  1. Politics and personal attacks are allowed if they are the right kind.

  3. The heavens opened up in Riberas around 7:40 pm. TORRENTIAL rain and I accumulated 1 and 1/4 inches in a half an hour in the rain gauge. BIG wind and moderate thunder and lightening and the temperature dropped 20 degrees F. I am absolutely amazed that I still have a landline, internet and electricity. I may even have to haul out a blanket for tonight.

  4. It's time once again to check your Telmex bill for another unsolicited insurance product. The charge is SIN98/URGENCIAS MEDICAS in the amount of $19.90 + IVA. Keep an eye out for it. https://telmex.com/web/hogar/servicios-membresias-urgenciasmedicas

  5. I think that all of Kyle's Posts are saying that one must live/domicile in the US in order to qualify for a Medicare Advantage policy. I totally agree with that statement. Yes, if one's domicile is the US and comes to Mexico on a trip and has an emergency here, then 'most/all' Advantage policies will reimburse one for that expense once they return and file the paperwork. Above board. If one is living/domiciled in Mexico but still has some kind of connection back in the US, IMO it is still illegal to apply for/get an Advantage policy there. Not saying that someone can't and hasn't done this or is still doing this but it ain't legal. Just shady. If one is living/domiciled in the US but is playing snowbird/sunbird for, say, a few months each year AND has an emergency while in Mexico I suspect that when they go back home they could submit paperwork to their Advantage carrier and still get reimbursed. Fine line maybe. Better check your policy. Insurance companies are ALWAYS trying to see how they can get out of paying anything even when everything is perfectly above board! YMPWV.... Your Mileage Probably Won't Vary

  6. Yes, instead one could live in the U.S. another 15 years in and and out of hospitals, then watching tv all day in Medicare nursing homes, and finally end up strapped in a wheel chair in a soggy diaper. Old saying, “I am here for a good time, not for a long time.”

  7. Herman, If you have those pre-existing conditions and have insurance in the US, you best stay there unless you have sufficient assets to pay out of pocket if a situation arises here.

  9. Probably more folks than you realize at lakeside have done just that. Probably the majority are happy they did so. For the ones who aren't they have either moved back NOB where they have Medicare or Canadian health coverage or they get their friends to throw a "benefit" this or that to help them pay. It's ever been thus at the lake, why tell anyone don't come? We're all going to die and for some quality of life is more important than quantity of life. YMMV

  10. The proper health insurance research (plans, coverages, agents or reasons which to pick) should have been done online extensively way before the actual move.

  12. We considering switching from Telmex to Ilox. Not keeping both, but making the switch, which requires giving up our Telmex landline for the ILOX VOIP. Has anyone done so and successfully transferred their Telmex phone number to their ILOX phone? Or must one get a new phone number from Ilox? I've heard keeping the same number is possible, but would like to confirm with someone who has done this successfully since having to acquire a new number would be a factor in the decision.

  13. This restaurant, located #4D , 16th de Septiembre, must be one of the very few establishments that continues to offer great food and service at very reasonable prices, consistently, time after time after time, it is a gem We were there this Sunday.... as were many others for fathers Day's lunch, albeit very busy and noisy..... the waiters and kitchen did a great job

  16. Saying that talking the right kind of politics and personal attacks are allowed here is “trashing others” but saying “Yep, that is a typical Libtard response” is fine and dandy. 🤣

  17. The OP headed his post VUMI medical insurance and then never mentioned it again. Was he, by chance, asking about this insurance policy?

  18. Unfortunately true. FATCA was passed in 2010 by uknowwho. As a result a lot of foreign banks dumped their expat customers, particularly in Europe. We pay tax to both Mexico and U.S. on our Mexican investment income. You do get some credit on the U.S. tax return for the Mexican tax return.

  19. Ha-Ha, I am the lease holder, they aren't allowing me anything, I'm allowing them....they had a lot of work to do when I went in yesterday, hope Monday wasn't too ambitious considering all the gas/electrical hookups. They have gotten many things accomplished this week, but Rome wasn't built in a day....It's gonna be great when it opens.

  25. Do you REALLY want to pay a lot more on your pitifully small property taxes (or perhaps other new taxes) to raise the funds to pay all the new cops and the vehicles they would need? Do you REALLY want a lot more transit police on the streets, pulling you over for all your intentional and unintentional infractions? The beauty of topes is that they are cheap, they are easy to obtain, and they exact punishment for excessive speed every time and the punishment is immediate. I really don't have a lot of problems with topes because they make the lead-footed Mexicans and Gringos slow down. There are probably a lot more people and animals alive because of them.

  26. The first 3 words are the key. Some here do not live anywhere other than Mexico. Prior to Medicare, our US insurance covered us outside the US for emergencies regardless of the length of our absence. In 2009 we paid out of pocket here for an emergency and the insurance reimbursed us. Now under Medicare and a supplemental Medigap policy, we are covered by Medigap (not Medicare) for emergencies during the first 60 days we are outside the US (subject to deductibles and limits higher than our US coverage).

  29. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned CBD oil on this thread yet. Most CBD oil is really just legal hemp seed oil, unless the label says otherwise. Just 5 or 6 drops under the tongue can really relax you and allow you to acquire a deep and restful night of sleep with zero side effects and zero drugged or groggy feeling in the morning. CBD oil has been widely covered on this board discussing its potential as a non-adicctive, safe medium to get a good nights sleep. Forget about big pharma, thinking about the dangerous side effects of their drugs, alone, will keep you up all night with worry. Just google CBD oil.

  30. My response on Facebook to this same OP -- Hi Cam! Thank you for your compliments, and in regards to the Wednesday entertainment, they have been let go. We let them play through the dates we had agreed on, but knew we would not be keeping them on the entertainment schedule. Our only other regular live music is on Mondays, at 6pm, and it is a lovely jazz trio called The Groovy Roosters. Great musicians, no singing, easy to talk with your table still, people do like them and come specifically for them! I cant remember if you have been here on a Monday night while they have played, but I assure you they are a much better atmosphere. I am sorry your friends had to have their first experience here on that night, but please bring them back for dinner...we will have a bottle of wine waiting for you, on the house! See you soon!
