Guad-Chapala HWY Radar Cameras-They are up

20 October 2012 - 12:38 PM

Just for your info.I was seeing signs are per earlier posts but had not seen any cameras. I have found only one radar cam. It is on one of the first  pedestrian bridge after the airport on the way to Chapala from  Guad. It is actually on the pedestrian bridge. You can see a big lense above the left ( fast) lane) I was looking under and on the side but not there.

I have looked like crazy for any others and have not found any on this highway. Anyone else spot one??

Not that I speed or anything.......................

One of the bad points of having a Mexican car.

Little by litle the cars in Guad are putting plastic ( anti-camera??) over their plates.

Why I live here

24 April 2012 - 09:34 AM

Why I think it is worth it to live here.
We all have been reminded of the bad, and with the internet it seems to inundate us. It seems that some people on this board are set on saying how bad it is in Chapala/Mexico. On another post just price and weather were mentioned as reasons to live here. That would not be enough for me….
  • People- Nicer than anywhere I have ever visited ( Generally ) . Actually let you into traffic if you ask permission. In other countries I have lived in you get run over.
  • Weather
  • Food- This maybe should be number one. Tacos, Burritos, fresh made tortillas, chiles…. wow
  • Price
  • Quality of life
  • Location for both international and national travel- I can be at the beach in 2.5 hours and pine forest in 1 hour.
  • Rhythm of life
  • Beauty
  • Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. You can actually buy fresh squeezed juice.
  • Freedom in some ways not allowed in some countries e.g. It is usually ok to be politically incorrect.  Fat people are fat, white people are white, blacks are black etc. and it is ok.
  • The majority of the people actually like Americans. The funny thing is, is that Mexico has more reason to hate Americans than most countries, but the Mexicans do not, and are actually very patient with foreigners who usually do not speak the language and are very often rude to them.
  • Adventure- Mexico has always been a place for foreigners with a little adventure in their hearts.   ( Maybe a little too much lately, but it has always been here)
  • Beautiful colonial cities
  • History
  • Beautiful Girls – When I was single…. I have not seen any since I have been married…strange.
  • I like to drive fast and there are no points here for licenses.
  • Health Care
  • Low Property Taxes
  • Beautiful places to visit. Natural, Historic, Pre-Columbian etc.
  • Services- You can actually get people to do stuff for you. Remember the picture of Tiger woods wife worth millions pumping her own gas into her Escalade. What is that about??? Not here…………
Etc.
This just came to my mind really quick this morning. I felt I needed to remind myself of why I like it here as after reading this web board you would think it was not a nice place to live. I live here because I like it.
