  1. Rainfall is one factor. How much excess water there is in the dams in the central pains area is another. If they get to full or nearly max capacity, they release excess as preventive measure to compromising those dams. That's why often we'll see a dramatic increase later in the season. Recent new masses of lirio would suggest this is happening now as they come via the Lerma River at Ocotlan.

  3. Two times a year (March and October) the Sun is lined up directly behind the sateliite and us (the ground). This causes the satellite signals to go out for about 15 mins between 2pm and 3pm in the afternoon.

  5. This was posted by Sonia Diaz on Sept 29 - Note #2 "Inmigracion COVID Exemptions Stopped At Inmigracion, as of this morning all the exemptions for COVID have stopped. The rationale being Mexican consulates are open. 1. You may not enter Mexico with an expired Temporary Resident card. 2. FMM tourist cards are no longer renewed in Mexico using a "humanitarian" process; they may still be renewed through a "regularization" process and paying 3 fees. 3. A Temporary Resident card that expired IN MEXICO may only be renewed by paying a fine and a review fee if it expired within less than 60 days. It also requires proving financials and starting over at year 1. 4. A Temporary Resident process may no longer be initiated in Mexico. In other words, all the Inmigracion rules are back to what they were in March and earlier."

  7. In addition, Sol y Luna was notoriously slow before the Pandemic. Packages were 'in transit' for 4-8 weeks last year.

  8. It’s 9:40 pm and we have had to close all of our windows on an otherwise very pleasant evening. Even so, the outrageous noise coming from the dog shelter has forced us to increase our tv volume to levels heretofore unseen, just to hear it. It is madness. For two hours earlier this evening the dogs were barking uncontrollably. There was an hour of relative silence, probably due to exhaustion on the part of the canines, but they have regrouped and are AGAIN completely out of control As has been previously stated, this shelter should never have been allowed in a populated residential neighborhood, and it must be relocated.

  10. A sun outage, sun transit or sun fade is an interruption in or distortion of geostationary satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation. The effect is due to the sun’s radiation overwhelming the satellite signal. In the northern hemisphere, sun outages occur before the March equinox (February, March) and after the September equinox (September and October), and in the southern hemisphere the outages occur after the March equinox and before the September equinox. At these times, the apparent path of the sun across the sky takes it directly behind the line of sight between an earth station and a satellite. The sun radiates strongly across the entire spectrum, including the microwave frequencies used to communicate with satellites (C-band, Ku band, and Ka band), so the sun swamps the signal from the satellite. The effects of a sun outage range from partial degradation (increase in the error rate) to total destruction of the signal. The effect sweeps from north to south from approximately 20 February to 20 April, and from south to north from approximately 20 August to 20 October, affecting any specific location for less than 12 minutes a day for a few consecutive days.

  11. From what I’ve been reading quite a few Insurance companies are now offering health ins which includes Covid19. The courts overturned the Ontario government’s attempt to stop paying claims for out of country emergency health care. Many of the airlines Air Canada and Westjet Included are including Covid19 coverage when you purchase a ticket. Many if not most of the Canadians I know are returning, one of the reasons being is that the infection rates in many parts of Canada are far higher than here at Lakeside..

  15. The weather station that states all the ajijicweather.com data resides in Rancho Del Oro (West Ajijic). So the figures do apply to Lakeside. Rain storms here are usually "cloud specific" and "location specific" compared to other areas that might get sprinkles all day long. The equipment for the weather station is NOAA approved and is calibrated twice a year.

  17. I visited yesterday. The eastern entry/exit will become exit only, one-way towards Chapala. Whether they can enforce that direction or not is an open question, but it probably won't be an entryway. The western entry/exit (between the AutoZone and Domino's) will probably stay the same, although it's not very useful as an exit (hard to head west, why not use the other exit to go east?). The main exit will be at the light (new).Right now, there is no signal for those exiting, so it's a mess; they will need to install another signal and left turn light. Thus the intersection will slow down some, as there is another light sequence to add. But there will be less of the wild-west driving atmosphere than before. Note I said less: this is Mexico, after all.

  18. I've seen guesstimates of 50-60 percent not coming. If true this should serve to inject a little reality into the inflated local rental market but also may spell the end of many local businesses that have been holding out until the snowbird season.

  19. After a near death experience with another hospital and cardiologist in 2018 I was very careful when I again needed a cardiologist to treat severe blockage in two of the main arteries in my heart . I spoke to several friends that have used a cardiologist and many recommended Dr. Moya at Lakeside Cardiology Clinic . I can say without hesitation that I was extremely careful as I went forward with Dr. Moya . I ask question after question and told him about my previous experience . He was very concerned about the previous experience and how it reflected on quality , competent and caring doctors . He told me exactly what would happen , how I would feel and exactly what it would cost . I cannot say enough about how he treated me . He went above and beyond what was expected and continues to be involved with my aftercare three weeks later . He took me to Sanatorio hospital in Guad and the service and treatment were excellent . They seemed to be going well past the precautions that are needed due to the Covid . One of his associates , Dr. Antonio was also a great help . I have made two new friends . They treated my wife with great respect and kept her involved and informed during and after the process . There seems to always be someone that is not happy with their doctor , hospital or treatment for whatever reason but for me and my wife we couldn't be happier with Dr. Moya . As with everything thing important in life , especially your health , tread cautiously . Good luck .

  23. I am assuming you are referring to an FMM. Have you called Spencer's office here to see if he can do it? 376-765-7553 331-556-0828 cell If he says no then check with Sonia Diaz Posted Sept 3rd In San Miguel, I have renewed 40+ FMM tourist cards, once expired. After renewal, Aduana in Queretaro will renew your TIP (car permit). Once you have your new FMM you may apply for Temporary Resident, again locally. I have had clients come from as far as Zihuatanejo and Ajijic to renew FMM's and TIP. I also have TR applications being processed using financials and this temporary program. www.soniadiaz.mx

  25. My son sent us a package from the States with DHL. He thew in some Vitamin B 12 and some spices. It got held up at customs because they insisted it was medicine. The best solution was to send it back. It cost us over &300. USD. Plus what ever it cost my son to ship it down. Now we only order through companies that ship internationally, Costco Mexico, Amazon US and Amazon Mexico.

  26. I once had plain old simple Vitamin D sit at aduana for 6 months! If you ordered something with an ingredient banned in MX, you will never get it. If you ordered something that is prescription-only in Mexico, if you ordered it with a company that does not have a MXN import license for medications, you will never get it.
