I would most definitely check with Quality Care. Your first contact should be with Letty at their front desk. The pain Specialist that my hubby used was in Guadalajara and was recommended by Quality Care. HER name was Dra. Ana and the prescription came in triplicate with a bar code on it. All the meds she prescribed were only available in Guadalajara and patches were her preferred method. That said, none of them worked. And, he ended up trying just about everything. Some people are ,unfortunately, genetically inclined that way. For others, some pain meds can increase the amount of pain they are feeling. It can be a very vicious circle. Dr. Hector Valenzuela was the Doctor that my hubby was seeing at Quality Care. Very nice and very caring and it was he who put us in touch with Dra. Ana...……. she is an Anaesthesiologist who specializes in pain meds. My hubby had stage 4 colon cancer.

I think Chillin and dennis are talking about Carniceria De La Torre. They are located on the corner of Los Maestros and Isla del Presidio in Chapala. This is on the north side of Soriana's parking lot.

Sarcasm is a poor substitute for a knowledgeable response. I presume that the doctor who is treating the patient is the one who determines if drugs are "needed". There is never an excuse for a doctor being rude, and since you weren't there at the time, you can believe the patient.....or not.

Do I really have to explain that the "fault" lies with those fools who don't "need" the drugs and want them to get high? This is as opposed to the patients in pain who DO need the drugs? Please. I would never fault the latter group.

Sounds like the drug companies and doctors can't win either " Okay, McFlippant, you obviously aren't familiar with the information out there on the drug companies supplying large quantities of opiates to smaller towns than could possibly be warranted by the size of the population. The fault lies there as well as with doctors who overprescribe and with the fools who don't value themselves enough to avoid taking them. At that lowest level, getting high is much more important than dealing with life. Why not educate yourself before offering your opinion? I could offer links, but that would be going to way too much trouble for someone of your mind set.🐂

Your post is right on target. Watching a loved one be in pain is horrible. Anyone who is being flippant on this subject is either ignorant of the situation or mean spirited at the core. There is plenty of blame to go around for the prescription drug abuse epidemic in the states, starting at the top with the drug companies themselves.

Pappy - you are totally out of line on this one, and owe the lady an apology. I am familiar with the situation - botched surgery - and admire them that they are not taking the all too common coward's approach of suicide, or slow suicide with black tar heroin, cheap and abundant these days.

Certainly Dennis. I don't know the street and number, but if you go through the Soriana parking lot, near the store, and turn left out of the parking lot, you can't miss it. Big painted sign on the corner building. They are third generation butchers there, and a really nice family.

Sorry for your experience Zeb and I do understand. But, to have access to the heavy duty meds here, your Doctor MUST be an Anaesthesiologist FIRST and then specialize in pain meds. That, and the prescription in triplicate with bar code is how the meds are controlled here. If something not so heavy duty is required then you have other options. Best of luck whatever your decision. I can't think of a more helpless position to be in watching someone you love in pain.

I found how to select Ignore all content by that user, so that is now done! His content will no longer show up on my screen. Nice feature the forum offers. I do my best to treat people nicely and kindly and I always hope for the same, but some are incapable of this. This just isn't in their make up. It's just feels good to them to be critical and attack others.

And there are those who made these remarks without knowing what all had already been done, but nonetheless, continue to make judgments.

This person is totally judgmental , critical, with absolutely no facts or knowledge of the personal situation. Best to ignore his content and not respond. There is a way for me not to see it anymore and I cannot remember how to do that. If you know, please PM me.

OK, here's a tip: I've read this kind of stuff is available without a prescription in many parts of the US. Try West Virginia, Ohio or Kentucky for starters. However, it will probably cost more than $800 MX. Mexico has seen what those pain meds have done to the US and has decided they are not going to be readily or cheaply accessible here. I say Bravo to them and to folks who gotta have them, do what you gotta do to get them.

You haven't even heard mine. All I provided was minimal details. Wouldn't that be fun or do you just want to start an issue here? I have an extremely ill person in my household and I don't need criticism. I need help. He wrote a prescription for pain meds which we could not fill as the pharmacy was out of it. I nicely asked for his assistance in locating the medicine. This is a hard scrip to fill and he knows that. We had JUST left his office. He made me wait through an entire other patient's consultation and was going to see another patient while he kept me waiting some more. I stepped in to please ask if he could rewrite it, and he got irritated telling me how busy he was. This was urgent. The worse part was his tone of voice. We will relieve him of one patient and lighten his work load by going to someone who is polite.

Pain patients are committing suicide because they cannot get help. My topic is about getting help with a serious medical condition, not about addition. If you want that discussion, please start your own topic.

We have sold several many items for decent prices at Todo Bueno. Even some items we thought would never sell such as 20 year old scuba and snorkel gear. The parking is easy and plentiful, at least the times we have been there.

I have yet to buy anything at Barbara's Bazaar because the parking is awful and I find their prices much higher than the other stores. Even Todo Bueno could use some serious organization and marketing. My current favourite is "It's kinda Bazaar..and kinda not"... on the lakeside of the highway in Riberas. Stuff in there seems to move very quickly. Easy to park, easy to walk around and logically displayed. YMMV.

I don't have a favourite. I cruise them all. And there are a LOT of them on the highway in Riberas. Almost as much fun as going to auctions in rural Ontario. There is very little in my house that was bought new. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle... if at all possible.

Ferret: Thank you for your kind and helpful response. You are one of those I know who are consistently thoughtful. I will certainly consider that. Do you happen to remember the office fee? It seems those are pretty high. I am aware that most of those partnership organization typically have several specialists as part of their team even if they are not there full time. I am a bit nervous about that arrangement, because our first pain management doctor came from Guadalajara for those types of patients, sometimes did not show up. This really caused a crises because, as you know, you only get the exact amount of pills and no extras, so there is no allowance for unexpected events and delays. One time she left a prescription and we were charged for a full office visit anyway. We did not find that acceptable at all. One time we drove to Guad to her office and, evidently, she was called away on an emergency prior to our arrival and never bothered to call and let us know. The result was a wasted trip AND no prescription. What a mess that was. After two or three episodes like that, we are leery and said no more, so we switched to another doctor who is local. I am sure you can understand this.
