We are becoming reconciled to the near-sure fact that we will have to drive north of the border to sell our 2006 Japan-built Honda CRV when our FM-2's become about-to-expire in September. No one has said anything about a rational strategy to avoid getting 50 cents or less on the dollar of value for one's car. Our CRV is said to be worth $14,000 USD by our insurance company (ie, it is insured for that amount in the case of it being totaled). How much should we hope to get for it in Texas or Arizona and from whom? How does one minimize the loss? Good strategies are welcomed and would probably be popular reading about now.

TioCorp recommendations
15 February 2013 - 01:35 PM
We are about to recommend that friends of ours contact TioCorp for help in nationalizing (to Jalisco) a Texas-plated car. The owner has dual US/Mexican citizenship. Can anyone who has worked with them recommend TioCorp's services? Thanks in advance.
Jalisco plates for Texas-plated car
11 February 2013 - 05:49 PM
We all know that lots of changes are taking place for expats who have US state plated cars in Mexico. We also know, at best, that those who can register their 8- to 10-year-old NAFTA-built car in Jalisco (or whatever Mex. state) will have to start paying Mexican insurance rates that are about double what they pay now as "tourists." BUT...I have a dual citizenship Mexican/US friend who owns a Texas-plated vehicle that is about to turn 10 years old and that she would like to register in Jalisco. She brought the car into Mexico showing her US passport. She bought Mexican insurance in Texas and has done so for a number of years.
Is there a process by which she can register this car as Jaliscan as a Mexican citizen? If so, where should she go? What should she do?
Thanks for any help with this different twist on a quite current topic.

Where is Roger?
19 October 2012 - 10:13 PM
I have had an aquaintence named Roger (and his wife) who I haven't seen here this year. I would like to know where and how they are. They moved to Lakeside in about 2005 and built a new house in Ajijic or San Antonio a couple of years ago. They bought and were last seen by me driving a yellow Smart car. Roger is a gregarious and nice person and I'm a little concerned not to have seen them. Any information about them would be appreciated. Thanks.
