  1. Masks prevent the large number of people with the virus but no symptoms from spreading it to you. It doesn't need to be fancy just cover your face and nose. The masks only for the infected advice is obsolete based on the fact of the early 95/pro mask shortage. Also how do you know if you are infected? For four to eight days you can have and spread the virus and not feel a thing. Some folks have the virus and never develop any symptoms. Wear a mask in public.

  2. Since you don't seem to have read the information that has been out for months re mask wearing, wearing a mask is more to prevent you from infecting others, should you be infected yourself, very possibly without knowing, as it is starting to appear that the majority of cases may be asymptomatic but still contagious, than to prevent others from infecting you. You breathe out through your nose. Your eyes do not exude breath and droplets.

No different than Hook 'Em and virgo lady's posts from Sunday.....see previous page......science, medical expertise, and common sense / caution, over the opposite, is the watchword these days...one can choose to make anything political, if one tries hard enough, I guess..... and they DID finally get rescued....thx to the Professor! 😉 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_from_Gilligan's_Island

  7. It's vet with a little v. I choose to not live paranoid and to not panic. There may never be a cure or vaccine or it make take years. Seeing how I have more years behind me than in front I have to make the best of it.

  9. Yes, it is cooler. Your masks helps to prevent others from catching the virus from you so covering the nose is not near as important as covering the mouth.

  11. Presidente Municipal Moy Anaya held a videoconference clarifying FASE 0 and stressed three main points. (He will post this on social media later today.) 1. Filtros sanitarios—health checkpoints—will continue, intensified. His priority is the health of the people of the municipality of Chapala; he is not permitting tourists to enter and risk our health. 2. Regarding Fase 0 from Jalisco Governor Alfaro Many people were under the illusion/confusion that businesses could reopen on May 18. Only the protocols to allow your business to reopen begin today, and run through 31 May. NO BUSINESS REOPENINGS IN FASE 0. (My note: except restaurants, point 3, below.) The municipality will continue to support local businesses until they receive the protocols/permissions to accredit and reopen business. To do this, he will have available personnel from the economic promotion tourism board to work side-by-side with businesses so they can get required certifications. Moy understands there was confusion, but today only begin the protocols to be able to open in the future. The Chapala government is here to support local businesses. 3. Restaurants can reopen dine-in service today at 35% capacity TO LOCALS ONLY. Why only restaurants? Because the governor gave approval for them to open statewide and, since we’ve had 0 confirmed cases in our municipality, we find the protocols and preventative measures of sanitization, hand sanitizer, Sana Distancia requirements sufficient to hopefully will allow restaurateurs and staff to begin to get some income. Moy reiterates:: this is for LOCALS ONLY, as of today, following all health guidelines, 35% occupancy, and is not for tourists or outsiders, who will not be permitted to dine in-restaurant. It is for locals.to help locals gradually reactivate the economy to new normality. Warning to restaurants: If you open as of today, be aware of these measures and respect what we are authorizing. Any restaurant that does not follow these measures will IMMEDIATELY BE CLOSED. We are in a local and worldwide health as well as an economic crisis, so we are taking measures to carefully reopen, yet maintain the health protocols.

  16. The most common name in Spanish for these masks is "cubrebocas". Mouth covers. Many people don't "get it" that the nose also needs to be covered.

  17. Correct use requires you not to touch the outside during or after use of the mask as it is a possible to transfer virus on the outside to your hands or face. If you enter a store, get in your car and drive to another store you should keep the mask on and not touch it. If it is a problem to drive with the mask on between stops... follow proper procedure..remove the mask and dispose of it or place in plastic container for later washing, then disinfect your hands, before touching anything. When you reach your next destination disinfect your hands again, place a new mask correctly. DO NOT use the prior mask (if it is re-usable). Suggest if you are not getting enough air through your nose while wearing the mask to breath through your mouth.

  18. Some folks have breathing problems that the mask exacerbates. Years ago i thought that I had a deviated septum since sometimes I had seemed to have some breathing problems and the specialist told me that this was not the case but that my nostrils were on the smaller size. I notice that with a mask I sometimes have problems getting air so have to pull it down to clear my nose. I try to keep it up if anywhere near others but I am sure there are those with much worse problems than I. I have also read of some car accidents being caused by some with breathing problems suffering blackouts from wearing masks. By the way, why on God's green earth would anyone (especially with breathing problems) be driving alone with a mask on?

  19. Stick your apps and googaws. My wife and I actually go out of the house. My wife is fortunately more physically able and goes to the market everyday and other places from time to time. I suspect we are much happier than you self imposed hermits and your tech crap. Yes we are still cautious so lecturing me is a wasted use of your computer keyboard. Sometime this week I am going to get my 2 drivers license renewals. Try that with yer apps.-SNORK! pedro kertesz

  21. "0 Confirmed cases in Chapala"? First there is NO HOSPITAL that a Mexican would use in Chapala. They are all targeted to Gringo private insurance. If any Mexican was sick from COVID 19 they would most likely go to a hospital in Guadalajara. Second there is NO TESTING that I have seen in order to support this overly broad statement. You can not claim "0 confirmed cases in Chapala" where there is no testing in Chapala, that is absurd. Third if the COVID 19 were in Chapala, from what I see in my neighborhood it would spread like wildfire. Today I left the house to take the garbage to the street and saw 6 people in 2 minutes none of which were wearing masks. Just 2 days ago everyone had masks. One person was a passing motorist that swerved to the left side where I was , to turn his head out his open window and coughed as he passed me, less that 2 ft from my body. The other four walked by in a group chatting as if nothing was going on in the world. Interesting how the meaning of "0 Confirmed Cases" can change depending om he circumstances. The reality of the circumstances are is that nobody wants that number to go up so they are not inclined to start widespread testing and show the real situation. This same thing is happening everywhere in the USA now as testing becomes more available. Not that there are more cases but more being confirmed through testing. No testing seems to imply no confirmed cases. wow isn't that too convenient?

  22. Neither Haro nor Macias are dental surgeons so they 'have specialists' who come in from Guad.... not just any old specialist but specific ones that they have relationships with. And in fact I don't know just how much Haro himself is seeing patients.... more it's just that Haro's Office is and always has been a very good dental choice. I haven't been in Haro's office for a while so can't attest to just how high he might (still) be vs say Barrigan's office. Macias's Dental Express is always less expensive... but/and again I will only use Dr. Macias himself. Just me maybe. IMO, Barragan's office just seems 'more professional' than Macias' Dental Express. I use and respect both but mostly I have used Macias for his expertise and specialized equipment to provide crowns and bridges that are 1)precise w/respect to margins, etc, 2) quick, so available 'same day or next' and not a week or two if impressions have to be sent to Guad which is what everyone else has to do, and 3) cheaper. He also does cosmetic dentistry and implant supported dentures. Barragan charges 7000 pesos for a crown and it takes about 2 weeks start to finish. Macias charges 4400 pesos for a crown and it is available 'immediately'. Barragan's office charged me and my wife only 2300 pesos for a root canal which I think is a bargain AND the care with which it is done is unsurpassed. I have also had periodontal work in that office by a specialist from Guad. I echo the advice to talk to at least 2 of them about the work you feel you need. Check on 'availability' of appointments as they are very popular, especially in the winter season.

  23. It’s a mess out there now. Hard to discern between what’s a real threat and what is just simple panic and hysteria. For a small amount of perspective at this moment, imagine you were born in 1900. On your 14th birthday, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday. 22 million people perish in that war. Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until your 20th birthday. 50 million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million. On your 29th birthday, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, the World GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet. And don’t try to catch your breath. On your 41st birthday, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war. Smallpox was epidemic until you were in your 40’s, as it killed 300 million people during your lifetime. At 50, the Korean War starts. 5 million perish. From your birth, until you are 55 you dealt with the fear of Polio epidemics each summer. You experience friends and family contracting polio and being paralyzed and/or die. At 55 the Vietnam War begins and doesn’t end for 20 years. 4 million people perish in that conflict. During the Cold War, you lived each day with the fear of nuclear annihilation. On your 62nd birthday you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, almost ended. When you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How did they endure all of that? When you were a kid and didn’t think your 85 year old grandparent understood how hard school was. And how mean that kid in your class was. Yet they survived through everything listed above. Perspective is an amazing art. Refined and enlightening as time goes on. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. Your parents and/or grandparents were called to endure all of the above – you are called to stay home and sit on your couch. If I hit "paste in plain text instead" here on this post I get this.

  28. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/04/closing-parks-ineffective-pandemic-theater/609580/ Many of our Mexican neighbors live in crowded homes. They go to the Malecons to get air, sunshine and space. Our immune systems need Vitamin D from exposure to sunshine. This is not only onerous for them it is bad policy. https://www.businessinsider.com/riskiest-to-least-risky-activities-during-coronavirus-pandemic-ranked-2020-5?r=MX&IR=T#low-risk-touching-mail-or-groceries-13
