Garden Club
On Wednesday, June 16th, the Lake Chapala Garden Club will tour the unique garden of Shirley Burden with commentary by designer John Worthington. Shirley&rsqu;ys half acre garden is said to be as close to a Japanese landscape as we can accomplish in Ajijic. Photographs of the "before" will be displayed so members can appreciate the process of this beautiful creation. Each month LCGC visits a different garden thereby adding and enhancing the knowledge of the members.
Following the tour, the group will enjoy a special lunch at La Nueva Posada where two more programs take place. Using plants as floral design and decorating plants for hostess gift-giving are subjects to be covered in the 20 minute interior feature. Then, the much-anticipated botanical program presented by Laurie Smart will cover topical subjects of interest to all gardeners.
Summer Brunch
The first Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic contest was held 13 years ago and it has occurred ever since. With 46 members, CASA is currently meeting the third Monday of each month at Armando&rsqu;ys Restaurant in Hotel Danza del Sol.
This month, the owner and chef of Borsalino&rsqu;ys Restaurant, Jim Borzoni, will present the feature program preceding the contest. Sharing tips on preparing Italian-style cuisine, Jim may reveal his tenderizing technique for calamari steak as well.
