  1. I'm writing this not to beat anyone up, but just as a general word of advice for those of you who may be relatively new to the area or clueless/uncaring with all of the changes in the roads during this "wonderful" time of construction. I know that there are many problems, on all sides, when it comes to motos, cars and traffic, but please be aware of your surroundings if you're the one in the car. Yes, scooters/bikes/whatever dart out, but many cars also cut them off when the moto has the right-of-way. Yesterday, I was in the right-hand turn lane (NOT the ciclopista), signal blinking, in front

  3. So Eric, is it true that should you have been in the greater Seattle Kirkland area, like I was and if you were exposed to the Corona virus, like I might have been, that drinking a Corona beer at least once per day like I did, that the chances are the symptoms from the virus will be less? It has worked for me. I have been back three weeks now and I am feeling pretty good.

  4. That's an entirely false and ignorant statement. Mexicans also get parasites and get treated for them. You think all those parasite medications in the pharmacies are there purely for the use of gringoes? And no, all Mexican restaurants don't recycle everything, including what's on the floor. Your statements are racist.

  5. Much of those scary events would be avoided if there where a 4 traffic light system allowing controlled traffic to enter and exit Walmart. Do I recall correctly that a system was once in place?

  6. I sympathize with your encounter. Don't you sometimes wish you could give out tickets to some of these terrible drivers?

  7. Glad you weren't hit. When I had a motorcycle here for about a year I would assume the worst possible outcome for any situation and try to anticipate/prepare for it. It just became too stressful so I ended up selling it. At least the bike paths have some protection.

  8. Don't know about the Laredo consulate. Laredo for me is easy. Best day to travel is normally Monday for some reason seems to be least truck traffic. As far as the town there are lots of hotels, lots of restaurants, a a few malls. Last trip left Chapala at 5:30 am and was at the border at 3:20PM. I do save time by using the PASE toll pass so no waiting in line at most toll booths. As to shakedowns??? Never seen or had a problem. Just stay with the flow of traffic.

  9. My experiences with the Mexican consulate in McAllen would say, no way! I have never been to Laredo's but I see so many that have. Brownsville has a co-operative and comfortable office and while they require appointments, my many experiences there have shown that if you go first thing in the morning that they will work you in.

  10. Just so you know, the Pharr crossing is closed to car traffic from 8am-4pm. Of course, there are no signs telling you this. I sat in a line of trucks for about a hour to get up to the car passage and it was closed. I was directed by signs to go around and around and ended up at the Hidalgo crossing.

  11. Brownsville is definitely the fastest drive at 10 hours 38 minutes. I checked the local news and nothing is hitting me in the face though. I wish you the very best of luck and am grateful for the old system under which we applied for residency. In country application without having to leave.

  12. This is just an fyi which may help. New Mexico currently has no cases of coronavirus nor is it exceptionally high in ordinary flu virus' cases perhaps because it is so dry there. Scroll down this site to see the map. Arizona***** only has 1 to 5. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html The Mexican Consulate is in Albuquerque, New Mexico and, perhaps by contacting them and organizing things in advance with regards to paperwork, you could do a quick fly in and out with your temporal visas in hand. https://www.consulate-info.com/consulate/14339/Mexico-in-Albuque

  13. For sure people can build up a resistance to certain things like that in their environment. You can travel to a perfectly civilized first world country and get a bad stomach from drinking the perfectly safe water simply because it might be composed of different things than the water you are used to drinking. Also, many Americans and Canadians are germ-a-phobes- they keep thing so clean and sterilized they never build up any resistance to anything. Doctors came out with warnings about this years ago- that the overuse of antibacterial soaps on a regular basis in one's home is leading to greatly

  17. Well worth leaving your comfort zone for. And, once you go there you will be amazed at how simple it is. Delightful, charming, great people, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Climb out of your rut and give it a try.

  20. I recently moved Lakeside at the beginning of February. In the short time I’ve been here I have met some wonderful animal lovers who, each in their own way, are helping homeless, hungry dogs and cats in the neighborhood. I would like to encourage more people here to consider helping the dedicated rescue groups and shelters in our area. There are many ways to volunteer, such as walking rescue dogs or spending time with adoptable kitties, being a foster mom or dad (always needed and immensely gratifying), sponsoring a dog or cat and also tax-deductible monetary donations for food, spays,

  25. Take a stool sample to a lab to find out what is in your gut. Should only take a day for them to look in the microscope and identify the crawlies. If you take any kind of parasitic before a stool test, your test will not be accurate. After everything you've read about Dr. Teresa, you still want her info, good luck.

  27. Because she's off to other diagnoses now. I wouldn't take my dog to see her because of her probmatic treatment. Ask a gringo who had to move north because of an incorrect medicine that almost killed his wife and caused them to need to be at a lower elevation, as ONE example.
