  4. I couldn't care less if you end up being right or not (although it would be fun to watch you eat that sombrero you had in your last profile pic). I said it was a possibility. And probably a more probable one now that travel from Europe has been banned. Bisbee Gal, thanks for posting the links. What we don't need now is people posting their ignorance and misinformation.

  5. You need to see a Cardiologist. Any answer given to you on here will be totally irrelevant. It's not like shopping at Cosco.

  7. If you just want glasses and a basic eye exam, Dr Luz does an excellent job. If you want an complete eye exam, I recommend Dra. Claudia in Chapala. She is the best IMHO. Phone: 33 3403 3857 Appointments: eyecenterchapala.com

  8. Also if you decide you want to sell the place, having the electric and phone in your name simplifies using the tax exemption.

  9. The real question is why you would want to have the account changed to a tenants name? In Mexico it would be extremely rare. Normally the phone and electricity stays in the homeowner's name here

  18. First hope you the all the best on your remodel. Not retired from the contracting, though I did build a house while in High school. Last time fishing in Barra Navidad was in 1975. Still say there is no such thing as a "licensed contractor" in Mexico. Anyone can call themselves a contractor. People should be aware that a licensed Architect or Engineer should be used at some point. They are the only ones who can sign for a building permit.

  19. I know there is no permit needed and I really don't care about cedulas because I have hired him and his crew before and have known him,his wife and kids for 13+ years. So you're retired from the "contracting" business now and spend most of your time fishing in Barra de Navidad? It's really interesting that my guy has a daughter who is a lawyer but wants to change to become a school teacher and 2 sons studying to become an architect and engineer. I am enjoying this reno and nothing is going to keep me from enjoying it from start to finish. Fish all you want-ja!

  20. If I am at Centro Laguna and want to go to Walmart, I never try to cross the carretera. I go up to one of the Centro Laguna exits and exit southbound onto the libramiento. Lots easier and safer. Unfortunately there is no good way to exit Walmart and head west. But i do think nobody should try to exit from near AutoZone. Why the did not put in 4-way stop light at that intersection is beyond me.

  21. For sure people can build up a resistance to certain things like that in their environment. You can travel to a perfectly civilized first world country and get a bad stomach from drinking the perfectly safe water simply because it might be composed of different things than the water you are used to drinking. Also, many Americans and Canadians are germ-a-phobes- they keep thing so clean and sterilized they never build up any resistance to anything. Doctors came out with warnings about this years ago- that the overuse of antibacterial soaps on a regular basis in one's home is leading to greatly increased cases of asthma and allergies in children. But things like parasites and salmonella don't differentiate between the color of someone's skin or their nationality.

  22. That's an entirely false and ignorant statement. Mexicans also get parasites and get treated for them. You think all those parasite medications in the pharmacies are there purely for the use of gringoes? And no, all Mexican restaurants don't recycle everything, including what's on the floor. Your statements are racist.

  26. Novel Coronavirus Update - as of February 29, 2020 VA Portland Health Care System is closely following and responding to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus). We are aware of a presumed positive case in the Portland metro area. We are in close contact with our Public Health partners, who are working to identify and contact all persons exposed to this case. Public health is currently NOT recommending COVID-19 testing for people without symptoms. Seeking medical care: If you would not otherwise seek medical care for a respiratory illness (cold), this is not a reason to seek care now. Please take care of mild symptoms at home to avoid exposing others. If you have more severe symptoms like difficulty breathing or inability to stay hydrated, call your medical provider to discuss symptoms and any possible exposure to a known COVID-19 case. If you do need to be seen, a plan can be made to avoid exposing others and limit spread in the community. Please use MyHealtheVet or call 503-220-8262, option 2 to relay a message to your Primary or Specialty Care team or to make change or cancel an appointment. Remember to practice these routine actions that help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. These include: Stay home at the first sign of illness. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, throw the tissue in the trash and do hand hygiene. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Avoid unnecessary contact with people who have symptoms of respiratory illness.

  27. I have stayed at the la Quinta airport several times. In years past it has been well kept up and has a fair Tex mex restaurant next door. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side for Tex mex.

  29. Dra. Claudia Camacho Choza on the second floor above the immigration office on Hidalgo in Chapala. I have a cell number for her office, 33 3403-3857 but am not sure if that's up-to-date. Both eyes were done (one at a time) and both were successful.

  30. Believe it or not there are prices online made up of what folks have been charged. For example in the USA the cost is now running from $28-$32K. These are published for many countries but not Mexico's gringo areas.

  31. I would think that it is possible to share whatever costs someone has experienced...True there are variables, but the basic procedure is not exactly a new science ...so come on folks cough up and share what and when and where you received this procedure.

  32. Mexico only has 8 cases. About 1 case in 3 million residents. USA has 1135 or 1 case in about 300,000 residents. Mexico would be more at risk than the USA..... Same bet 50 to 1 ... Border between USA and Mexico will be not be closed in either direction for corona virus. Actually can you name a border in the world that has been closed for corona virus?
