  1. I found this subject interesting so I went to the plaza in Jocotepec and asked if anyone knew of rentals....there are no rental agencies here.....everything is done or most everything is done by word of mouth. I have pictures of two houses and info on a third. One with 4 bedrooms, large walled yard, 4 banos.....8500 mxp. A second one with a large pool and large yard, US style kitchen....5 bedrooms with 4 full baths....$800 usd....the 4th is a former government owned house that has been declared surplus and now for rent. I am told that english is spoken. None are furnished. PM me if you want to make contact.

  2. Quoting Senoir D, "You may love it or you may not but they deserve a chance to serve you , give them a shot . Remember , if you don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong , just not necessarily for you." Quoting Computer Guy, "lectures me on how I should think about it, and how I should give them a chance, and how everyone is different. In my mid-60s now, I think I've figured that part of life out" Sounds like to me Computer Guy you may have it all figured out in your mid 60's but might want to re-read what Senoir D wrote in his comment. I do not see where he LECTURED anyone. Just gave a nice write up about a place he ate today and wanted to let people know his thoughts and impression, PERIOD. Might you be having a bad day, can't read, comprehend or what? You should apologize for your rude remarks.

  3. You are replying to a 2 year old post. If they needed it and didn't get it, they're probably dead by now.

  5. There is something in the air: All sense of humor has been wafted away, leaving ignorance and illiteracy behind. It is either that or cheap tequila. A third option is too much coffee, leaving an uptight, jittery drunk at the keyboard. Is "lighten up" a racist comment? When will it all end?

  8. People like you are the reason I resist posting here. You completely missed the jest of the post . No one was telling you how to do anything just trying to help some deserving kid's out .Glad you think you have it all figured out , such a gift.

  9. Best tuna we've had in Mexico! And we try it everywhere, at least once. Excellent service, clean outdoor seating (under a great shade tree). Owner visited every table. Menu is mariscos. Tacos and tostadas with upscale twists, some Asian influences (the spicy sesame salsa is incredible). Various ceviches and aguachiles. Nice offerings of various bottled salsas and bowls of pickled onions, pico de gallo and cole slaw. The tostadas are square and hearty....I am guessing they are homemade or from an artisanal source. We had: Tuna sashimi tostada 55p. The tuna was in an Asian sauce with some avocado, onion and nori on top. The sesame/chili salsa served on the side is memorable. Pulpo tostada 52p. Only slight miss of the meal...the pulpo was just a tad chewy (but we have had far worse around town) Tuna arrachera taco 70p. A very healthy portion of ever-so-slightly seared tuna (what we'd call 'torched' in the US). Melt-in-your-mouth tender. Deep fried battered avocado taco 27p Nice clean fry on the battered avocado. Benefits greatly by adding the aforementioned fixins. Limon Carlota 40p Frozen tangy limon dessert layered with thin cookie crusts. House wine is 50p and agua mineral is 25p. Our lunch tab was 319p. I wish I'd had my phone to show the pretty platings and the full menu. Next time! You can go to their FB page for pictures taken by other guests. Lobo de Mar is on Javier Mina in Ajijic, just south of the carretera. All seating is outdoors, maybe 10 tables?? Open Tues thru Sun 12 to 6pm.

  10. My wife was listed as " Maria del Rosario" on many agencies in Mexico. She got a Notary to draw a paper and list maybe 8 different names she had been called by those different agencies and it said that they were all "Maria Rosario". We took that paper (time consuming) to each agency and they changed her name on their forms, and combined some, as they sometimes had 3 accounts for her with different names. Cost was 500 pesos for 3 official papers. She has a different name on her US passport than her Mexican passport, but never a problem in the US or Mexico.

  11. What the heck does this have to do with the description of ribeye in the 60's and what it is now? One troll on here is enough no?

  12. You will never get an MRI in Ajijic in your lifetime. There is the new Hospital San Antonio in San Antonio Tlyacapan Which has CAT.,MRI and Fluoroscopy. I am not sure if the first 2 are completed yet. And paulrobinson there is NO CAT scan in Chapala. There are a plethora of threads on here about that hospital.

  14. Now that’s what I call a restaurant review....positive..informative..menu....prices...opening hours . Now we can all stop by or not and make up our own minds whether we like it or not . No fuss...no muss .

  15. I think it's "lighten up" time. I'll bet nearly all of us were taken aback a bit at the "coop" title. There's just a few smarties on here who couldn't resist teasing you. I'm sure they meant no harm. 🖖

  18. I make a single good point, so those who disagree are now saying I've "got it all figured out". As if that kind of statement is going to detract the rest of us from what's going on. You really do think we are stupid, don't you? Stupid and unknowing. We have been lectured to dozens of times on this board about "giving them a chance"; that says to me you assuming that as a group, we wouldn't. And I do mean lectured. Telling me that we "are all different" is kindergarten-level, patronizing advice. There was no jest in your post, Senoir. (Except maybe in the spelling of your online identity. And do reread what I wrote: I said it was nothing personal. But you took it that way anyway, because now that you've decided to participate, that was your gut reaction. Oh, what pleasure it must have given you to type "People like you" after all this time.

  19. I don't know you, Senoir D, but I am assuming you're a stand up guy, so don't take this the wrong way: It really chaps my butt when someone on this board reviews a place and then lectures me on how I should think about it, and how I should give them a chance, and how everyone is different. In my mid-60s now, I think I've figured that part of life out, as have we all. Give me advice on where to get my car fixed, what day I should buy airline tickets, or how to make chicken broth. Do not tell me how to think. As far as restaurants go, we all will make up our own minds regardless of any pontificating anyway.

  20. Although the U S D A does its best to regulate the primal cuts , along with a great deal of help from the major meat packers it can still be a little confusing as many “ cut “ names are somewhat regional . When I order a full rib eye I have to stipulate which numerical I want...there are 12 slightly different cuts ....lip on ,lip off , fullcap , bone in and so forth .The main problem with the “ cap “ or deckle steak as we used to call it , is that you basically have to ruin the rib eye to cut it correctly . So the cost can be prohibitive and you are left with a sub - standard ribeye or “ jillins “ original posted comment .

  21. Wow. Such angst concerning agents. First of all, a rental agency takes a monthly fee, so they are invested. I guess there are no "smart ones", because I know a bunch of 'em and they don't go chasing renters. And rental prices are just beginning to go down, as the whole real-estate market is slowing down.

  24. Not only that,if you go west of the bus station in Chapala, you're going up a very steep hill where to my knowledge there wouldn't be a furniture warehouse.

  25. None of those streets exist in or near the bus station in Chapala. What Chapala bus station are you referring?

  26. You can find just about anything you want stylewise, it is a question of knowing where to look. SO take it slowly until you know what you want and once you decide on the style ask for the places where to look.. Yes the bazaars are places to look at but they are no bargain here compare to Europe or the States.

  27. Yes, that is the same meaning, and the same god, if any were to exist. But, at that time, and in that place, it was Allah. The Catholic conversion just changed the name to God; Dios, Dieu, Zeus, Ra, etc......Take your pick. It still translates to maybe, sometime, perhaps, or not, depending upon whatever.....

  28. Ihave a name in the US ,a name in France and a name in Mexico , you do not need to change anything. In Mexico I used my Mexican passport and in France my French passport. On my bank card from the US I signed my married name on the other cards my maiden name.. I had a notario in Mexico draw a paper listing all the names I use and certifying that they all represent me.. and that is t..

  30. "AMLO deletes social programs from Calderón and Peña Experts say the change was necessary, but the diagnosis was wrong; he only seeks to put his stamp There is no "clear strategy" in the changes to social programs and their impact on the shortcomings of the population that requires it most, experts say. UNIVERSAL FILE" https://www.google.com.mx/amp/s/amp.eluniversal.com.mx/amp/note/amp/eluniversal/1564335 I've seen the same thing lately. For rent signs in the previous federal government funded social program locations - I can see on their window or on the building the government logo of the federal agency sponsoring them - and some had a lot of activity. Now they are gone.
