  3. You have the right to eat or not eat at any establishment you want. If they don't allow dogs then don't bring yours. The owners have the right to decide if they want to allow pets or not. Mexican law seems to be interpreted by each establishment as they see fit. The dogs are innocent in this conversation. My question would be are you really that dependent on your dog that you have to drag it everywhere you go? If it is a service dog that is another matter, but most of these dogs are just pampered pouches. Some bark at the other dogs and some bark at customers and staff. That dog should be left at home. Other people do not necessarily think that your pup is the cutest thing they have ever seen. They don't want your pup under their chair while they eat and they don't want to have to be careful not to trip over your leash when coming or going. If your dog can sit quietly and is well behaved, has been in the house all day by itself, and is allowed to go where you are eating, then take it. If you have been dragging it around town all day, take it home and let it rest. I choose to eat anywhere I want even if there are dogs there. I don't care for it if a pet is misbehaving, as it makes dining a less enjoyable experience, but I will not boycott the restaurant just because the owner made a choice I did not agree with. If you don't want to eat there then don't, but don't go on the web board and bash a poor little mom and pop restaurant that could easily lose business because you disagree with or maybe misunderstood their policy. These people work hard for us, their customers, and bashing them here is not something we should do over a dog policy. And yes I have 2 dogs and no I do not take them with me. Ever. My choice.

  4. My attitude concerning the modem is that it is the internet provider's equipment, not mine. If the provider needs to exchange or diagnose a problem, the equipment is the way that they installed it. Making it easier for them and myself. I just plug in my devices. If I want to install or change something, it is still on my equipment.

  7. Oregontochapala, thanks so much for tracking and timing my posts. I suppose I will have to be more astute in the future not to sound repetetive and tdo my best to avoid taking up people's valuable time by asking them to read a post on a topic more than once. As to whether or not the answers were not to my liking, well, the suggestions offered before were much appreciated, but not applicable in this situation. In fact, I am asking specifically about floating ceiling panels.

  8. If she is on oxygen 24/7 as she stated, she should be able to live anywhere she chooses since the oxygen and humidity level in the atmosphere will have no impact on her receiving adequate levels of oxygen and moisture through her medical devices.

  9. What´s with all these establishments serving up Swiss enchiladas, trying to capture all the Swiss bearded ones and their germs. ! Proxiamente ¡ Belgian enchiladas in a restaurant that allows dogs and beards. Woe is me...…..When will someone put a McD´s franchise Lake Chapala and end all this silliness.

  11. What doctors say that??? My mother had quintuple bypass after a heart attack at age 80. She lived to be 92 when she suffered her last heart attack packing for her winter fling to FL. My aunt had quadruple bypass after a heart attack at age 81; she also lived an active life until age 91 (did not die of heart disease). While I am a strong believer in healthy diets and especially weight management, it is silly to say doctors do not think heart surgery prolongs life. Makes your entire post questionable.

  13. We very much enjoyed our lunch to day the La Vita Bella.......... the ambiance, views etc makes the location great place to celebrate. BUT....... I continue to be amazed at the total lack of respect of the Male companion/partners....they come in looking like they have just finished gardening... Why Why do the female partners go out with some person who has not made the effort to change his shirt or get rid of that gruby baseball cap, which he does not bother to remove during the meal. Whilst the customers were mostly Mexicans......, this mode of dress is equally found amongst the Gringo crowd. Perhaps the ladies can answer the question..When you have made a big effort to look glamorous ....why do you go out with your partner looking so untidy?...I hope he is potty trained

  14. I know you do not want to do this but your only real solution is to to scrape the ceilings back to base and start over. The suspended ceiling will look out of place in a Mexican casa and hurt your resale price if you one day want to sell casa.

  15. I can only tell you what I have been told from a friend that is taking someone to dialysis twice a week. There are 2 clinics in/near Ajijic that do dialysis. They are both full at all times and they are not taking on new patients. My friend has to take her patient to Guadalajara. Hope this helps.

  21. There is no cure for COPD. One can only try to treat the symptoms. Needing oxygen 24/7 would seem to indicate a rather severe situation, perhaps "end stage". COPD gets worse with time, and is eventually fatal. It puts great strain on the heart, generally subjecting the person to congestive heart failure. My credentials: I have both.

  22. Here goes: Eat whatever you like, whenever you wish. If you get heavier, eat less. If you get skinny, eat more. Exercise is good, but always optional. You were "terminal" from the moment of inception. Good luck, and be careful in traffic!

  26. Karen did not give her current location and that would be a good clue as to how well she may cope here. But, somebody who is using oxygen 24/7 (as stated in her OP) should exercise extra caution no matter where they choose to live. There are plenty of variables and extremes in the stages of COPD. For her, I think it may be difficult

  28. I just came from seeing the dog. She is beautiful and NOT living in that crate. She was groomed yesterday, she is absolutely gorgeous, her cost is beautiful, her teeth are perfect, her disposition is wonderful. Do not cast stones before you know what is going on. If you are so concerned about this dog, you should have RUN over to Chapala to see her. Whoever adopts her will be very lucky. She is a magnificent creature, and her eyes are breathtaking- so luminous. The vets are treating her beyond reproach. Wonderful people. Anybody need lessons?

  34. Genetics, diet, microbiome, environment, etc. They all have something to do with our health but when you need a pacemaker and ask for costs the answer should be in dollar/peso terms. When you’re in complete heart block, sudden onset of a-fib or svt, your priorities become focused on tackling the symptoms and not on finding long term solutions.

  35. Although I applaud your natural efforts to reverse disease, I find your statement "Genetics have very little to do with any disease" very naïve. They most certainly do and it is an upcoming field of research with regards to auto-immune diseases and cancers and coronary disease.

  36. What is high altitude? The air at higher altitudes is colder, less dense, and contains fewer oxygen molecules. This means that you need to take more breaths in order to get the same amount of oxygen as you would at lower altitudes. The higher the elevation, the more difficult breathing becomes. According to the Cleveland Clinic, heights above sea level are categorized as follows: high altitude: 8,000 to 12,000 feet (2,438 to 3,658 meters) very high altitude: 12,000 to 18,000 feet (3,658 meters to 5,486 meters) extreme altitude: greater than 18,000 feet or 5,486 meters

  37. Generally if not always a person coming to Lake Chapala from that direction would come through Laredo. The route is well traveled and is all 4-lane, mostly toll (cuota). The Brownsville route would generally be taken if going down into eastern Mexico or maybe if a seasoned driver in Mexico. Assuming that you do not already have a visa of any kind and have not driven into Mexico before, you will need to get a Tourist Card and a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) at the border once inside Mexico at Immigrations in Neuvo Laredo. If you don't know about the TIP, just ask. You will also need Mexican car Insurance as your US insurance does not cover driving in Mexico. Available online before leaving or at the border (but maybe a bit more expensive there). I would recommend staying the night in Laredo.... plenty of nice motels right downtown, mainly along either side of I35. Get you some pesos at any number of Casa de Combio as you will need them for gas, tolls, motels and eating. Tolls should be around $70 US these days all the way to Chapala. Gas is expensive running around $3.60/gallon US. Many/most people stop in Matehuala about half way down, on highway 57. Take the road into Matehuala and not the bypass. There are several motels but most folks stay at the Hotel Las Palmas Midway Inn.... about $50. Has a decent restaurant but if you want a real treat walk across the street to La Noria. In the morning after breakfast continue driving through town and resume the trip on the freeway south of town towards San Luis Potosi and ultimately Guadalajara.

I trained for many years with other prominent physicians labelled “opinion makers.” Bombarded with scientific literature, continually attending education seminars, we opinion makers insisted heart disease resulted from the simple fact of elevated blood cholesterol. The only accepted therapy was prescribing medications to lower cholesterol and a diet that severely restricted fat intake. The latter of course we insisted would lower cholesterol and heart disease. Deviations from these recommendations were considered heresy and could quite possibly result in malpractice. These recommendations are no longer scientifically or morally defensible. The discovery a few years ago that inflammation in the artery wallis the real cause of heart disease is slowly leading to a paradigm shift in how heart disease and other chronic ailments will be treated. Let me repeat that: The injury and inflammation in our blood vessels is caused by the low fat diet recommended for years by mainstream medicine. What are the biggest culprits of chronic inflammation? Quite simply, they are the overload of simple, highly processed carbohydrates ( sugar, flour and all the products made from them) and the excess consumption of omega-6 vegetable oils like soybean, corn and sunflowerthat are found in many processed foods."

  47. Dr. Joe Crowe has a well documented coronary heart disease reversal on clinical record. Google Dr Joe Crowe Dr Esselstyn to see before and after pics of his artery. Eating vegan for some people just isn’t going to happen but it will reverse coronary heart disease no matter what your age. All the stents, bi passes, pacemakers, valve replacements and clips won’t add any more time to your life, that’s what the doctors say. It won’t prolong your life, just make it a little more comfortable to continue doing what your doing to have coronary heart disease. Keep eating your dairy and meat. MD have no cures, just mask the symptoms. Until you stop eating what makes you sick you won’t reverse anything. Genetics have very little to do with any disease. 10 months-1 year on a vegan diet verses cutting my chest in 1/2...I’ll take the vegan diet. Doesn’t take long to start feeling better. also look up Dr Ellsworth Wareham, a renowned cardiac surgeon and longtime vegan. Geez, even Bill Clinton did it ya’ll..
