#142542 East Indian Restaurant/ Ingredients

Posted by the walkers on 07 September 2009 - 07:26 AM

i cook indian food every week here in ajijic. i retired from a career as a tabla player and ate in indian restaurants several times a week. sometimes i'm tempted to open an indian restaurant, but then i think,"what do i need that headache for?". the hardest thing to find here is dal. what we found that is almost indistinguishable from pink dal is dried yellow split peas. basmati rice is expensive, but available at superlake, etc. ginger, cumin, black mustard seeds, coriander, whole wheat tortillas make great chapatis, are all here. i find that most mexicans that try indian foods like them. of course, some people only like the kind of food that they are used to,but to many it's an interesting take on familiar foods. in guadalaljara is a restaurant run by the krishna's called vrindaban, another called goa, and an expensive place run by paul bhalla(?) in colonia provedencia. happy eating!

#142202 WHEN YOU EAT OUT WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE FOODS?

sorry, but jalisco isn't even the best for mexican food. to say that you must love mexican food to live here is a total crock. certainly it's easier to buy fresh and eat local if you do, but even in the usa we ate mostly asian style foods. if we ate like our neighbors here we'd start to look like them too and after a while we would be prone to diabetes, etc. just like they are.. a constant diet of tortillas, beans and coca cola is not our idea of a healthy lifestyle.

#140797 Printer Cartridges

best place to get your print cartridge filled--and probably fixed--is eco print. they are on the corner of guadalupe victoria and encarnacion rosas in ajijic. that means that they are one block towards the lake behind pharmacia guadalajara and lloyd's. it cost us 70p per unit and the points were cleaned as well. the owner, monica and her assistant, danny both speak english. good luck.
