  1. Good luck to you nob. Isolation is not impossible here, you are stoking fears. I'd rather be here than up north.

  3. I suggest you go and visit a few restaurant kitchens and that should take care of your widely optimistic ideas of how safe the kitchens are....

  4. Actually Kam and Kyle, I checked out a few OTHER LOCAL VENDERS first because i wanted to stay from groups of people and I didn’t find any. You probably know that produce is perishably and sometimes sellers have better quality than others. I was simply letting people know that Superlake, a locally owned store that has employed many local people for years, had some nice produce.

  5. The topic was a listing of restaurants that deliver. Yet, some go off topic to advance their own views on everything. Take your ADHD meds and chill out.

  6. The owner of Superlake is a local, born, raised, and lived his whole life just a few blocks from the store.

  9. if isolation is possible in Paris, it is possible in Ajijic.. Everyone is under the same virus and no matter what we will survive and some of us will die wether you are in the States, Mexico or anywhere else. France has a great reputation for their healthcare and they are doing triage in big cities are they are running out of beds and respirators so good luck to everyone anywhere in the world. Ajijic is not a bad place to be if you want to isolate yourself, at least we have a nice climate.

  15. I get it and am staying in for five days, I really don't like the idea of not leaving the house for 5 days nor not having the cleaning lady here, but, life goes on and I want to be part of that for a few to many more years.

  18. You can pass the virus to others without showing any symptoms yourself. It has a 14 day incubation period. People with self-absorbed and ill-informed attitudes like yours are going to cause more people to get sick and/or die.

  19. Thank you. There are enough self-centered people living in this community that it blows my mind. We prepaid our workers for 5-Weeks "sick leave" and sent $1150 worth of fresh produce and meats, plus plenty of non-perishables to them, so they don't have to get on a rolling Petri dish to come serve us or feed their family. Yet many I know are still having their maids in at great risk to EVERYONE!. Wake up people! Watch the story of the first months in Wuhan and the havoc this wreaked on the lives of the citizens. We are a very vulnerable population with a seriously inadequate health system. It will take one inconsiderate person to strike a match to the tinder pile.

  20. I'm not saying quarantining is a bad idea, but, Why FIVE days? Why THESE five days? And what happens on the 6th day....voila, we're all safe???

  21. That includes delivery people. We should be as concerned for the well being of others as we are for ourselves. NOTHING is more important at this time as EVERYONE staying home. What's so difficult to understand about the absolute urgency of this?

  22. In reality, the vast majority of the population WHERE WE ARE LIVING earns and spends in pesos. It does not matter one bit how much a Big Mac costs in ANOTHER COUNTRY. I think and spend in pesos — you know, the currency of the country in which I live. You may have plenty of DOLLARS to throw around and good for you. But you are not the majority here and contrary to what some foreigners think this is not a Disneyland created and run for your entertainment.

  26. A friend mentioned that a Facebook page has been set up to list restaurants that are delivering in the Lakeside area. If the link doesn't work, look up deliverylakeside on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/deliverylakeside/ Sometimes there needs to be a balance between sensible caution and paranoia IMHO.

  31. I AM THE PERSON who posted this. YES I read AND AM ABIDING BY the 5 day quarantine! I asked the question because I don't understand phone delivery apps (NO, NOW is not the time to get a tech person!) I just wanted to know if anyone does food delivery. Delivery can be done safely. LISTEN TO CNN's DR. GUPTA, who DOES order food in! It can be done by leaving the payment & tip outside the door. When the food arrives, wait till the delivery person leaves, take the main packing bag off and leave it in outside garbage. Bring containers in, wipe with Clorox wipes (doing all this with gloves) THEN put the food inside your own dishes. I BELIEVE this quarantine will continue! I want to prepare. Those couples with big cars who bought out the stores to fill their giant freezers don't understand a car-less person alone in tiny Ajijic living with a small freezer. Oh, and for the comments on NYC- I lived there 13 years with kind ingenious people, and they (and Dr. Gupta) said, food delivery can be done safely and enjoyed. It COULD help save many local restaurants as well. Thank you RIlady!

  32. Made with alcohol, the NHS, Public Health England and other health organisations worldwide have assured people that anti bacterial hand sanitisers with 60% alcohol content and above are effective against viruses, such as the new coronavirus, but emphasise soap and water is the best option.

  33. I don't understand what people are talking about "staying home for a few days" ???? We need to stay home ongoingly, until all cases have been identified and contained. And that's not going to happen in a few days, folks. Don't go out, except for walks and excursions where you aren't in close contact with others, unless necessary, and then take precautions. Best if people band together and only one person goes out shopping for a few friends. Take turns. Then only one person has to take all the cleaning measures necessary when they get home. The thing about self-isolating for 5-7 days was regarding being possibly or knowingly exposed and not going out at all until there's been time to see if you develop symptoms, so you can get medical help if necessary. By the way, regarding bleach to disinfect surfaces- don't overdo the bleach- more isn't better. 4teaspoons to a liter of water. The water content is necessary to make the bleach effective.

  35. Two people in Nigeria just dies from taking chloroquine in the belief that it would protect them from COVID19 and more people in other places are being hospitalized for the same thing. You'd have to be mentally deficient to self-medicate on the basis of what the POTUS says, wich right away was proven as false. It has not been approved by the FDA.

  36. I really really hope that when you find you don't need it for the coronavirus, you will give it to someone who has rheumatoid or spondyloarthritis who requires plaquenil (hydroxycloroquine) to live comfortably and hasn't been able to buy it recently.

  37. Thanks ComputerGuy for the cost analysis. I have ate at restaurants which did not have a price on the menu but not since I retired. Cost and quality of meal is important to us and we are not going to go to a restaurant with high prices when there there are plenty of good restaurants Lakeside which charge reasonable prices. We usually eat out twice a day so price can become very important. I have found high prices don't always mean the best meals. In fact some of the highest prices I have paid here were for mediocre meals.

  43. Where did you find the metric for expensive or cheap or decent? I did google “metric for food prices in Ajijic” didn’t find anything... Perhaps it would be better to say that “YOU THINK” it is expensive... for some people is not about the price, is about the experience... so, don’t look for restaurants cause you will always be disappointed when “YOU THINK” is expensive or it is our of “YOUR BUDGET”, just find the restaurants that have the prices you like and talk good things about those instead of complaining about the ones you can’t afford or the ones that have the prices that you don’t want to pay... Wouldn’t you be happier if you did that? 😄
