  1. How about you start a NEW topic about a great old dog needing a new home rather than tacking it on to a post abut cats?

  2. The article is dated 2017 - it would seem that perhaps not much has happened in the meantime?

  4. Finally got around to paying the Fine. Tom gates was right, City Hall on the left inside. Do not know what the original fine was, however after much calculations between 2 cashiers I paid $124mxn, I' m guessing it might have been a lot less if I had gone in sooner as they appeared to be counting days since the I was ticketed? And I did not get another ticket!

  5. It is just up from the garden centre and before all those other businesses mentioned. Bit hard to spot. because it's sort of downhill but it has a 3-4 foot donut in front. Saw it yesterday.

  7. Well I also vote for Cocinart's very competent and well priced burger with a second to Bruno's very excellent one. If recollection serves me it is 140 pesos and cooked over hickory like the steak. Just took our midwestern visitors to Bruno's for a Beisbol Fillet, they absolutely loved it, said it was the best steak they've ever had. Their beef is Sonoran. As for local prices, we've found GDL to be a lot higher. Tapatios are probably adding to the cost push in restaurants here. We were in Tampa this summer and frankly found a number of decent dining options that were little or no more expensive than what it has become here. 12 years ago it was much cheaper to eat out here than NOB. My take on this is the basic problem here is most restaurants simply don't have enough tables to generate the revenue needed to pay the rising rents and costs of food and help. I suspect in the future we'll see fewer mom and pops and more places like Tango or the bigger places in Chapala.

  9. I quite understand, where you come from will influence your taste for many things including hamburgers. People from Canada and Northern United States have different tastes for many foods than people from southern United States like me. Ian Greenwood is correct it starts with the beef. When you put pineapple, mushrooms, sauces, etc on the meat you have altered the real taste of a hamburger. I ate at the Food Container Restaurant two weeks ago. Several people had said on this forum they had great hamburgers. The menu showed, I believe 7 different topping hamburgers. I really wanted to taste a real hamburger so I ordered a simple grilled one. I didn't even eat half of it. The waiter asked if there was something wrong with the hamburger and I said yes. The meat is no good. He asked why and I told him. If I had eaten one of the topped up hamburgers I might have thought it was good since the patty was of a good size. This being said, what makes a great hamburger will as Xenia said be in the eyes of the beholder. I have probably sold more hamburgers than anyone on this forum and we only used salt, pepper and a good grade of beef.

  10. My only point was that I have never been able to use it the phone app. As well as others, apparently. And that referenced link is to their Website. It is not an "app" (app, for those who don't know, is an abbreviation of application, which is what we used to call programs).

  11. That would be a question to ask the brothers who own the store. Both speak English. They are on FB or their contact info can be found by using Google.

  12. Great burgers (like bad attitudes) are in the eye of the beholder. However, you once again missed the point of a post — this time the OP’s. He never said anything about “great burgers,” just as HappyJ said nothing about his being the perfect burger. The OP was commenting on a new restaurant in West Ajijic and their innovative burgers and macaroni and cheese. You offered the industry standard for high end U.S. burgers as though imparting a useful piece of information.

  13. Google Implants to learn about the different manufacturers..And then ask the dentist which brand he uses... Dr Haro uses Straumann implants which are considered to best available, but they are very expensive. Dentists give you a better price by using Chinese or Korean made implants..

  14. In your haste to be disagreeable you misquoted HappyJ. He never said he was describing “the perfect burger.” He said, “I can't even remember the last time I had a burger around here other than on my Weber” and went on to describe how he makes his burgers, the way he likes them. But, of course, the only “real” burger must be made the way you make it whether other people enjoy it that way or not.

  15. Unhappy Jillian ...your description of the perfect burger bares little or no resemblance to the the real thing ....woodysy cooking sauce....?....Hys seasoning salt ...Lawrys seasoning junk...Kirklands powdered chemical garlic ,sounds like some kind of well done Salisbury steak ...all it’s missing is “ mushroom gravy “ The “ real deal “ all American hamburger is somewhat near an 80 / 20 mix of various secondary cuts but great tasting quality beef ...it’s all about the beef....never less than an inch thick ..only seasoning on the exterior.... so it doesn’t dry out the meat ( fact ) .. seared ..but most of all... never ...ever cook it past medium. .even that’s a push . Anything else fast food junk ., . Cocinart does a good job for about 100 pesos , When it comes to beef etc. we should probably be listening to rafter , most food knowledge does not come from books...it’s called ..experience !

  17. Short answer is 'yes'... Longer: Up when approaching Villa Arriaga one used to 'turn right' and take a 2-lane cuota over to the south side of SLP hitting highway 57 and then the east bypass 57D of said. Now, just keep going straight there (Villa....) and that takes one to the 'new' western bypass of SLP connecting on the north side of SLP with 57 to Matehaula/Saltillo.

  18. Mexican places here don't exhibit this kind of behaviour. It is almost entirely a response by places that are either patronized or owned by expats. Exacerbating the issue is that we have so many newcomers who think a 200p hamburger is a damn good price compared to "back home", the concept of local economics is lost on them. So it continues.

  19. Sorry you had trouble reaching Spring Clean. You can usually get Leticia on her cell if she is out buying supplies or checking on her workers. She was just at my house last week checking to make sure everything was satisfactory. She is not always in the office.

  20. Whoops. Was just posted on Facebook. Wonder what happened? Badly needed, that is for sure. Flying really sucks these days, these airlines know they can abuse you with few limits since there is no other way to travel long distances.

  21. Xenia...firstly Toms original post was “ great burgers “ , secondly I don’t cook burgers , I was explaining what the industry standards are for the preparation of a high end $ 10 - $ 15 burger in the U .S . There is no great haste on my part to be disagreeable...I have only 118 posts in the last few years , not 4000 like yourself...that’s haste . I tend to limit my posts to subjects I have an actual knowledge of . Do l have an “ attitude “ ....obviously .

  22. If the poster who innocently asked for directions ever finds Vickys, he might want to check out Pollos David, commonly referred to as "dusty chicken" because of its open-air locations. I've enjoyed their take out meals with the chicken, corn tortillas, rice, guacamole and potatoes at a reasonable price.

  23. I call BS on this big time. I have known my friend Juan for over 10 years and he is available all the time day or night early or late. He goes above and beyond when I am hospitalized, takes our guests on tours, etc. He didn't get his license as per your sleazy innuendo. He is forced to change his car by regulation[3 years?] among all the other gov't costs and forced to have an accountant plus of course all sorts of gov't fees. The new forced decore on his taxi and all the other taxis around here Must go to ONE supplier only.
