  1. I will be more polite than you ( and less emotional ) are and simply agree to strongly disagree. Good that you are loyal to your hard working friend. I am happy that there are customers for both services, and wanted to point out that, as always, there is also ...another side. All the best Rony

  2. If anyone can not figure out the location after these posts they probably should not be driving — or leaving their house. Come on, people! You want a map and a picture before venturing out to buy some donuts? This is not clear enough? “Libramiento 103-A across from the Laguna Centro Mall near Walmart.” “We are at 103-A on the libramiento. About 1 block from Walmart. We are before you reach the Oxxo and on the opposite side of the road.” “...it's just befrore the "dusty chicken" place.” As for Pappys comment about the Oxxo marker. Just how many Oxxo’s do you think there are on the libramiento?

  3. I'm here to talk burgers, not cows and other bulls___. I make my own burgers most often, and usually much tastier than any restaurant or fast-food chain. I disagree with TV chefs who tell me to only add a pinch of salt and pepper. (And they tend to use super expensive cuts of meat, which may get them $25 bucks at their restaurants, but you won't see me there, because cheap ground is what it's all about). However, there is nothing wrong with grabbing a decent burger from a fast-food joint when the urge or the smell hits me. My problem here is that Trip's doesn't do anything to satisfy that urge. There's a cenaduria in SAT that does satisfy that desire, and their burgers, while not great, are better than Trip's and they only cost 25p.

  4. What a weird obsession for some. Over and over and over and over.etc.

  5. I agree Tripp's has a mediocre hamburger which is vastly over priced. Just because the meat says it is angus does not mean it is pure angus. There are at least 5 breeds of cattle which are black and their meat is often passed off as angus. They are even selling meat in the states now marked Hereford. This is just a ploy to try and get some of the action from the angus label.. The hereford is a red cow with a white face which was very much in disfavor by the ranchers and feed lots due to its low disease resistance and does not do well in cold climates where most of the feed lots are.

  6. It would be wonderful to find the dog a new home here, but the dog always has a home at the Ranch.

  8. Looks like we've run out of things to post about the topic and have ended up posting about each other. Closed. P.S. We know who he is and he knows now how not to get kicked off here. Happy ending.

  9. Yes, that may sometimes be true. However, in this case we are talking about a location with one Oxxo, the sole Walmart, and well-known Centro Laguna Mall. It used to be, you got the information given to you, pictured the landmarks you knew, and then went there to fill in the blanks. As time went on there were fewer blanks to be filled in because you were learning your way around. Now they want a picture and a map before venturing out of the house. I realize I sound like the cranky, old woman I have become but dammit, it is not without reason. 😖

  11. I use Uber here in Guadalajara. I always have one within 5 minutes, and unlike a lot of regular taxis here: no discussion on prices ( the right price appears on my cell phone ), or claiming that the taximeters dont work, and they use the fastest route..... ( I am tired of all that ). Lots of advantages, and I tip. Taxi licences are often only handed out to those who know the right people ( so you can guess where the money ends up ..... ) and they like to work banking hours only. I only use a regular taxi when I am at Lakeside because I have a good friend/taxi driver there ( that is how I know about the "taxi licence game" ....I am being polite here ). I am a Uber fan. Support the hard working Uber driver, when you can. They often also have a family. Rony

  13. I had an account with HSBC, requiring 1000 pesos so a monthly fee would not be charged. I kept a little over 1000 pesos for avoid a monthly charge. As time went by and I didn't use the account for a while, I checked on line and they had raised the minimum amount to be in the account without charging a monthly fee to 4000 pesos. No notice. No email. No phone call. No nothing. When I went down to the bank to see why they had been tapping my account for several months 170 pesos a month, that is when they told me they had raised the minimum amount to 4000 pesos to avoid a monthly fee. I immediately closed the pittance amount that was remaining in the account and opened an account with Multiva. They have several officers, all speak English, you can make and appointment, bring your necessary documents and I opened an account, eazy peezy. So much easier to deal with and they have 2 tellers on duty and there are no lines and you can talk to someone who comprehends. If your interested make an appointment with Monica. She knows what she is doing and fluent in English.

  14. I believe Ilox is already installed in your area. If so, you may be able to get it installed fairly quickly if you only choose the internet and phone package, not the TV package. Their office is across from the soccer field in the El Torito plaza, next to Ismat's new chicken restaurant. Definitely worth a trip to stop in and speak with Gustavo. Good luck!

  15. Because options are limited and speeds vary block-by-block, I would suggest asking my closest neighbors first. Answers here may not apply to your specific location unless you luck out and one of your neighbors is on this board and replies.

  16. If the poster who innocently asked for directions ever finds Vickys, he might want to check out Pollos David, commonly referred to as "dusty chicken" because of its open-air locations. I've enjoyed their take out meals with the chicken, corn tortillas, rice, guacamole and potatoes at a reasonable price.

  19. She is the dog I thought. Ginger had come to me with the info she needed another dog, it had to be female and older. I checked out what we had at the ranch and found the perfect girl for Ginger. She loved that dog and was very happy with her. The only complaint she had in the beginning was the dog did not bark, LOL. She is a nice dog and if I could I would take her in here. I am hoping that the old girl does not have to go up to the cold ranch at this stage of her life. Please, someone, are you able to adopt her and give her some good years in your home?

  20. How now BROWN cow with a bit of white? I am the foremost breed of beef cattle in Canada and here i am near Pincher Creek Alberta where it sometimes reaches -40f or -30c[same thing] or lower. Alberta produces 59.6% of the cattle in Canada. Thanks for telling me it's too cold here and my rancher is raising us prone to diseased useless steers. I really like to be sent to the feed lot because it's way warmer when a bunch of us are in close quarters producing all that methane.

  23. Across the Libramiento from the ONLY BP, formerly Pemex gasolinera on the LIBRAMIENTO. Not every driver uses an OXXO, but they do use gasolineras. The chicken place is Pollos David and you can´t use a business that has ripped someone off, as a landmark.

  26. The only time there are Uber cars available is when they bring someone from the the airport or Guadalajara. When they are available thay are not much less than a local taxi. So please support our local taxis. They are here when we need them.

  27. Use the local cabs. They have to pay a ton of pesos for the "privilege" of being a cabby to support their local families and Uber drivers pay zilch. That's what we do. Let your conscience be your guide.

  28. I have lived for over 13 years in lower SAT about 3 blocks from Adelitas. I have seen this place grow from a small hole in the wall sandwich/coffee shop to the first class, large classy establishment that it is now. About 10 years ago the mother of Jason, the current owner/operator, bought the place and I saw the gradual improvements through the subsequent years and about 4 years ago, a major 3 - 4 month renovation and enlargement including the large covered patio area in the back. Jason, being a musician himself improved the entertainment to the point that now the music is considered among the very best Lakeside with a mix of Latin and my favorite, Old Time Rock n' Roll from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Someone stated wrongly here that there is music nightly...not so...only on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights. Someone else stated wrongly that the customers are mostly expats and not Mexican. Also wrong. The Tapatios and Mexican locals have discovered the great food and entertainment and there is usually a great mix of folks there. I used to hear the music somewhat at my house depending on how the wind was blowing, but now not. Recently, enjoying the music there I ran into Jason's mother and mentioned that I was not hearing it at my house anymore. She pointed to a digital meter devise on the wall facing the musicians and it was reading between 80 and 90. She told me that the bandleaders were instructed to keep it below 100 since it was hooked up to some type of decibel meter outside and anything under 100 on the wall meter inside was legal. I know nothing about the Evento but Alelitas has been nothing but a very good restaurant and music/dance club and a very positive attraction to our wonderful little pueblo.

  29. Don't know where you live or what are your food preferences. If you like Mexican food, ask your Mexican neighbors where is the nearest Cenaduria. These are private homes that each day (some only on weekends) have meals ready to serve or go. Found one recently only a block from my house and is like having a Mexican grandmother around the corner with her best family recipes cooking daily on the stove. Prices about half of restaurants. How can you go wrong?

  31. Mexican places here don't exhibit this kind of behaviour. It is almost entirely a response by places that are either patronized or owned by expats. Exacerbating the issue is that we have so many newcomers who think a 200p hamburger is a damn good price compared to "back home", the concept of local economics is lost on them. So it continues.

  33. "The emperor had no clothes" saying comes to mind when I here people in this area wax poetic about nonsense like this. And you are absolutely correct,REAL burgers need lots of fat as found in the cheapest ground beef.

  37. I call BS on this big time. I have known my friend Juan for over 10 years and he is available all the time day or night early or late. He goes above and beyond when I am hospitalized, takes our guests on tours, etc. He didn't get his license as per your sleazy innuendo. He is forced to change his car by regulation[3 years?] among all the other gov't costs and forced to have an accountant plus of course all sorts of gov't fees. The new forced decore on his taxi and all the other taxis around here Must go to ONE supplier only.
