  1. You are always telling us you are a business man and therefore we should believe you when you say professional gardeners have their own tools. I guess I must be doing something wrong because I treat my full time gardener as a full time employee and I provide all of the equipment. He walks up to my house every day and then walks home and no he does not carry his equipment on his back to and from work. Oh, he does bring his lunch. He has been working me for about 18 years now. And he gets all of the benefits given an employee, you know vacations, health insurance , sick leave, Etc. Etc. Does it take 45 hours per week to do all of the gardening, normally not. But my property manager said that the total cost of a full time employee is much better than what is charged for a part timer where he would work about 35 hours per week. At least that is what my property manager said. I have been told that a professional gardener would be charging about $85 pesos per hour while my full time gardener makes maybe $58 pesos per hour. Oh, oh, he is not getting underpaid. He gets more than three weeks vacation each year, his health insurance is more than $20,000 and on and on

  2. 1. Have yet to find any Credit Union that has issues with members living overseas, at least those I am a member of, and others I had researched. See if you have rights of membership to any credit union based on past employment or via other organizations you belong to. 2. There are cheaper ways to open an account with the State Dept. Fed. Credit Union than joining ACA. Go to the SDFCU site; it lists organizations whose members can join. You may already have the right to join based on other organizations you are affiliated with. If not, look at the org called American Consumer Council; you can join them for $15 lifetime (compared to cheapest under ACA which is $55 Annually for Seniors, $70 Annually for under age 65).

  5. A month ago, I started a thread about what a person is to do if he wants to cash a Treasury check here in Mexico but doesn't have a US bank account. I had a US bank account until five years ago when my Citibank Banamex in California suddenly closed all accounts with citizens living abroad. What to do? So after weeks of searching I found the solution. Join https://www.americansabroad.org/ As an ACA member, you can open an account with State Department Federal Credit Union.

  6. Has anyone that had a check mailed here bothered to ask at the post office? The check I got was sent registered mail and sat at the Chapala P.O. for 11 days before they attempted to go the three blocks to my home.

  9. I would never compare a gardener to a plumber anyways it is a lot easier to carry a monkey wrench around than a lawn mower and a weed eater. Many gardeners don't make the money to afford all those expensive tools and a truck to carry them around. We have always provided the tools and have been fortunate to have them take good care if them.

  10. You can order directly: https://apps.pase.com.mx/tienda/ I highly recommend the model Portátil for$100. It has a holder to install on the windshield and you can remove it in a second to use in another vehicle. It is also has a better signal reception than the RFID sticker named Calcomanía and is now the same price. After you have it you open an account at https://apps.pase.com.mx/up/ and register the device. Then you can pre-load up to a total of $3000 in advance, however the maximum per deposit is $2000. You can print out a payment slip for BBVA or pay online. There is an app that will allow you to deposit from the app as well. Also the app will alert you to each charge and show your charges. As posted earlier you can also setup automatic withdrawals from a Mexican card.

  11. I understand that in Mexico the average Dr. can not get or prescribe strong pain medications. And that should you really have a need for extra strong pain Medications that it has to be prescribed by a specially licensed pain Dr. So, I guess, you will need to visit your GP who will judge whether you need these meds or not and if you do Your GP can set up an appointment with the pain specialist, whom I was told is in Guadalajara.> At least that used to be the way some 5 to10 years ago.
