DYING WITH DIGNITY—Everyone hailed the new Jalisco State law that obliges medical professionals to administer pain-killing medication to terminally ill patients. This brings to mind a friend, a La Floresta resident who, at her husband’s death, remarked that the hardest thing she had endured was watching him die in pain because at that point in time, morphine was not available to the dying. Perhaps to really appreciate this new law one would have had to experience the alternative.
