  2. So if someone saves every stray or mistreated dog they come across, and picks up garbage, they are excused from assaulting another human?

  3. Sadly, posts that are hi-jacked are the primary reason that many, many of the longer term Lakeside residents have given up on this web-site. We understand that it would be impossible for the moderator to successfully oversee the proofing of responses to ensure that people remain on topic. Sadly, a significant number of people, like ourselves, very seldom, if ever, respond to posts, for exactly the same reason because we simply don't want to sift through useless drivel that has zero to do with the original post. Nor to we post very often "unless" we think we have something that might be of

  4. Can someone tell me his age and preferably his date of birth? Maybe I should give you a little more info as to why I'm asking for the his age. I am a member of the Lake Chapala Shrine Club and our International Shriners Hospitals for Children treat children up to the age of 18 for Orthopaedic, Burn Care, Spinal Cord Injury and Cleft Lip and Palate treatment, regardless of their ability to pay. Our Mexico City Hospital may be able to help. See Shriners Hospitals for Children - Orthopaedics

  5. Yes, he is 17 and a representative of the Shriners has visited Alehandro (we call him Alex) at the hospital and he is going to be fitted with an excellent prosthetic leg. We will now be able to help with new teeth. Thanks to the Shriners for their caring, assistance and love for children. Donated items for sale can be dropped off anytime at The Penthouse, Avenida del Pilar #54 in Riberas behind Mirasol. Someone will answer the doorbell and receive your items with much thanks and appreciation.

  6. "What evil lurks in heart's and mind's of men? The shadow knows!". I grew up with my Mom saying this about everything we couldn't figure out except she said The SHADOW do! as chills ran up and down my spine 😱😊 Moderator,. Isn't it time to shut this conversation down before these people insight more negative things? It seems that some people don't understand that other people's problems manifest in different ways. If this woman continuously exhibits all the behaviors that have been listed here and is evidenced on her Facebook page she could be in the early stages of some kind of dement

  9. How complacent many of us are. Judging without all the facts, not knowing how aggressive the caretaker was, not knowing if she is, in fact, in the early stages of a type of dementia or a depressive state that makes you act differently than you normally would. This board is so quick to judge others and demean them, many times being nasty with a sense of righteousness. Very sad state of affairs.

  10. Huh. I guess I missed all the posts from the people who have experienced or witnessed “quite another side” of the gardener’s behavior. You know the behavior sweet Ellie described to malign him when trying to justify her unjustifiable actions, the ones she has never apologized for or even come close to acknowledging were wrong.

  12. I have know this woman since I moved here and her efforts for the community towards animals and picking up garbage has blown me away. I’m proud to call her a friend. She admitted she did what she is accused of. The man has taken no responsibility for his long term harassment. Also, I have had problems with the man in question too. The first and only time I went, he first pretended to not speak English then got in my face clearly speaking English. So, I totally believe that he was the initial aggressor. He was so ugly to me I never returned. Yes, he is in his 70’s but he has no problem ha

  13. Our young hardworking Assistant Gardener was hit by a drunk driver. He's in the hospital with severe injuries. He is suffering with a broken jaw, lost teeth and has had one leg amputated from below the knee. He comes from a good hardworking family, but medical costs are mounting and we, the residents of The Penthouse, are hoping to help. We would like for him to have a good prosthetic leg so he can return to work when he has fully mended. We miss him. We are planning to have a Bazar and bake sale or open café on Saturday, September 22. I am clearing my home of decorator items, kitch

  14. Wow. I'm impressed. You've just written all the new rules. Congrats. I hope they offer you the job. But look: You made a post. You didn't ask a question. You made a statement. It was already a well-known fact to those on here. If you didn't want any responses, you could have mentioned that. Chat board threads wander, always have, and that is one of the attractions. And by continuing to be so damned judgmental, you have now hijacked your own post twice. However, I'm glad you are able to tell us about all the people "like ourselves" and why they don't post. 15. We stayed there twice. Their grounds and the location is perfect. They cater to well to do Guadalajara people and are not entirely Gringo friendly. But that is about it. Their rooms (few years back) and the food was not so great. Although we go there occasionally for Bohemia Obscura, Nachos or club sandwich . It is pleasant place on the lake to sit and people watch on Sunday afternoon. I personally would stayed in Posada Nueva. It is much more charming and welcoming.

  22. You don't have to figure out which side to take. The woman admits to assault in her statement. She threw a bag of dog crap at a person and it hit him. No one has the right to do that. Assault is a crime regardless of whether the assailant is otherwise a saint. The lame excuse that she was frustrated and 'lost it' is absurd. That is how most assaults occur; someone gets mad, doesn't control their impulses and assaults someone. It is up to the caretaker to decide whether to pursue this assault with the MP. I hope he does. 23. Taaffe, this woman doesn't look much younger than the gardener. She also comes with many good comments from her friends. The trash she threw around in her anger was trash she had already picked up. She did not run home and get her trash and bring it and throw it around. Since you nor anyone else, including me, that is commenting about this incident were there it might be a good idea to quit fanning these particular flames. Fighting fire with fire has never worked and there are always 2 sides of a story. The woman admitted to throwing HER dog's feces that she had picked up in her doggy ba

  24. At 79, and it being about a decade or more since my last prostrate exam, I figure it's time for another check. I saw the name Dr. Oscar E. Olvera Flores in a 2014 post but can't find him so am asking here. Any recommendations Lakeside? Thanks.

  25. I have 90 days with which to re-establish a connection with an employer because i hold a Residential Temporal -Permiso para Trabajar. There is only 1 game in the Chapala area to work legally as an English teacher and they like to take you as hostage and keep you enslaved from 8am-9pm. So I am completely over that as I did it for about a year. I worked many years in GDL in the past, never encountered that. I will be seeking work in GDL and commuting by Chapala Plus if I can find something. My big question is why aren't the private language schools, or private schools in general connected a

  26. The best thing about La Nueva Posada is its location right on the lake. There is a beautiful outdoor dining area and the rooms are large and comfortable. The food? Good enough, but it's within walking distance of many restaurants and the downtown. It's quiet there, too.

  28. La Nueva Posada is a wonderful place to stay and eat with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Real de Chapala has mediocre food and friends who stayed there were not that impressed. When I had dinner with them, I ordered a Caesar salad... that arrived with packaged Caesar dressing. 'nuff said? La Nueva Posada has the added advantage of being closer to everything yet also far from the madding crowd and is quiet.

  29. Maybe for you, Tiny. At other's expense. This whole thing has been rather disgusting. Taaffe, this woman is not my friend, I don't even know her And neither do you! This woman could not even figure out how to post on this webboard and unless her friends are continuing to show her this thread she isn't reading your pronouncements of her penalties as, of course, you are her judge and jury. Mainecoons it seems that these people don't want to consider that the woman might have a problem. They are having way to much fun playing with their lesser selves.

Thus, I hope that Ms. Ellie Egan never sets foot in the field again, and if she does, I further hope that appropriate legal action is taken against her.

Maybe this can help. www.seguro-popular.gob.mx or www.seguropopularjalisco.gob.mx i searched my paperwork for exact address and could not find. not hard to find in chapala. anyone on the street could tell you. when you go in , skip the front desk. you'll be waiting in line in the second waiting room. if you have all your papers in a file folder correct and exact, you really wouldn't need a translator. it was very fast. no questions asked. if you don't have exactly what you need, then you'd need to understand what they are saying to you. for me it was cost free. i haven

  33. Like I said, I wait until it's been raining HARD for an hour before I put my garafons under it. The roof it comes off of is clean- no bird poop, no animal poop, no poop of any kind, no dust left after an hour of hard rain, no rotting leaves. It's a slightly sloped roof painted with white impermealizante, I can see if it's clean. Have been doing this every rainy season for 4 years. I'm not dead and I'm not sick? 🙂

  37. The Navarro sharp, aged, white cheddar has been available at Walmart for several years. It's really good. I haven't be to Walmart in a long time, but it used to be in a black or almost black package? The other mild Navarro cheddar isn't worth the plastic wrap it's packaged in. 40. They have the basic Navarro cheddar, which is quite mild and close to the taste of cheese curds from back home, and Extra Anejo, which is aged longer than the Anejo. Very, very much like cheddar back home. I was in Farmacia Guadalajara on Saturday, and even they are carrying the Navarro brand (which sells any type of Mexican cheese you can think of, just about, including slices). This year Navarro is really pushing their product. I stopped buying the good stuff (Tillamook and one other) at CostCo because of the size and the cash outlay, too. And as Canadians, I like to think Ferret and I know

  42. I have had many occasions in life where it was difficult to hold my tongue and my temper, but I cannot think of any excuse for throwing feces at anyone. This was a malicious assault, and blaming the victim is clear in her post. No excuse cuts it, IMO. That does not mean I'd like to see her deported, but the least she could do is offer a sincere apology to the gardener and avoid returning to that area and having further contact with him, as he requested.

  43. There are always two sides to any story....this lady happens to be very concerned about the way dogs are treated in Mexico. She uses a lot of her money to neuter, and feed lost and abandoned and mistreated dogs and have them adopted. An unfortunate incident as she also picks up the trash on the field. Have a great day everyone whichever side you are on.

  46. This man is 78 years old and a respected and hard working member of the community. He has never harassed anyone and I have known Don Luis for a long time.. everyone knows him and this woman is lying. There is no excuse for throwing feces at anyone and this is what she did. She also threw all the garbage all over the field. If you know her please tell her never to go back there.

  47. I actually enjoy large portions. I despise artsy-fartsy nouveau cuisine miniature pieces of art that won't satisfy an ant. The vast majority of Tapatio tourists here wear goofy sneakers and shorts, just like everyone else. They come for vacations and weekend getaways, and just like everywhere else in the world, they don't dress up to go out for supper in a tourist town.

  48. I agree about doing all we can to reduce plastic, but the garafon bottles just get changed out for a new one, they don't get thrown away until they are old and cracked. Your old filters and UV bulbs are garbage, too. I priced out the under sink filters- the least expensive was thousands of pesos, plus it wouldn't fit under my sink anyway. I go through a garafon a week @ 26 pesos. Do the math.
    1 point
  49. Instead of buying bottled water and thus putting more plastic into our already polluted world, why not have either an under-the-sink filtration system installed or a whole-house filtration system. The latter means you are also filtering the water you shower with. I have a whole-house system as it was here when I bought the house. It costs 800 pesos for a carbon and sediment filter every six months, and 900 pesos once a year for the UV bulb. Don't know what the filter costs for the under-the-sink system.
