  1. Get your head out of the sand and realize this is not overblown hype. Sitting next to someone at Open Circle who has been exposed to the virus coming from US, UK, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and many other countries is not particularly safe. It can be spread with no symptoms.

  3. This is about more than stocking up on toilet paper. This article is not hype, nor is it "stupid and overblown". Read it if you are interested in a very clear, intelligent, non-hype statistical evaluation of the pandemic and how various countries have responded successfully and what in all probability will happen in the coming weeks. The title of the article is "Coronavirus: Why you must act now"- by Tomas Pueyo https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca In Lakeside, with a large number of ex-pats traveling frequently out of the country, there is a higher risk than perhaps other parts of Mexico. The recommendation for anyone arriving here from a country which has incidence of this virus is to self-quarantine for 14 days. This can significantly restrict the spread of the virus in this country. The virus can be spread before there are any symptoms. Ignoring the significance of this is a danger to everyone.

  5. Yes, the form itself is called a FMM. That's exactly what I said. The "tourist card" is a part of the FMM form, but only if it is marked as such. If FMM were synomymous with tourist card, then residents wouldn't be required to fill them out, and if the bottom half was synonymous with tourist card, then residents wouldn't have to turn that bottom part in to INM when they fly out of the country. Ground beef is used to make spaghetti sauce. That doesn't mean that ground beef is spaghetti sauce. That is only one of its uses.

  17. The posts yesterday that drew attention to both Casa Fuerte in Tlaquepaque and Pancho's in Riberas addressed how great Casa Fuerte is and always has been in virtually every category that one would want in a great restaurant and how terribly inconsistent Pancho's Deli in Riberas del Pilar, Chapala has been since the day it opened. Casa Fuerte excels while Pancho's generally disgusts. However, closer to home we have Scallions which is located in Plaza Bugambilias next door to El Torito. The restaurant, for those who don't know, is the totally renovated space previously occupied by the cafeteria style restaurant, of many years known as Salvatores. Salvatores was a breakfast/luncheon establishment serving simple fare at low prices. Nothing extraordinary. Scallions however is a very welcome addition to the restaurant scene at Lakeside. Much improved facility. Uncrowded layout, great washrooms, exceptional well designed kitchen, knowledgeable bar staff, friendly experienced wait staff, wide ranging aggressive menu that most restaurants would never dare attempt but...Scallions does it well. Excellent value and some of the best food, consistently, that's available at Lakeside. Erik Sanchez the owner manager is originally from Ajijic and returned here with his Italian wife after having been many years away from Mexico. Unfortunately his brother who also returned to Ajijic and was intended to be the primary force behind the restaurant, died just weeks before the scheduled opening. That caused some early hiccups for sure! Test: Try it for breakfast but ask to read a menu for later in the day. I should mention to those in the community who so frequently talk about searching out the best burger. There has never been a burger offered at Lakeside that even remotely compares to Scallions! Nuff said perhaps but we have too many restaurants in the Lakeside communities. Many are doomed from the day they open. When a good one comes along we should do everything to support and encourage them!

  23. The video looks totally staged...not one other person in any waiting area. Surely you realize that many people post on Youtube for money...they are compensated for the number of hits. These people post a video every few days. They have upwards of 500 videos currently showing; though many are repetitive with similar clickbait titles.

  24. @AngusMactavishYou keep posting these videos by this couple...do you get a cut of the action? This one looks totally staged....not one other person in the hospital waiting rooms, throughout it. Video has shots of large waiting rooms, entrance area, with not another soul in sight. I call BS on it.

  27. This virus can make you really, real sick. It makes it hard to breath. It is hard on the old timers. Stay strong, get healthy, boost your immune system with good fruits and vegetables vitamins and supplements. Vitamin C., Nac, fish oil and whatever you think will give you a boost. Rest and exercise, hydration. It is possible that 70% of the population will get the virus. Wash your hands and spray your throat with anti-septic.

  31. I found this online. Mexico is not testing for covid and therefore has a low number of cases. I even read somewhere that there are only 3 hospitals certified to test. Below from the Puerto Vallarta News. There was a similar article in the Mexico News Daily this week also. We all know how the Mexican bureaucracy can be very frustrating to say the least. When something changes it can be years before every procedure is decided upon. Now with the upheaval in IMSS and Seguro Populare, it is a safe bet that the medical system is in shambles. It is likely in no way capable to deal with covid. Of course, this effects private doctors too. The Mexican Health Ministry has confirmed that less than 300 people have been tested for the coronavirus since February 8, when the first case was announced. As of today, Mexico has only confirmed 8 cases of the pandemic. “I’m worried about the lack of diagnostic testing,” said Francisco Moreno, infectious disease specialist and head of Internal Medicine at ABC Hospital in Mexico City. “If Mexico has undetected cases circulating, the spread of the disease is going to be brutal.” At the same time, Mexico has seen an increase in deaths being contributed to seasonal influenza, which without testing could be misdiagnosed due to the similarities between influenza and the coronavirus.Mexico’s President has continued to reassure people, “We have the best experts on the matter. We still have the same number of cases and luckily there’s been no loss of life. We’re not hiding information from the population.” Moreno suggested that Mexico is waiting for the pandemic to create problems before addressing the spread. Currently, Mexico is only allowing testing for people who have known direct contact with the 8 confirmed cases in Mexico or recent travels to high-risk areas. “It’s likely that they’ve missed some cases and will continue to do so if they don’t increase testing,” says Alejandro Macias, the former national commissioner for influenza in Mexico during the H1N1 outbreak. The government of Mexico has misled the public about the risks and possible exposure, including denying a passenger on a Princess Cruise that tested positive had visited Mexico, despite passenger logs. The daily press briefings with Mexico’s President include accusations that conservatives are using the coronavirus to end his presidency. Mexico has successfully kept the coronavirus numbers low, not through prevention, but through a lack of testing driven by politics and not the health of the public.

  33. The easiest and safest way to order from Mercado Libre is by paying cash at Oxxo. Also, make sure you choose a reputable dealer whose customers are happy. I've ordered many times using both criteria and the product(s) always arrive(s) promptly and I'm very satisfied.

  37. I would fly up to Seattle 3 times per year and I remember that when we had that crisis around 2009 or so that when I went to the Guadalajara Airport, there were people there wearing face masks for protection, and forcing everyone to have their temperature taken. They had some type of thermometer that they placed against your forehead and if your temperature was to high you were sent or taken somewhere. I don't know where, because I was OK and was more worried about catching my flight. I am over reacting to this outbreak and have purchased a large can of Corona Beer and then when going a small event I will wear my face mask, really a dusk mask, and sit down at the table and tell them I have Corona. And then after watching how they react, I say I have proof and I put the can of Corona Beer on the table. Some folks got really upset with me, others laughed I think maybe I should stop, because some were really upset about what I had done.
