down but did not give number as they had made some room by kicking out the people who did not pay rent any longer and had buil some type of condominium for the dead... but that kind of figures show that the figures from the covid death from the government are way out of line compare to reality.. They never talked about a 300% increase in death in May and June.. so judge for yourselves...

  25. In defense of crabby boy, I can see where he is coming from. Although he should have known posting the unmasked photo would create a stir among at least a couple of regular posters, he did explain masks were removed for the photo. He has made clear (twice) that the facility complies with virus protocols. There is no need to pound this restaurant into the ground.

  27. Treat all the restaurants equally by posting this on all the restaurant reviews on here so that you can put them all out of business. Your 2 ongoing posts about covid-19 isn't enough of an obsession for you that you have to do this to a restaurant? And unlike a lot of you we only go to restaurants on special occasions. Last time was Dec. 2019. we both enjoy cooking exquisite meals at home.

  31. Sweden's death total, as of Sept. 22, 2020 is way higher than its neighbors Denmark, Finland, and Norway. It is true that Sweden, with a population of just over 10 million is larger than its neighbors. The other three each have populations of about 5.5 million. So Sweden is about twice as large as each of them. However, Sweden's death total is 5,876 as of Sept. 22. That is 9.3 times as many deaths as Denmark (643 dead), 17.13 times as many as Finland (343 dead) and a whopping 22 times as many as Norway (267). I would call Sweden's record a pretty miserable one, compared to its neighbors. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1113834/cumulative-coronavirus-deaths-in-the-nordics/

  32. My personal experience . Flew recently to US east coast and most pleasant trip since before 9/11 . Airports super clean and quiet and calm. no crowds/no rushing, no lines anywhere, super easy immigration experience . Everyone — 100% - masked , social distancing observed and everyone super chill. I fly a few times/year ...If only it was always like this

  34. I visited yesterday. The eastern entry/exit will become exit only, one-way towards Chapala. Whether they can enforce that direction or not is an open question, but it probably won't be an entryway. The western entry/exit (between the AutoZone and Domino's) will probably stay the same, although it's not very useful as an exit (hard to head west, why not use the other exit to go east?). The main exit will be at the light (new).Right now, there is no signal for those exiting, so it's a mess; they will need to install another signal and left turn light. Thus the intersection will slow down some, as there is another light sequence to add. But there will be less of the wild-west driving atmosphere than before. Note I said less: this is Mexico, after all.

  39. @happyjillin You posted the pictures of unmasked workers. I posted a CDC study. You and others can ignore mask wearing if you choose to. I prefer to follow recommendations of the CDC and other scientists. FYI, I am getting take-away 6 or 7 days a week from restaurants where I have observed strict mask wearing and adherence to other sanitary requirements. And yes, if I observe non-mask wearing at eateries, they get dropped from my ordering list.
