  1. That's due to the lock down not a weakening of the virus.

  3. The roof sealants that are sold here vary greatly in quality and price. I am of the opinion you get what you pay for. The cheaper ones don't last very long and you need to continually recoat your roof. The best I have found is the 12 yr. Fester but at over $2000 pesos per 19 ltr. pail not cheap. I redid my roof with it about 7 years ago and it still looks great and no leaks. The white sealants reflect more sunlight and can make your house feel cooler in the hotter months.

  4. Lol, while you are at it, why not get Superlake to stop price gouging too. You will be just as successful.

  5. If it's a new roof, you are supposed to use a thinned coat first, then 2 coats unthinned. BTW white waterproofing paint wil keep your house cooler than red.

  6. And where are people who are stuck here supposed to go? What a nasty thing to say to someone who has suffered such a calamity. Both of you posters should be ashamed. What makes you so self-righteous that you feel you have to post to pile onto someone's misery? Okay, you may feel that way and it is your right, but to post makes me feel sick....this is a time for compassion, not vilification .

  7. I was at Superlake this morning about 11. Throughout the store some employees were wearing masks, some not. At check-out, most were, including baggers. I was alarmed to see so many employees not wearing masks, especially bothered to see three employees not wearing masks chatting together, standing close to one another. If this rule on wearing masks and distancing is that lax, their boss is to blame. But it's also a sign that so many young employees just don't get it-- Never thought I'd say it, but I'm going back to Walmart for a while more until Superlake shapes up. Interesting to see that customers wore masks and kept a distance in checkout lines, including me. But that's not good enough. The point is for all of us to protect ourselves and others. Lexy

  8. Sweden may not be the best example of a successful recovery. Swedes don't tend to live close together and have an excellent health care system. They also have much higher numbers for COVID-19 cases and deaths than their Scandinavian neighbors. Their deaths per million rate ranks in the top 10 in the world. And their economic recovery rate is about the same as other EU countries.

  10. That's a pretty over the top response to a simple question. Take a deep breath and don't assume why the question was asked. Paco I think if the airlines are booking seats, they are flying. At least from here to Oaxaca Volaris isn't booking anything until next month. Given how the goal posts keep moving I wouldn't have a lot of confidence about bookings even a month from now.

  11. I have blueprints for my house (in a different frac), and the blueprints are incorrect with regard to the location of the sewage pipes (and don't even show the fosa). I ended up using Jose Martinez to find the blockage and the fosa. He uses a camera on a cable in the pipes to estimate distance and direction. Although that may only be moderately useful with a big lot and a long distance to the fosa.

  13. Distancing is very possible in many restaurants. In one I ate at recently the main seating was outside. The nearest table with other clients was about 40 feet away. When the waitress brought our food she was wearing a mask. She could have put our food at the adjacent empty table but we didn't think that was necessary. Who know what goes on in the kitchen but you usually never do.

  14. Generally, "happyjillan" you're simply offensive and overbearing in many of your response posts. It appears that as you're so incredibly proud of what you think you know, you simply can't wait to tell all! From here on in, at least for me, and quite a few others who I know well....YOU SIR, ARE PERMANENTLY BLOCKED!

  16. If you think that the IRS does not have any bank account for you, you may want to go onto the "Get My Payment" website and see if it will let you enter an account.... even if it is a Mexican bank. Although I was 'sure' that I would finally get the stimulus payment in my SS bank account, I went ahead and entered a bank account on the site anyway just to be safe. YMMV https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/05/11/still-waiting-your-stimulus-check-you-have-until-12-pm-wednesday-give-irs-your-bank-information/?utm_campaign=wp_post_most&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&wpisrc=nl_most

  17. That's a pretty extreme case I think. That doesn't change the fact overall death rates are not that high. Also doesn't change the fact almost all the young and healthy survive. This is mainly a killer of older people. Yes, your source cites complications in a few children that might be due to the virus. They haven't confirmed that yet according to your source. I wonder how many will die from this? https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/coronavirus/coronavirus-could-leave-up-to-10-million-more-in-poverty/ We are in a Catch 22 situation. The U.N. among others is saying that hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, will die from the poverty caused by the government reaction to this situation. Here in Mexico, how many of those ten million will die from poverty? Poverty BTW is more likely to kill the young, the future, versus this disease which mainly kills the old, the past. What is the better outcome?

  18. I assume you are repairing a flat roof. I put a membrane roof on one store I had. It was installed using a torch to seal the edges. One advantage is it is easily repaired. However if it was me, I would contact 3 different contractors and see how they say, they would fix it. Most of the measures you are receiving are temporary measures and will have to be redone in a few years. Sealer to me is not a viable option. A membrane roof with a slurry coat might be your best answer.

  20. ...but is their economy in the toilet like the rest of Europe? Imagine if Ike had called off D-Day because he knew there would be many killed. Not apples for apples but it might make some think. A ruined economy means lots of deaths also, just not ID'd as CV on the death cert.

  21. A quicker method: Put muriatic acid in a small bowl and hold it up to the shower head for a few minutes. The acid will dissolve the built up minerals. Run the shower with cold water to rinse. Naturally, use care and rubber gloves, etc. You can also use this method for the lavatory sink faucet screens, which are often difficult to remove.

  25. Lucy, the office manager for Chula Vista, can provide you with the file on your proerty. You may find lots of interesting goodies in there. Because of the distance involved they couldn't use the camera until they got within range. They dug about six holes trying to trace the pipe, including breaking through concrete on the patio by the pool which they repaired. It took all day. We were somewhat desperate and their price reflected it. We now have cleanouts to mark the two tanks. SunFan

  26. Ever since Pancho's opened, I've preferred shopping there instead of Superlake. He's responsive when asked to bring in new/additional items. I like the products (including alcohol) he's bringing in from Costco as well as the fresh food at the back of the store near the Deli. I was there yesterday or the day before and everyone was wearing masks, lots of hand sanitizer everywhere, directional arrows on the aisles and adherence to social distancing. Many thanks to Pancho and his employees for taking precautions in an effort to keep their clientele safe while shopping. Salud! Val

  29. I am also a resident in Upper CV. A few years ago I got a copy of the blueprints for my home built in 2006, from the office. The plans did NOT show the location of the septic tank despite showing the lot bounaries and swimming pool. It eventually cost $26,000 pesos to finally locate and clear a septic problem. An intake pipe had subsided and caused a bottleneck. The tank was over 40 meters away in the opposite corner of the lot from where the waste pipe ran down from the house. Like most homes here setic tanks don't have visible clean outs. I wish you good luck. SunFan

It's not my favorite color to look at, But I am at the top of the hill on Juarez in Ajijic and no one lives above me anyway. And the only time I look at it is when I check the roof every 3 to 6 months for possible maintenance needs.

  38. With regard to food safety on take out or delivery, our opinion is that if we trusted their process before, we trust it now. If you think someone is mishandling food, why would you ever give them business?

  44. One of the local restaurants, El Fogon de Charlotte, prior to the gov. mandate to close had removed enough tables/chairs to allow a very generous social distancing. They also sanitized the tables before each customer was seated. In addition they had a hand sanitizer station for patrons to use and they use masks. Now we just order delivery or pick up but If Charlottte's were offering "dine in" we would probably go at this time. Granted we are 73 and 70 with no pre-existing conditions. I have to think that if the government deems it safe do go back in the water in a few weeks, are we really any safer at that point than now?

  45. Respectfully: From what I read, every health expert in almost every country says social-distancing and hand washing are the two most critical things to do to avoid COVD-19. With that said, I'm wondering why, probably mostly expats) would put themselves and others at risk by going out to a restaurant where distancing is nearly impossible. How do you order w/o getting close? I don't see food being put on an empty table 6 feet away and customers going to get the food. Just my comment/question and no more.
