  1. Today
  2. Yes, especially on the weekends. Plenty of young Mexicans. Probably FROM Guadalajara but...
  3. I don't think so. That is what I thought might be the case but I see from research that they have been warning they were going to do this for a couple of years.
  4. Yes, that sounds right. Who knows? Natasha thinks she knows. But my twin brother, he knows for sure. Lexy
  5. I would never change my email address because its like my cell phone number, they are connected to many things such as my bank as an example.
  6. Neither of us got it either. But I did Google it and it has been around/coming for a couple of years.
  7. Yesterday
  8. Not willing to give up current gmail address. Tech savvy Canadian cousin ( also uses gmail, and didn't get this message), working on decoding it for me. My sister didn't get it either. ?? But thankyou.
  9. Last time I looked at Civil Code I think there was one maximum increase for rentals under $5,000 pesos p/m and a different scale for those over $5,000. That said, very few LL's or tenants know this code, and often LL's simply ignore it anyway..... taking position " don't like it? Move!". Many have it built into their leases, with terms/ times / increases stipulated. If you don't, forget about "going to court" over it. You don't have that many years left!
  10. It was built as a Gigante (far superior IMO) and operated as such for a few years. Then Gigante all over Mexico was bought out by Soriana and they renovated the building and moved in. I can't remember either but was a thrill to not have to go all the way to Guad ( used bus in those days) to Gigante!!
  11. Soriana history: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Soriana https://www.organizacionsoriana.com/acerca_de_nosotros_en.html https://www.company-histories.com/Organizacion-Soriana-SA-de-CV-Company-History.html
  12. Not 100% sure when it became Soriana but I think it was about 2005 For sure not before 2004
  13. It was much earlier than 2006 but do not know what year. Oh well.
  14. Don't remember the year - but was fairly new as I recall in 2006? Superlake was open in 1997 and the store was half the depth it is now... Paz Liquors also expanded to double their size. But no...only Superlake, abbarotes were much more common and El Torrito was also open but very small and Bugambilias plaza was only one story - Scallions was Salvadors, etc etc.
  15. I second for Dr. Daniel Briseno.
  16. Also La Christiana park has lots of pick-up sports and folks just hanging around
  17. In all fairness, LCS has undergone significant changes since 2001: 23 years ago. Just like everything here has changed since then. With the position of Executive Director created several years ago things have improved significantly and steadily with a strong focus on involving the Mexican community. Unfortunately, in the last year or two things have been backsliding and returning to the bad old days. Members should not give up on LCS. We need to work to change it for the better and reverse the damage. If you care about LCS you should think about going to the board meetings and see what they get up to. I recently saw that the details of these meetings now appear as a notice on the main page of the LCS web site.
  18. I told my wife about this thread and I asked her that she donate my body to science but she has already made plans to donate my body to the Museo de las Momias in Guanajuato so she can visit and nag me. 💀
  19. I am out of town until 2nd week in May. I will check with you then.
  20. Within the last year or so I have taken 3 excellent classes at LCS - one on getting my driver's license - the instructor even went with us that day to help - I think everyone passed - advanced care planning - and last week on medicare in Mx (by a US medicare specialist) (which helped me understand what could NOT be covered)
