  1. People like you are the reason I resist posting here. You completely missed the jest of the post . No one was telling you how to do anything just trying to help some deserving kid's out .Glad you think you have it all figured out , such a gift.

  2. You are correct.... is it new in a box? I would take it out of it's original box if possible and present it as used....

  3. Quoting Senoir D, "You may love it or you may not but they deserve a chance to serve you , give them a shot . Remember , if you don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong , just not necessarily for you." Quoting Computer Guy, "lectures me on how I should think about it, and how I should give them a chance, and how everyone is different. In my mid-60s now, I think I've figured that part of life out" Sounds like to me Computer Guy you may have it all figured out in your mid 60's but might want to re-read what Senoir D wrote in his comment. I do not see where he LECTURED anyone. Just gave a nice write up about a place he ate today and wanted to let people know his thoughts and impression, PERIOD. Might you be having a bad day, can't read, comprehend or what? You should apologize for your rude remarks.

  7. My neighbor saved a Yorkie Poodle mix from the street. The Yorkie Poo has been groomed. She is in good health and all vaccinations have been made by Ladrone. She is about 3 years old and about 7 lbs. She fetches, plays well with other dogs, potty trained, and she is not a yapper. Very calm laid back pup. Looking for a home now that she is healthy and safe off the street. PM me if you want a good small lap dog.

  8. I found this subject interesting so I went to the plaza in Jocotepec and asked if anyone knew of rentals....there are no rental agencies here.....everything is done or most everything is done by word of mouth. I have pictures of two houses and info on a third. One with 4 bedrooms, large walled yard, 4 banos.....8500 mxp. A second one with a large pool and large yard, US style kitchen....5 bedrooms with 4 full baths....$800 usd....the 4th is a former government owned house that has been declared surplus and now for rent. I am told that english is spoken. None are furnished. PM me if you want to make contact.

  11. Remember that the standard keyboard for Mexican computers is slightly different than US and Canadian computers. They have different letters. And the second meaning when pushing the capital key on a number is even more different. Check it out by asking Mr. Google what the Spanish keyboard looks like At one time it was almost impossible to get a US keyboard layout on a computer purchased in Mexico. I hope that this is not still the case. I do not know.

  12. Many small, unfurnished houses for rent under 10,000 pesos per month in Chapala Haciendas. These are often very big lots, and many people buy those metal pole and plastic canvas kits, to cover anything. It is most assuredly very quiet up here. Security is pretty good, but now systems like Ring are affordable, portable, and easy to install. With software like the Ring Neighbor app, you can send any suspicious video to the community's security patrol. I wouldn't waste too much time with real estate agents. They get paid one month's rent for securing a years lease. They get many times more if they sell a property. The smart ones use rentals as a lead generator, very soon they will ask you why are not buying a place. The prices are so low, and they are only bound to increase. I'll bet you have heard that one before! The variable is the value of the US dollar. There is talk of a currency trading tax, which purposely lowers international value.

  13. If not Lakeside there are plenty of cheap apartments in Guadalajara. Mt godson just got a 2 bedrooms living room kitchen and bath for 2500 pesos in Tonala not far from the bus station, that is around 125 dollars so there is plenty left to find a place to park vehicules by the month.

  17. Sorry woocie I’ve got three cooking classes this next week , and an extremely busy social calendar....so this is not necessarily my highest priority .However you are somewhat right..l do not really consider a “ fried chicken and burger takeaway joint “ a restaurant. Ishmat is an accomplished Chef and a long-standing restaurant owner not a village family trying their best to make a living ... so I’m not sure he deserves a great deal of slack..I would expect none myself . I am glad it “smarts “ and so it should , it is so easy to criticize when you are not “ the man in the ring “ ...the bystander with nothing to lose .

  18. Are you sure you're using very little electricity? Habits and usage change over time especially with the knowledge you have solar. As an experiment, every morning take a reading from the inverter of the total electricity produced. On the second and subsequent days you'll know how much solar you produced by subtracting yesterday's total from today's. Some you used and the excess went back to CFE. Now go to the meter and record the 2 numbers, first the amount consumed from CFE and the amount sent back to CFE. Again subtract yesterday's readings from today's. Now you know how much you took from and gave back to CFE in a 24 hour period. Your total consumption is the amount you consumed from CFE and the difference between the total kWh produced by your system less the amount you sent back to CFE. Anything you didn't send back to CFE you used somewhere in the house during daylight hours. To get the best info you need to repeat this process for a month or more as the sunshine hours are a lot less this time of year than let's say February to April when the cloud cover is minimal. If you find you are consuming more than you think then find a Kill-a-Watt device and start measuring usage of electronics, especially refrigerators. Once you take the time to gather this information you'll be in a better position to find the answer. One other thing. Without including the wattage per panel the number of panels is somewhat useless. In Ajijic I have 24 panels, each producing 128 watts for a total size of 3.072 kWh. At my house in Guayabitos I have 20 panels but each produce 280 watts so daily capacity is 5.6kwh so I can potentially produce 80% more power there than here with 4 less panels.

  20. There are several places that host 'open mic' sessions so it might be an idea to go and chat - can't tell you where at the moment since you will be here during high season and things change. As for flying, there may be pilots in the expat community, but I'm not sure if the airport is accessible to expats. Insidelakeside.com has a discussion area dedicated to fishing which you may find informative - https://www.insidelakeside.com/c2-fishing-in-mexico

  22. Thank you. I was just going to ask why somebody is inclined to answer this way. Not helpful at all. Why can't they just say that $500.00 is very low rent for the area, especially for a two bedroom/two bath house with parking as described? Hopefully the OP has done or will.do research about rental availability and cost before moving here.

  24. Producing large quantities of correctly fried chicken is virtually impossible without commercial pressure fryers . Regular commercial deep fryers cannot hold the 325 degree temps needed when you drop 6 - 8 pieces of room temp chicken in there..never mind refrigerated ! The temptation is to raise the temp , which burns the coating before the chicken is cooked .The size of the chicken is also V I P. .. in the U S the bird of choice is usually a “ broiler / fryer “ which is a designated age and size , not to be confused with a “ spring chicken “.... not too many of them around here anyway....no offense ladies......

  25. Hope is usually expressed with, "Ojala", which derives from the hispanomuselmanos form of, "If Alla wills it." After all, they were a Moorish culture until the "Catholic Kings" in 1492, just a very short time before they became Conquistadores. That is also why the architecture is a very simple Middle Eastern in style, but without the Arabesque adornments. Even "Guadalajara" is Arabic, as is much of the Spanish language.

  26. You might be more successful getting the subject back on topic by, oh I don’t know, talking about the topic. But you have said you are not interested in this topic. I completely understand certain types of people getting under your skin. However, this really is not the venue for dealing with that in your preferred manner. It has previously been suggested that people take these types of discussions into private messages and have at it. Of course, this does not provide an audience for your attempt to take someone down a peg or two which appears to be part of what you want. Believe me, I have been there. It takes way more energy than I am interested in expending at this point in my life — you know, like nearer to the end of it than I am comfortable being.

  27. I caught A Safeway store red handed passing off a trimmed chuck cut as prime rib steak. I complained to the butcher to no avail and he kept doing it. I explained to management that my next step will be to bring in CBC news with camera to show what they're doing. They gave me 4 rib steaks and 2 pounds of shrimp, thanked me and stopped doing the nasty deed. I can't recall if the butcher kept his job.

  33. I don't know you, Senoir D, but I am assuming you're a stand up guy, so don't take this the wrong way: It really chaps my butt when someone on this board reviews a place and then lectures me on how I should think about it, and how I should give them a chance, and how everyone is different. In my mid-60s now, I think I've figured that part of life out, as have we all. Give me advice on where to get my car fixed, what day I should buy airline tickets, or how to make chicken broth. Do not tell me how to think. As far as restaurants go, we all will make up our own minds regardless of any pontificating anyway.

  36. Wow. Such angst concerning agents. First of all, a rental agency takes a monthly fee, so they are invested. I guess there are no "smart ones", because I know a bunch of 'em and they don't go chasing renters. And rental prices are just beginning to go down, as the whole real-estate market is slowing down.

  37. "AMLO deletes social programs from Calderón and Peña Experts say the change was necessary, but the diagnosis was wrong; he only seeks to put his stamp There is no "clear strategy" in the changes to social programs and their impact on the shortcomings of the population that requires it most, experts say. UNIVERSAL FILE" https://www.google.com.mx/amp/s/amp.eluniversal.com.mx/amp/note/amp/eluniversal/1564335 I've seen the same thing lately. For rent signs in the previous federal government funded social program locations - I can see on their window or on the building the government logo of the federal agency sponsoring them - and some had a lot of activity. Now they are gone.
