  1. Of course I noticed. What I said still stands: take enough cash to give a tip to your bagger. How hard is it to stick 10-20 pesos in your pocket AND take your credit card?

  2. THe kids who bag not only are not skipping school but many businesses give the jobs to the kids who have good grades.

  3. Stroke protocol. IV Glucose drip and oxygen within the first 3 hours and no more cells are lost and even Cruz Roja knows this procedure without having a Cardio on staff and a platoon of emerge personnel like the SAT Hospital. I can say this based on experience but since I have not had a heart attack I can't address that but I would suspect that the protocols are in place. None of you nay sayers are medical professionals and I suggest that you keep your ill informed opinions to yourselves as they benefit no one.

  5. Pardon me, but when children and elderly people are working for tips, they need money. They can't pay their bills with a candy bar. You like the smile you get back, but you're interpreting it to your benefit. Not necessarily so. Just this week I read a long article in La Jornada (newspaper out of Mexico City) about pensions in Mexico. The standard amount for a person retiring from lifelong work? 1200-1500 pesos a month. Tip the baggers!

  8. No one is “jumping on the bandwagon.” It was very clear from the beginning that putting your money up front was a gamble. There was much discussion about it. Some people decided it was worth the risk. Others either could not afford to prepay for a year or did not wish to gamble. Those people said they’d see how it worked out. Some people have seen enough to sign up and pay install and monthly fees. It is not their fault they are getting hooked up before you. I never believed the story that all prepays would be hooked up first. It did not make sense that the company would hopscotch around lakeside and then fill in. What I thought would happen did happen. It is working out the way things work out in Mexico.

  9. This reminds me of the aguinaldo at Christmas. It is supposed to be paid in cash, not in gifts. I heartily agree with More Liana.

  10. You're welcome. ANY insecticide that contains all/part of the word permethrin (permetrina), cypermethrin, etc. is very toxic to cats, fish, and BEES. So be careful when and where you spray as the world is losing bees at an alarming rate.

  11. Moderators, is there a way to keep old posts for informational purposes but lock them from further commenting and being dragged to the forefront. Most of them contain outdated or inaccurate information. As you know businesses and services can be very fluid here particularly in the off season. Surely your technical person can write a code to do it automatically. I know it can be done.

  12. Dear Liana, Did you notice the line where I said: "Sometimes I go in the store with just my credit card."? When I carry cash, I give cash. When I don't, I give candy. You are pardoned. Best wishes, Henry Laxen

  13. At this point in time the only remedy is to lock or delete as they appear. Agree it is a nuisance. It is very easy to start new threads. Folks, please do not drag up old threads whose topics may only be peripherally germane and whose information is definitely dated.

  15. I didn't find any sites that weren't "official" sites or a couple of paid-ad type sites. I think I'd take a deep breath and wait a few months to see how well the phone actually works for real people. Remember all the hype around the Samsung Galaxy model that turned out to have all sorts of problems? Take your misbehaving phone over to the Computer shop in the Riberas strip mall. He is really good with smart phones.

  20. Thanks. Some people don't feel they should pay for what they receive. Why can't the "government" just print some more money so I don't have to chip in? Does "Clueless" fit this situation?

  21. I guess that is one way of looking at it.... a conspiracy that our government is deploying so that we can never get ahead. Poor us. SS payments increases if/as the cost of living index increases. Period. It's the law. Part B insurance may or may not increase annually due to costs of that program... each of us paying our fair share of the increase. Period. No conspiracy. That increase CANNOT be more than the increase in COLA for any given year. The law. Our government looking out for us IMO. Let the wring of hands continue....

  22. IF someone finds an old thread which they wish to find more about, may I suggest that they put the link to the old thread in their NEW thread. In that way, people have the choice of reading the old thread but recognize that the info is old but a new question has been asked regarding it. edited to add: It is easy to put a link into a thread. Put your cursor over the http address at the top of the page. Left click and it will turn blue. Then right click and choose "copy". Start your new thread and put your cursor where you want the link to go. Then, right click and choose "paste"

  23. Active ingredient in Cynoff is cypermethrin..... HIGHLY toxic to cats. Does not affect dogs.

  24. Go to a garden center and pickup a packet of Cynoff. Mix the powder with 3 litres of water and spray around doors, windows and other areas where a scorpion might gain entrance. Once dry the solution is harmless to pets. Scorpions will still get in (they are a robust creature, but they will be weakened considerably). And what jh5127 said above.

  25. How about "signs" now being referred to as "signage". Lots of baby talk, too. I wore sweatshirts with hoods when I was a teenager. They were called hooded sweatshirts, now they're "hoodies". My babies wore sleepers. Now they're "onesies". A photograph you took of yourself was called a self-portrait, now it's a "selfie". Adults talking like 4 year olds.

  27. When we went to him several years ago, Dr Eric was not comfortable speaking English. I don't know if that has changed. I would recommend DanVet 376 765 7060 in Soriana Plaza.

  30. Here is a helpful hint: Sometimes I go in the store with just my credit card. In order to tip the bagger, I buy a Snickers or Milky Way and give it to them when the are done. I always get a nice smile in return.

  31. I always tip the baggers, even if I have my own shopping bags, which I prefer to bag myself, as they usually don't bag the way I prefer. I can sometimes see them look disappointed when I say it's okay, I like it done a certain way and will do it myself, but then they are happy and relieved when I tip them anyway. I also like to make conversation with the old folks, and they seem to like it as well. I've occasionally asked them how old they are, and when I say I hope I look that good when I'm 80, I can tell that it made their day.

  32. It is the same at other stores' checkouts, such as Soriana, etc. Please do tip the baggers, be they seniors or children, who are also helping to support their family in their off-school hours. With a split school day, you may see children helping at any time of the day. They are not skipping school.

  34. I moved from Los Salvias to the south east corner of San Antonio. They are just starting to do installs as I know two people who were installed in this part of town in the last few days. They are suppose to be at my house at noon. Wish me luck. FYI if you move take your modem with you and go to the office to arrange for install. It was painless and the fellow was very nice and helpful.

  35. Both myself and my wife went through this procedure and what we paid might well be way more or way less than you will pay. Good for you that you got 2 people to tell you how much they paid. Are your eyes the same as theirs, do you want single, double or triple lenses? Are your eyes even a good candidate for the surgery? If saving up for the procedure is that important you should see the Dr. ASAP to get the true cost for your eyes and perhaps even be able to work out a payment plan or at least get on the waiting list for the surgery. Good luck, if you truly need it you will be amazed at the difference.
