  1. You made up the quote "none were moved." It does not exist in the article. Here is REAL quote from story, below. I don't quibble that airlines aren't in it for the $$, but your insinuation that there were not moved by attendants implies the attendants were negligent and at fault. “The reasoning behind it is, well, they bought basic economy fares, so we can’t put them further up in the cabin, because that would be an upgrade,” she explained. She said that the flight attendants “took it upon ourselves to spread them out.”

  2. It's population control. Why do you think it affects the elderly, those with pre existing medical conditions and pregnant women. It's about baby boomers, SS benefits and the depletion of the world's natural resources. How's that for a conspiracy theory?

  4. I have to raise an eyebrow every time someone mentions how WalMart has killed the little guy. The truth is, every giant corporation has killed the little guy, and it's always been from a small start, back when you would have applauded their fortitude and ingenuity. And I can't even say "that's the future" of business, because it's been the future of business worldwide for decades and decades. Yearning for the days of Pop's Soda Shoppe is like wishing we could have kept horses and carriages instead of getting automobiles. I still regret the tire industry stealing the food out of the mouths of the guy in the B.C. comics who crafted the first wheel out of stone. Whether you agree with their tactics or not is another story.

  5. Although I have not been to the Tuesday market in years, as I recall the overwhelming majority of those present appeared to be well over 60. The US CDC strongly recommends that those over 60 try to avoid all shopping trips period. It seems odd that a market targeting health conscious individuals should encourage people to ignore that guidance. b/t/w the reason I stopped going was because people were constantly trying to out jockey each other to get to items of choice. I can’t see them being good practitioners of social distancing.

  7. Why let facts interfere with a good story? I didn't even have to look to see who posted it. I just knew. With all of the other hyperbole out there (some legit, much not), why is it so necessary to add more? No, don't tell me...I already know.

  14. No, most of their very few trucks are grants. It's not something I keep track of, but I certainly have read all the reports over the years of the last four administrations here, and they ALL made huge loans, they ALL stole tons of money when they left, and the municipality will never get out of debt. How long is it until the next election, when the debt moves over to the next Presidente and the current one walks off with everything he can... You ask about "credible plans"? Here?

  18. Source Wall Street Journal and repeated by esquire in case you do not have a Wall Street Journal Subscription: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a31968811/trump-signature-coronavirus-stimulus-checks/ "But despite the bipartisan nature of the emergency package, the Wall Street Journal reports that the president wants to inject a truly Trumpian measure: He'd like Americans to see his signature on the stimulus checks they receive." Add that to the following: We won't even go into details about his tweet about coronavirus ratings being a hit. It went on from there but, well, you get the idea.

  20. Combined with social distancing and hand washing, they are fine for the purpose and better than nothing. The virus is large and any tightly woven cotton is comfortable, functional and washes well with soap and water. Yes, thanks Bisbee Gal. I'm out of reactions already today. I have neither hair elastics nor squares of material or scarves and I'm not going out to find them.

  21. When you reach the front security desk at the front door your temperature is taken and you are offered a mask. Patients are only allowed to be accompanied by one person. (no more mamma, pappa and 5 little ones) They do have valet parking (5 or 6 peso hour) as parking in the area is tight because of all of the construction under way. A physician told me when I asked, that San Javier has only 4 current cases of covid 19. 2 are in ICU and 2 in special isolation rooms. They also had 4 cases in the last 2 weeks but all got better and were released. The doctor, who has privileges at numerous Hospitals in the area, said San Javier was the cleanest (virus wise) currently. The Hospital San Javier has been completely remodeled since my week there a dozen years ago. Very good experience. Pay was accepted by US or Mexican credit card. The room furnishings are top drawer with new Stryker beds and completely re-decorated. One should never get rushed into a procedure, that said there were circumstances: My friend needed to get in, get procedure and get out before the virus case rush hits. This was accomplished. All of the Guadalajara hospitals expect to be inundated with covid19 cases in the next 2-3 weeks.

  27. Years ago, like 13 or 14, there were meetings of folks in Riberas about the sewer. When they heard the price for each property, many backed away fast. You see how the burned out lights get replaced in the neighborhoods and how crappy many of the dirt and cobbled roads are and the flooding in the summer; Chapala doesn't care about Riberas and hasn't for a good while.

  32. What I did when I went out the other day and wore mask and gloves every time I entered a store was to first unload my purchases into a part of the car not near the driver's seat, then remove the gloves, carefully not touching the outside of my gloved hand with the now ungloved hand, then unhooked the mask by hooking a finger under the elastic holding the mask on and slipped it off. Both the mask and gloves went into a bag I had brought for that purpose. Then I washed my hands well with the soap and water I had brought with me and used one of the clorox wipes I had brought long to wipe down the door handles I had touched when unloading the groceries. I had enough masks and gloves with me to don fresh ones every time I went in a store. I really thought a lot about what I was doing as far as the order and way to do it so as to not unwittingly contaminate anything, but it's hard to wrap your mind around unless you're a health professional, which I'm not, and trained in these things. Wearing the gloves made me aware not to touch my face or any other part of my body, even though I had a mask on. Of course everything I touched when I had them on was theoretically contaminated. The point was that I could take them off after I had unloaded everything, so I wasn't touching anything in my car with contaminated hands, including the soap and the water jug I'd brought along. The hand washing was just a double precaution.

  38. I'm not jealous of the U.S., never have been and never will be. There are many, many countries that I would rather live in than the U.S. I prefer a country that takes care of all of its people. I understand that a Governor has the say over his people but, do you think that guidance (read suggestion based on knowledge) from the top is out of place in this situation? Flip side... when a country goes to war, can the Governor of a particular state refuse to send troops?

  39. There is no free lunch with the Chinese government, they live for money. They send defective equipment to Spain, sold the masks France had ordered to the US because they pay more for them and if they do anything for free there is an ulterior motive, that is the way the Chinese government works. They lied as long and as much as they could about the virus and we have them to thank for not being warned properly

  41. About wearing masks: Austria has been distributing free face masks at grocery stores and pharmacies since Monday. Czech, Slovakia, Bosnia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan mandate mask use in public. Both C. D. C. and WHO are reviewing their previous recommendations and considering to reverse it. NY Times: "The C.D.C. is expected to advise all Americans to wear cloth masks in public." Maybe start the reverse behavior training if someone like to touch the face. I bought a bunch from Operation Feed for the gardner and his family. I'm certain pretty soon we will see more mask wearing people to protect yourselves and people around you.

  43. This morning I rolled over at about 6 .30 ..( a little fuzzy perhaps ...more wine than usual..the virus. .? ) ....our house was enveloped with birdsong...without moving my head ( thankfully). .I could see the first few shards of daylight gradually tingeing the sky through our palms looking across the lake to Mt Garcia . Believe it or not I thought about your post ...one thing ... Nay ...not possible...so...I’m gonna give you a quick list... the Mexican smile , our friends from all over the globe , .middle of the night thunderstorm in summer .. the hiking trails ,streams and waterfalls ., the malecon with all its water birds and flora ,our local restaurants far from perfect but .they try ,the blood red sunsets in the fall....the giving nature of the expats who contribute so much to local charities....we may never be a Puebla Magico but we are a magic village .Is it perfect....far from it ....but the idea that that something so insidious and vile as the c virus is gradually making its way here just breaks my heart... let’s hope....

Their answer was, what are we supposed to do? We have to work to eat we cannot stay isolated. In a country where many lieve day to day , there is very little choice.
