  1. I never said it was the "US' doing". But they've been blasting all over the news here in the States that it was accomplished with "US intelligence and surveillance and technology". How much of that are the narcos going to tolerate before lashing out at the US expat and tourist communities? Think about it. My Mexican family in Joco were already reporting rumors of gringos being on the "retribution list". Kudos to Claudia for going after those pr**ks. Probably the biggest effort of any administration so far but I'd rather the US stay out of it for our sake. Only a matter of time if this cooperation continues.
  2. Jocotepec was on fire yesterday, everything shut down. I've been warning for years that the US better stay out of Mexico's internal affair otherwise there will be repercussions. Stay safe everyone!
  3. Thank you guys! Always so helpful! Will make note of this. PS Forgive the double post! Don't know how I did it but results from computer ineptitude!
  4. We heard through the grapevine that there is an excellent source of fresh meat for buying in Ajijic? A butcher shop or meat market or several? We are in Joco so unfamiliar. If true, name number and location? The meat in Joco is sourced by the same livestock vendor who supply all the shops and some of it can be tough as leather. Heard that was not the case in Ajijic. Looking for some tender Arrachera........ Thank you all!

  6. Thank you again Ibarra! I found the posts with your help and my questions answered. Looks like no light rail to Chapala after all.......
  7. Thank you ibarra. I can't find any link to the previous posts/discussions.
  8. I've heard conflicting reports that they plan on extending Linea 5 from the airport to central Guad, in the other direction as well linking airport and Chapala? Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? Thank you!
  9. Thank you for the tips Mostlylost. That was going to be my next questions. Any recommendations for architects and engineers?
  10. So sorry to hear this! He and his first wife had bad luck with several "health care providers" in the area. The experiences and knowledge he shared on this platform were invaluable! He will be sorely missed!
  11. Hello Everyone! Can anyone recommend or know of a Master Abañil who can read mechanical house plans and build from them? Personal experience or other? Want to avoid the "middle man" expense of a contractor by doing that function myself. Already have several sub-contractors lined up. Just wondering if the community has had any experience with a fantastic Abañil or several of them? Thank you!
  12. Thank you RickS! That is exactly what I'm trying to find out. Getting straight info here can be akin to pulling teeth sometimes! But thanks to everyone for trying!
  13. Thank you for your replies but we are not concerned about having the old numbers re-issued. My question is: Can we pay for a new service (new phone number) for an ENTIRE YEAR AHEAD OF TIME so we can return the following year, same month a year later, to renew the service in person? In other words, make one payment each year to renew? Thanks again!
  14. Sorry to revive this semi-old tread: We've used the pay as you go Amigo plans while in Mexico and then let them expire once we return to States. Now we are in need of a year round Mexican telephone service/phone number. My question is: Can we pay an entire year of service with Telcel (or others) that could be renewed in person at the same date each year? Example: Initiate/pay for the service in January 2026 for an entire year ahead and return by January 2027 the following year to renew in person? Thank you for your help and expertise!
  15. Excellent information John and thank you also Jim!
