  1. And here I though the virus only effected the lungs 😊

  2. I didn't find it. It was sent to me by a friend who said I would like it. I did. I found it uplifting... as the tears cascaded down my face. It reminded me of Desiderata. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others…even the dull and the ignorant for they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons for they are vexations unto the spirit. If you compare yourself with others you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble…it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs for the world is full of trickery. But, let this not blind you to what virtue there is…many persons strive for high ideals and everywhere, life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love for, in the face of all aridity, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the council of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings for many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here and, whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be…and, whatever your aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Strive to be happy. Found in old St. Paul’s Church 1692 Baltimore, Maryland

  8. S.O.B. I agree with Jreboll. It's where you have your strongest resources. Although I have family in Canada, I have lived in Mexico for 24 years and everything is at my fingertips and close by. Doctors who make housecalls and a hospital 5 minutes away. A well stocked pantry and home delivery for nearly anything I could want or need. Hangin' out in paradise...with TWO good internet sources.

  9. Then there are those who see a problem as they sit in chairs in front of their computers and manufacture fantasy solutions that SOMEONE should implement. No matter how ignorant they may be about the entire problem and how unrealistic their fantasy solution is they will still be congratulated by some as having offered a positive response.

  10. That's an understatement and especially after reading the link Mainecoons posted. They know the virus is ramping up so what do they do, its kinda like lets pour more fuel on an out of control fire. Because when I was a firefighter/EMT how people cross contaminate was preached to us and not to become a victim. All its going to take is that one person that picked up the virus that has not utilized proper sanitization protocols to go to the tianguis and start touching all the tomatoes, onions etc etc and put them back cause it wasn't what they wanted only to have 10 other people do the same thing all over again.

  20. It’ll depend on where you have your strongest resources. Here NOB I have a well stocked pantry, refrigerator and home delivery for most items. I don’t have that in my home in Michoacan but some of you might. My kids are nearby and the doctor who has seen me for the last 20 yrs. I have two hospitals less than 5 minutes away. If you’re well set up in Mexico and don’t have good resources NOB then you should stay there.

  21. You won't see those kinds of labels unless they are leaving the big bags in the aisles. So I don't know what you are referring to. The vendors at the tianguis also bring in loads of stuff from the abastos. One reason it isn't nearly as good as it used to be for fresh stuff. You do know that fruit and veg are classed, not just by type but by size and quality. And it's a lot cheaper for someone to buy a class 4 apple than a class 1, and so you see a lot of subpar product out there now. There you will see those bags. In fact, it was Pancho's whole schtick to hit the abastos in the wee hours of the morning to get the best stuff, especially stuff he learned that the expats wanted, to stock the originally very small fruit and veg stand.... and grew it into what you see today. Or at least what it was when he left. Judy King has a chapter in her book about Superlake when Pancho was there. An entire chapter, that explains how they import from the US, and the trials and tribulations they face every step of the way, and the high cost of the effort. Shopping, shipping, trucks, drivers, border duties and import fees, custom labels in Spanish for everything... the list is endless and goes a long way towards explaining the high cost of a lot those things by the time they get here.

  22. Right on. Anyone can manufacture basic cloth masks. There are only a few companies in the world that are able to make masks certified N95. If you have seen the assembly line it is easy to understand

  23. I am ignorant about life support system but U just found out that my brother was on a ventilator and a ecmo machine I guess, It sounds like the equivalent of the dyalysis where the blood is being oxigenated outside of the body as the respirator is not enough.. I wonder how much of those they will need as well when it s all over.. catherer gets put in in one of the artery and the blood is circulating outside of the body and oxignated and put back in the body with another tube.. In order to do that you need to be in lots of blood thinner, too little blocks the system and with too much you can hemorrage..That wonderful system has a flaw as it can be infected with staphilococs pretty easily, which it did.. .besides that they say his lungs are improving so if the hospital does not kill him he may come out of it.. Of course the longer you are on the respirator and the more chances you have to damage your organs . His are good so far.. but If it takes that much work to save one person imagine what will happen in Mexico...

  27. “The tragedy we are experiencing summons us to take seriously the things that are serious, and not to be caught up in those that matter less; to rediscover that life is of no use if not used to serve others. For life is measured by love,” Francis said on Sunday. “May we reach out to those who are suffering and those most in need. May we not be concerned about what we lack, but what good we can do for others,” he said.

  28. Today I had to come to a complete stop on the carretera because of the truck watering the new plants in the hideous bike path dividers. Then I had to make an illegal pass over the solid yellow line to pass it. Why would anyone want to live here ?! Have a great weekend everyone EDIT lighten up folks, if it wasn't OBVIOUS before...stopping for a water truck is not any inconvenience at all, the dividers look great and even if these two things were bad they would not be a reason not to live here... Just posting an anti "avoid" thread with sarcasm that used silly complaints.
