  1. I would like to moderate a panel entitled "Can we all just all enjoy our life here lakeside and forget the Arab/Israel depute, the Corona virus, senior sex (it's good if you can get it...or do it), and assisted suicide...can I help???"

  2. "since I have a list of who you are." I'll bet you do.

  3. I'm thinking we could turn it into a restaurant. We don't have enough of those around here now.

  4. It's real simple to hook up; all you do is plug in the telephone line plug that you used on the old one into the back of the new modem/router and plug the power cord into the back of the modem and into your protected (ground fault interrupter) 127 volt electric outlet.

  5. Ok, I'm risking of having hundreds of you slam at me now but this is excessive attention-seeking behavior.

  6. For those of you who are unable or don't care to contribute in a positive way and rather post nasty personal comments, don't bother responding since I have a list of who you are. Details: When I arrived in 2004, I needed a project. I decided to put on panel discussions. I had connected by email with a very nice lady Susan Freud and we teamed up to put these together. They were hosted at the Nueva Posada who let us have an area. The Nueva Posada did the set up and provided coffee and tea. Each person paid $25, which went directly to the Nueva Posada. Our panel members varied depending on the topic. I recall one Rabbi (the ethicist), A nurse (medical questions) One newspaper person (a well known lady with the Guadalajara Reporter, who died several years ago) with her fingers on the pulse of Lakeside, and one volunteer from the general Lakeside population. Panel member specialties would vary depending on the topic. I think we did 4 or 5. and they took about 3 months to set up. I recall three titles. 1) "The Arab/Israel dispute through a different set of eyes." Our guest speaker was a Lakeside Muslim lady who gave the issue from the Arab perspective. 2) "Senior Sex, use it or lose it." 3) Assisted Suicide, They shoot horses, don't they?" All of the panels were well attended and well received. You can try to figure out which had the most people attending (Well over 100. needed extra chairs, SRO) It is a two part program. The first part was the presentation by the speaker/presenter. Then an intermission for the coffee/tea break, or whatever wanted to be order from the kitchen (added cost). Then written questions to the panel members, submitted by audience members. We need to find a venue to host the talks; find panelists, get publicity and generally put it together. I found one write-up from the G.R. I can send you. I would have tried Open Circle but the time of the presentation, including the break, will far exceed the 45 minutes allowed by Open Circle. So as not to clutter this thread, and keep the snarky ones out), please PM me. I have found one write up the Guadalajara Did for us and I can send it to those who are interested. It is from 2004. Please tell me why you would like to co-moderate; your resident status; your time availability and anything else you want. I invite people to send serious suggestions for other panel discussions. All of this is subject to the "conditions" Lakeside in relation to the Corona-virus pandemic. Thanks.

  7. Yes. It is Aguagente. We have it in our student apartment in GDL. Excellent. They install, do all routine and repair service very promptly. Saves our girls having to haul garrafons up three flights of stairs. Had a local renter friend who had it, also very satisfied and had it moved to her new place. Here is their website. https://www.aguagente.com/ Recommended!

  9. Panel subjects are open. You can help by saving your crap comments. Clearly a closed mind.

  10. Yes it does. It has a slightly stronger Wi-Fi than the old modem but still not that strong. But I am not complaining, not when there was no charge for the new modem/router and the monthly charges for infinitum are so low.

  12. Just ate there; Sopa Azteca, fries, eggs and chorizo... all just fine. Excellent soup. Three menus to choose from. The sewage smell doesn't seem to travel to the pation except on odd windy days. Today is very windy, and no smell at our table.

  13. Don't see how anyone can eat there given the omnipresent sewer smell at the base of Colon/Morelos.

  17. Exactly. It is not to be dismissed or scoffed at, it's quite real and spreading quickly - awareness and precautions are the answer, not fear-mongering and panic.

  18. I recently moved Lakeside at the beginning of February. In the short time I’ve been here I have met some wonderful animal lovers who, each in their own way, are helping homeless, hungry dogs and cats in the neighborhood. I would like to encourage more people here to consider helping the dedicated rescue groups and shelters in our area. There are many ways to volunteer, such as walking rescue dogs or spending time with adoptable kitties, being a foster mom or dad (always needed and immensely gratifying), sponsoring a dog or cat and also tax-deductible monetary donations for food, spays, neuters and medical care … your help will be invaluable! Even leaving food and water out in place for dogs and cats is a good start. If you have been thinking about how to help but weren’t sure where to begin, here is a list of some of the Lakeside rescue groups and shelters along with their contact information. I hope this will be helpful as a starting point for you. Thank you for your consideration! “Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal." 19. Since it is over 1,000 miles from Nogales to Lakeside most people spend 2 nights on the road. A good first stop is Navajoa at the Best Western or another hotel there, then another night in Mazatlan, then on into Lakeside the third day. If stopping in Navajoa is too soon for you (7+ hours after getting done at the border), then Los Mochis is about 10 hours down.... but then it is 11 hours on to Lakeside and some folks don’t like to travel that long in Mexico 2 days in a row. Due to toll booths and fueling, a good average miles-in-an-hour figure is about 55 miles if driving 70-ish. YMMV

  21. From my research, if you get it, you are pretty well on your own in Mexico. Even the CDC says on its site, that if you are diagnosed with Coronavirus, home isolation is best since hospitals are overloaded and they can only treat symptoms. If you get to the point where you are having problems breathing, then supplemental oxygen is needed, but it's still not a cure. I may not have remembered point-on with the above, but below is where you can read it directly. I'm choosing limited isolation for now, so sorry to some, I'll still be here. I would hate to deprive some members of their opportunity to post non-relevant, nasty comments. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/guidance-home-care.html
