  1. I believe you are talking about a website called newbeginnnigs mexico.com... A charming couple who lived in the village of Ajjijicn ear the lake and malecon if that sounds familiar. Unfortunately she died several years ago although ger husband is still here - different location though.
  2. Fines and confiscation was posted by me several months ago - this is what we were told at the inspection station when we asked. But it didn't seem as they were going to be looking for you.....it was all possible...so don't get stopped or have an accident. Of course there is nothing to prevent the government from setting up check point at some time. But it did sound as though multiple fines were possible if you didn't act the first time you were fined.
  3. Mine showed up yesterday at Multiva...a couple of days late.
  4. Will be interesting to see the different artists from previous years. I hadn't noticed until artsnob posted in two other threads about the increased prices for artist space. From 100 pesos for a one day event or 150 for a two day event - the above prices are quite a bit more. Even though it does benefit LCS community outreach programs there are undoubtedly many local artists who will not be able to afford the increase.
  5. Spaces used to be, until recently, 100 pesos for one day show and 150 pesos for two day show. Inflation??? Quite a change.

  7. Dr. Camacho's eye clinic, where she does surgery, in Guadalajara belongs to her mother, evidently another very well known and experienced opthamologist. My cataract was done there several years ago and I don't recall all the equipment but the clinic is highly regarded.
  8. Texas not here yet either. Will call.
  9. But why don't we talk about (or not) the increasing monthly deficit for the year?
  10. FROM TERRY VIDAL To all of my supporters, I should really say the supporters of LCS, I want to say Thank You! We all share a common concern for an organization that has touched each and everyone one of us deeply. We’re in a new era however, as U2 put it, “where fact is fiction and TV is reality.” I just sent the following to the LCS nominating committee: “Since I am being blackmailed by a close associate of Yoly and Steve, you win. I withdraw my name as a candidate for LCS President.” I apologize for letting all of you down. However there is an alternative, former candidate Shelley Edson has agreed to be re-nominated from the floor at the EM. This sheds a new and untainted hope on LCS’ future. Shelley announced that she and I shared similar platforms, simply put - reforming an LCS that has become a magnificent sham. LCS has become a place where financial transparency is non-existent and falsely portrayed. The numbers given, in the press and other media, state gross revenue not net receipts and with respect to Concerts in the Park, are deliberately hidden from the members. This is a place where the CEO/President/Executive Director runs his own business on LCS property. Don’t be fooled, demand the final 2023 audit, and 100% timely and transparent reporting in all financial matters including cost overruns on the restaurant and bathroom capital projects. You’ll be appalled. Don’t allow the former Executive Director, Luis, to be the scapegoat! Today LCS’ financial straits are worse than the “covid emergency,” and Yoly (read Steve) has never addressed the assertions put forth during this campaign. I endorse Shelly Edson and strongly encourage you to support and vote for her. Only you can bring an end to this puppet show. A vote for Yoly is a vote for Steve. A vote for Shelley is a vote for LCS. T. Vidal
  11. This was written by Garry Musgrave and reprinted with permission.....He has contributed to other threads on this site. I had intended to expand with my own experiences working with Terry Vidal over my 24 years as an LCS voluntee but my experiences and feelings are similar. Terry is exactly what LCS needs at this point in time... I resigned in June. go to ChangeLCS.com and spread the word "However, I am extremely concerned about what has been happening at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) for the last year or so. The AGM in March was the last straw. Since then, a group of concerned volunteers has been working to improve some key problems we see, by attending board meetings and raising questions. Unfortunately, the minor gains we've made in increasing transparency with the members were like pulling teeth. We were treated rudely, and many of our larger concerns were dismissed with misdirection and misinformation. I am pleased to see that Terry Vidal is running for LCS President at the upcoming special election this month. I have been involved with LCS for 18 years, and was an active volunteer for 14 of those. I have known and worked with Terry Vidal since he started as the first Executive Director, until he left to pursue his business interests almost 12 years later. I have also experienced and worked with those who followed him. In my opinion, he is very knowledgeable – not just about LCS, but about administration and fund raising in general. He has a deep commitment to the LCS membership and the community, he is honest and ethical, and he has a very practical approach to problem solving. On his website (ChangeLCS.com), he has not only identified the key problems LCS has right now, but has presented a concise action plan to address each of them. It's one thing to complain, it's quite another to offer solutions! If someone doesn't turn things around, I, and others, feel that LCS will fall off the precipice. I am confident that his presidency can help restore the dwindling membership numbers, and bring back donors who have abandoned LCS. Because of my lengthy experience with LCS and Terry Vidal, I fully support his bid for LCS President, and believe that he will be one of the best we've had."
  12. The Admin Director as well as the Development Director are included in the three mentioned in the original post. Their last day is tomorrow. The third was Luis Pacheco, Executive Director, who left in April.
  13. Yes there was. But the earlier resignations were related to the current situation.
  14. on the carretera underneath the gym across from Vinos America
  15. In case some of you did not receive the flyer below - in reference to above post. It is from a small member only group.
