  4. Pot. Kettle. Black. For the past 20 years, until my retirement 10 years ago, my stated occupation on my Canadian income tax forms was "professional artist and mason" A professional artist is someone who has fine artist skills, but chooses to sell those skills to the highest bidder. That is all that I am recommending here. Simple. I have worked alongside with some of the best fine artists in the world, a very tough game to get recognition. On wood working, I owned a golf tee factory, into which investors poured in enough to purchase five automatic hollow chuck lathes, a chain driven circular saw, dust collection, two heavy duty router tables, automatic pad printer. The wood we used was B.C. interior Birch which was inexpensive because it was often gray water stained. In short, I have been through truck loads of birch, yellow cedar, maple and alder. All that time you were running around to flea markets, as some sort of grifter, trying to hoodwink people into thinking these extremely ugly articles were actually highly valuable works of art. I always remember when you asked if I could connect you with a famous architect. You sent a picture of all these firewood logs dressed up in old clothes. You claimed he was a famous folk artist, yet when he died, there was not a single word about this in his lengthy obituary. Out of my ken, really? I double dog dare you to send in a picture of the firewood people which I believe you wanted $20,000 cdn for.

  8. This month my time seems to have been preoccupied with attending Memorials or farewell parties for friends returning to both the US and Canada for health reasons. Sadly my circle of friends and acquaintance's is shrinking by the month and instead of inviting friends to the movies or other events the days are now visiting the various nursing homes in the area Interestingly at one of the farewell parties I inquired of a lady where was her husband......oh he died in November......sorry to hear that, I did not see his name in the obituaries ... we don't do that any more , we are concerned about letting others know we are alone in the house...really, how sad how very sad to think or perceive that there are such predators in this area I wonder how many other Lost Generation folks are experiencing the same situation

  9. Also referred to as the G. I. Generation In Strauss & Howe's book, "The Fourth Turning" that generation was born between 1901-1924. The Lost Generation between 1883 and 1900. The Silents from 1925-1942 Boomers from 1943-1960 Take your pick since generation theory is still just that, theory.

  10. I am posting this for someone else.. please contact that person, not me as the Op.. If you are able and willing to help, please do so.. otherwise please keep your personal opinions about the situation to yourself.. I do not know about the person's personal circumstances, nor do you , as they are personal to this person. I write this note as this happens may times when a person asks for assistance, and mainly gets criticized, etc. rather than helpful ideas or suggestions.. I know most people are thoughful and kind hearted about another person's personal private circumstances, others not so much. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi folks, Last year a handsome, personality plus cat adopted me. He tried my neighbor first, and that didn't work out as she has a ton of cats and dogs. It didn't take long for this smart cat to figure out I was a soft touch. Unfortunately , I have an old cat who wants nothing to do with him, my place is on the market, and I cannot take him with me when I leave in six weeks or so. I have two options--find him a home or put him down. Really, I don't want to do the latter. His name is Boomerang (because he kept coming back to my door with this eager look on his face). He answers to Boom or Boomer. He is feline lukemia free, sterilized, and has had shots with paper health certificate from his vet. He's a bright and playful boy, affectionate, he understands no, out, foodsie, rolly over, no bite, and how to open a sliding screen door. He is litter box trained, but is happy to pee and poop outside. He will sleep outside in a protected area with plenty of water if he has to and keep your property free of mice. He wants human affection, is talkative, and seems to really like women. He comes with a month's supply of dry food and his own cat carrier. His temporary human can be reached at slickrock39 at yahoo.com

  12. The reason is all employees for the Seguro Popular are state employees hired by each state's "Servicios de Salud" and CDMX same thing. Only at each state's capital city is a federal Secretaria de Salud administration office were they have all the top federal administrators for doling out the states Seguro Popular financing, build Secretaria de Salud hospitals and clinics, furnish, hire personel, buy vehicles, have offices and labs. for disease control, sanitation, diistribute medicines and health care products and maintain them all etc. which are federal employees. With INSABI there are no more state "Servicios de Salud". There will be only federal employees instead. They will fire all the state employees and hire federal employees. Previously the states' employees serviced the medical needs of it's states residents that belonged to the Seguro Popular in clinics and hospitals owned or hospitals contracted by the federal Secretaria de Salud.

  14. Let me begin by saying "I don't like crepes"....but I love this restaurant. Every day they have a special country French dish that is delicious. So far I have had coq au vin, cassoulet, beef stew and steak with roquefort sauce. These special dishes come with a drink and I always choose wine. The cost is between 160 and 220 pesos depending on the dish. The restaurant is nicely appointed, very clean and bright with reasonably comfortable chairs. They serve wine and beer, but I don't think they have hard liquor. They are open for lunch and dinner during the week and breakfast on weekends.....closed Wednesdays. They are located on the Carreterra in West Ajijic in the La Huerta shopping mall. For more info call 376 109-1404. PS: there is plenty of parking.

  19. It is clear to me that the OP is an artist creating originals and is not interested in mass produce engineered commercial things and your link is for beginners which apparently the OP IS not. No your wood burning kit does not count nor what you may have done with it as I also did as a cub scout. I suggest that you attempt to make posts about something that you have knowledge of and this thread is clearly beyond your ken. Maybe I should have said pyrographic original art instead of just pyrography Don't insult the OP by suggesting that they need to learn from your beginner site. From a sample of their work that they posted they ain't no beginner and they don't need to step up as you put it.

  20. HURT??? A sorry attempt. In fact, most reasonably smart people know the difference between propaganda and fact. The "placebo effect" is real, as is the gullibility of some people who want to be "special" by believing themselves sensitive to some substances. The "gluten free" diet fad promulgated in recent years is a prime example. On the other hand...for others, the negative effects of some substances is very real. Allergies exist. All human bodies are not made the same.

  22. Well we are involved now with some others in trying to save our maid's husband from cancer and it does appear there is some truth along with some politics in these articles. It is definitely not a smooth transition and there does appear to be some heretofore charging for services that used to be free to SP patients. As I noted previously there's a number of states that are refusing to accept the change without further negotiation. SP will not cover the radiation treatment he needs but several private hospitals have arrangements with them that result in reduced charges, which is some help. As of this moment they are still honoring those arrangements. We are headed into GDL today to make the required payment to get things started. As with all drastic changes, this one is going to take some time to shake itself out. On edit there's an article in today's Informador that indicates 19 states have not signed on.

  24. This situation has been discussed here many times. You have NO problems with your TIP and leaving your vehicle in Mexico if you fly out, giving up your Tourist Card, flying back in later getting a new Tourist card. No fines, no loss of deposit, no fees and no drama. You must within 180 days of the first TIP on the motorcycle remove it from Mexico BUT that is the only stipulation you have to worry about. Be sure when you cross the border with the motorcycle (within the 180 days) that you turn in/cancel the TIP at the border. Otherwise you will never be able to bring another vehicle into Mexico as they will 'think' that you already have one.... and one cannot have more than one TIP/vehicle in Mexico at a time. Keep the receipt that they give you when you turn it in 'forever'. Also turn in/cancel your Tourist Card at the same time at the same place. Then, if you wish to come back into Mexico with the Motorcycle you will need to get another TIP and Tourist Card. I would not do a "1-minute turnaround" doing this (turn in, get another)... wait at least a shift change or the next day. There actually is no law that says you can't come right back in but some border agents might think there is and may give you a hard time.

  27. Elisabeth- Carla from the Legion here- Don't delay, contact Ron from Go Solar ASAP. We have a small house and no pool, but a simple and not very costly solar installation by STI is saving us an average of $3,000/mo. Other companies wanted to install twice the equipment at twice the cost, taking twice as long to recoup our installation costs! Ron is great to deal with, extremely knowledgeable, his crew was the best. Look at solar hot water, too. We love ours and again, the savings in gas start immediately and are substantial.

  30. Then your family and friends need to find better therapists, ones who do not illegally prescribe drugs. The three times in my life I was prescribed antidepressants it was by my personal physicians at the time. Without the antidepressants I would not still be here. Also, one year was the longest I was ever on them. No one was trying to keep me on them. I do know people who must take them long term, not because their doctors are pill pushers but because their brain chemistry does not work right. Do you tell diabetics they don’t need insulin because it is just big pharma masking symptoms like diabetic coma?
