Anybody else have their service down? Msg on TV says receiver is trying to connect but can't. This sometimes happens when there are a lot of sunspots interfering with reception, but I do not know if that is the case now. Usually the problem is intermittent but my service outage is continuous since about 1 pm.

This place recently opened west of Ajijic on the carretera and when I stopped by today I was pleasantly surprised to find a good array of choices ranging from fish tacos with slaw and tomato relish (which I had) to full dinners of steak, chicken, fish and shrimp as well as hamburgers. It's being operated by the guy who built the small plaza it is in and who runs the decorative iron work and art shop in that plaza. Prices ranged from 30p each for the fish tacos to 120 p. for steak.

It's on the west side of Ajijic, west of the Oxxo/Pemex just past the entrance to La Reserva on the left, hours 11-8, closed Mon. Used to be a hamburger place there.

A have a BOSe stereo system that is about 8 years old and is in fine working condition. Since moving here, it has always been hooked into the TV so the sound provided on the TV is really good, and I also play movies and CDs on it. Just replaced the TV and the Star Choice technician tells me I cannot hook the BOSE system into the new TV because the inputs on the BOSE are old-fashioned and will not accommodate the cables on the new TV, so I have to get a new home entertainment system.

Two questions: (1) is he correct in re to the cables? (2) If I have to get a new home entertainment system, he says BOSE is too expensive and the cheaper ones at WalMart are just fine--what do YOU recommend?

The Ajijic Advisory Committee is helping Delegado Hector gather gifts to give mothers who attend the free party at the bullring in Ajijic on Sunday April12. He is looking for trinkets (earrings, lipsticks, key rings, hair clips) as well as nicer gifts like irons or cookware. These are given out to lucky mothers who attend. If you would like to help, take your donations to the Delegado's office on the SW corner of the plaza (go in the door facing the plaza and up the stairs) or PM me for other arrangements.

Anyone else able to donate a cake? We are still far short of the needs for Dia del Nino. Delegado Hector is expecting 2,000 to 3,000 kids for this free event. If you can donate a cake (the larger the better) please bring it to the Charro ring at 2:00 this Sun. April 28 OR you can bring in to my house before that and I will deliver if you PM me.
