  1. Any US plated car you buy that's currently in Mexico with a permit would have to be driven back to the border and the permit canceled. You then do the deal in the US and the other party can drive your car back to Mexico. That's the legal way. I am of course aware that this is sometimes not done but if you use an attorney, I'm certain this will be the process...unless laws have been changed that I am unaware of.
  2. Or Krakatoa in 1883. World wide temperatures dropped significantly.
  3. No, for some reason I sometimes skip your posts. You forgot "Bless your heart"
  4. The Board should never be involved in the planning of the AGM. The meeting is for the Members and a committee should be established each year of only members to organize the upcoming meeting. In addition, a knowledgeable Parlimentarian should be appointed to make on the spot decisions about the legality of any motions.
  5. I also had an endoscopy while in the hospital in January. I was concerned about being awake and was told that isn't done anymore. Mine was like yours and was awake shortly after with only maybe a 2 hour recovery which was mainly hoarseness. I was given propofol which is now the Go To choice for this procedure. As long as given by a competently trained anesthesiologist it's quite safe. It's also the drug that killed Michael Jackson given by a doctor who was willing to use it to help Jackson sleep which isn't a legitimate use.
  6. Not exactly on topic but...I have recently read several allegations that Didi drivers are not closing out the ride when dropping off the client. People are saying they get a much larger debit to their CC and when making a complaint are unsuccessful. This is primarily in a PV Facebook group so perhaps is mostly cruise ship people who can't really do much. Although you would think they would be the last group to be using Didi. Any local reports of same?
  7. Sitting at my computer in Alamo, Tx and using the Uber app at 8:28 AM there is a 4 minute wait and the price to our old B&B in Ajijic is USD 28.10. You don't have to be at the airport to use the app from just about anywhere.
  8. Yes,of course. It's something that can be referred to when another country demands you do SOMETHING
  9. Read the Medicare rules and you will quickly learn that Medicare does not pay for treatment outside the US except under very strict language which sometimes grants coverage to short term travelers for specific reasons. Anyone who is submitting anything else to Medicare for payment would have it denied. Of course if the paperwork indicated the procedure was actually performed in the US, when it wasn't, might well slip by for a time. If you are smart you don't want to be anywhere near anything like this when the trap springs shut. Allowing something illegal to continue after it has been discovered is a common tactic. Gathering substantial proof is one reason and following the chain up to the highest levels is another. But you sound like someone who is interested in finding ways to get around rules so it won't be hard for you to learn who is involved When you write "can somehow provide services under Medicare" you already know it ain't evactly kosher. Good luck.
  10. ...and we were very happy to sell it to you Tom. We built it from scratch after buying the lot from Beverly and Allyn Hunt. It served us well being contiguous to our Casa Flores Bed and Breakfast. We loved that experience but after 7 years and over 2000 guests it was time to sell both and move to a new adventure at the beach. It took much longer to sell the Casa Flores property but we had learned from Mexicans what they do when a home does not sell in a year...they raise the price since it must be worth more. We followed their recipe and raised the price by 50K after a year and it sold within 6 weeks. It was a win-win for both parties since the buyers did not have enough cash but had a wonderful condo in PV that was added to the deal and away we all went. And the pool you and your wife added to the house made it a self contained resort. You did good selling it as well as we did selling it.
  11. Not trying to hijack anything but...does your "handle" have anything to do with the late great author W E B Griffin?
  12. I think you are confusing insurance against loss of pesos versus the loss of value of said peso. That would probably involve a hedge in the futures market.
  13. Our one and only cruise was at first an enjoyable experience that turned into the trip from hell...not really that bad but... Winds came up that started to give the Captain some problems. The idea was to dock in Chapala at the end of the cruise but it became obvious that would be tricky. I forget what the 6 of us had reservations for but they seemed to be plenty late enough for a good cushion but it was not to be. The Captain had to finally find the most protected area he could and bring the boat in sideways into about knee deep water. It was controlled chaos as everyone had to disembark into the water and wade to shore. Then it was a fairly short walk to where we had parked. Wet clothes and footwear made it impossible to go directly to whatever we had made reservations for so 3 couples called it a day. No injuries and a good story to tell for everyone.
  14. That was my memory also. He became the owner following a minor "confrontation" with his previous boss/owner that allegedly involved a pistol. The Old Days.
  15. Bingo! The main cause of salitre. Arena del rio is the Go To material used in the Chapala area.
