  1. Daisy 2013 "Since thing are so iffy with the virus, not the time to hire a new person Everyone now has so much time on their hands, try cleaning yourselves." Wow, more unasked for life advice. Not everyone has (1) time on their hands (2) the physical ability to clean house (for any number of reasons, which are personal.) How about you use some of the time on your hands to do a little introspection?

  2. Nice to say make it the owners choice but what about the employees?? Choice for them could be cancer or money.

  3. Personally, I think thinking in hourly rates is not all that applicable here. In the maid search I would have the applicant come in and either give you a price for the job you expect to be done; or, let her do the job one day for a stipulated price and then give you a price.

  5. To marry in Mexico, you need a valid FMM. The easiest place to marry is Mexico City as a gay couple. And to be sponsored by your husband again you need a current FMM. As to the process please read my web site under visas / family and marriage to a Mexican national. Your names must match 100000% on passports and marriage license. You obtain an apostle of your California marriage license. Then it is translated in Mexico by a certified translator. Next, register your marriage with Registro Civil. Finally, you apply at Inmigracion. It is easier than it sounds. I have more than 500 INM processes annually and this is the process I have applied often including our own marriage. www.soniadiaz.mx

  7. Of course not. Spanking is what parents who have no parenting skills do. Same goes for empty threats. Children learn how to be civilized from positive reinforcement of good behavior and natural consequences. A spanking isn't a natural consequence. If your child doesn't do his chores and goes off to play with his friends instead, a natural consequence would be the parent saying, next time the child wants the parent to drive them somewhere "Remember the other day went you went off without washing the dishes and I had to do the dishes so I'd have a clean kitchen to make dinner in? Well, I was planning on answering some emails during that time, so no, I can't drive you there because I'm going to answer those emails now". Corporal punishment may stop them from doing that thing next time, but not because they see the value or sense in it- because of fear of punishment. That's no way to raise emotionally healthy human beings who make smart choices on their own. And only bullies and cowards hit people who are smaller than they are.

  10. Out running errands this morning and decided to throw all caution to the winds by having breakfast at Pancho’s. It (and the store) were busy. Service was good. Protocols being followed. I had the everything omelette which came with beans and a small fruit plate. It was excellent. It has been many months since I had eaten there and was pleased that everything seemed fine (at least for today).

  11. If you do not dial the 376 in front of the number, it will no longer go through. The number for Ajijic Electronics is 376-766-1117 and it works just fine because I just dialed it and talked to Mike Merryman.

  12. I use a cleaning service that charges me $800 pesos for 4 hours of 1 housecleaner. I got a chuckle from the post about "so much time on our hands" since so many of us need that maid service for tasks we can no longer handle ourselves due entirely to infirmities, rather than time constraints.

  15. You are correct. The only part of the system a non Mexican can access is the health insurance. To join you must have a residency card, be under 70 years of age, pay the annual fee for your age group, and pass a physical exam. Some preexisting conditions are not covered and these include malignant tumors, congenital diseases, chronic degenerative diseases, addictions, mental illness, and HIV—among others. If you have any preexisting excluded conditions, you cannot enroll into the IMSS insurance program. Other specific preexisting conditions are covered on ‘deferment’ and these don’t preclude you for joining the program, but are subject to specific waiting periods before you can seek healthcare services within the IMSS system related to them. Fees fo 2020 enacted in March for 60-69 years of age $12,250. Your current passport(s) Your current residency permit(s) Proof of address, e.g. your latest electricity bill Marriage certificate (if applicable) Application form and health questionnaire provided by IMSS Two photographs, same format and rules as those for your residency permit Bank payment receipt for the first-year’s premium (made on the day you visit the local IMSS office) After you’re enrolled, you’ll be assigned to a local clinic, where you will go to see your doctor, go for regular check-ups, and obtain prescriptions for any medications you may need. If you need the services of a specialist, referrals are made to IMSS medical specialists only via your assigned doctor. Exclusions when joining: Six months: Benign breast lump. Ten months: Birth. One year: Lithotripsy Surgery for gynecological conditions, except malignant neoplasms of the uterus, ovaries and perineal floor. Surgery for venous insufficiency and varicose veins. Sinus and nose surgery. Varicocele surgery. Hemorrhoidectomy and rectal fistula surgery and rectal prolapse. Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Hernia surgery, except intervetabral disc herniation. Hallux valgus surgery. Strabismus surgery. Two years: Orthopedic surgery.

  16. So what your saying is many of the foreigners and Expats here are struggling.. Are they here illegally then. ? Because if they are here legally they must have produced financial statements to immigration showIng their monthly income or a substantial amount of money in their bank account over a period of time. They may not be living High off the hog but they are certainly not struggling like many of the locals here who don’t have a nice pension coming in to their bank account every month...

  19. Well, woof, woof. Such vehemence, doggies. This here doggie just wanted to get a verification of the information he received from 3 (count them) people very close to La Bodega who informed this here doggie that Covid was indeed the reason for closing the restaurant. And, indeed this puppy dog created a new account yesterday to check out this information because he knew, just KNEW, that there are folks here that cannot resist kicking a stray. Yep, glad they are closed but not glad that folks who were probably exposed to the virus while dancing and singing and “over the years have spent many enjoyable nights there enjoying the great music as well as the food.” have not been informed. And, another yep to “it is a family business. they owe us no details” BUT, THEY SERVE THE PUBLIC! I mean, really, if I had rabies, it would be announced to the world to protect all you other doggies in the area. And this doggie thought that a business that had a Covid case was required to report it to the big dogs in Chapala and undergo rigorous sanitizing and inspection before reopening. Is that only for unpopular doggie bars Then, we are to “rejoice in the knowledge that they served almost 50000 meals to the needy. be empathetic in the knowledge that they have been open for decades and now this” Well, let’s say that if they were serving meals every day for 28 weeks beginning in mid March; by this puppy’s calculation that would be 255 meals a day! A terrier who lives in the neighborhood who went regularly to beg for scraps, went hungry because they were serving, at best, only about 50 meals a day. There are lots of doggy owners out there very worried about this here Covid-19 virus but I guess that there are a lot of doggies not worried because we can’t get it from hanging out in bars like doggy owners. So, go sing and dance and drink away but know that you just may have been exposed to something besides a good time. Might be smart to go get tested, ya think? Don’t get me wrong (even though I think you will); this pup feels very badly for all businesses affected by this pandemic. But he also believes that business owners need to be responsible and keep the public informed.

  22. WE know several foreigners have WELL over 6 dogs...... so don't think this is a "Mexican" issue. (No we are not included) Some are more mindful than others about the noise etc. their dogs cause. In past years, at least two were "invited" to leave La Floresta when their dog counts got to 14 or 15......... So don't be so quick to condemn the Mexican population at large. The fault lies with the individual in each situation.

  30. You are not a doctor so I suggest that you aren't qualified to describe my stroke. There is no such thing as a mild stroke. Since I have had 3 others I know the symptoms on immediate onset and act quickly. Our nest egg is just fine but feel free to throw your cash away. We humans have choices don't we--eh!

  31. So the "family reasons" for closure is that a family member has Covid. Nice of them to close, but shouldn't the customers know the reason so they (the customers) can take necessary precautions? Wonder why they are being secretive about the reason for closure? Seems a public health issue need to know. Very inappropriate on the part of La Bodega not to let the public know. Wonder if they are hiding anything else. . .

  32. This time I agree with GringoHombre. In Riberas doesn't help. I drive thru Riberas and have never seen this restaurant. A link or a nearby would be useful. Granted I don't really want the address 'cause I don't like Cuban sandwiches, but other people might.
