About Me

We are Gary and Carol, a retired couple most recently from Vermont. Gary has lived in Oklahoma, Washington State, California, and New England. He also spent two years in the Peace Corps, Philippines. Carol spent her early years traveling with a Marine Corps family, including two years in Hawaii. She lived in San Diego from 6 years of age until moving with Gary and children to New England.

Both of us are retired teachers and principals who enjoy finally having lots of time together to read, talk, and learn about our community. Gary loves the Patriots and Red Sox, plus other teams and sports. Carol enjoys computers and writing.

We have recently moved to San Juan Cosala to have a more realistic, Mexican experience. Wish them luck with their fledging Spanish.

In need of a good juicer

Anyone have a good juicer that s/he wants to sell? Or recommendations on where to buy one. I need one that will easily get the juice out of the great fruit and veggies around here without me having to do all the prep work or end up with a lot of pulp in the juice My blender just isn't cutting it ... or squeezing it, in this case.

Need Feedback on Friends Itinerary

We haven't been to Merida, Uxmal, Chichen Itza. We have two retired teacher friends coming to Mexico for the first time. They have put together a plan for their travels and would like any feedback about it. So, I'm posting what they intend to do. Any ideas or concerns to pass on would be appreciated.

Tuesday 3/5 Drive to Uxmal. Night at Hacienda Uxmal
Wednesday 3/6 Drive Back to Merida. Night at Intercontinental Presidente
Thursday 3/7 Day excursion by bus from Merida to Celestun. Night at Intercontinental
Friday 3/8 Bus to Chichen Itza. Night at Villas Arqueologicas
Saturday 3/9 Bus to Merida. Night at Intercontinental
Sunday 3/10 Limo to airport. Fly to Guadalajara 6 nights at Quinta San Jose

tele cable vs. telmex

We are just getting Tele Cable in our part of SJC. We don't have TV now (use Netflix for occasional watching). We'd appreciate any insights into the advantages and disadvantages of switching from TelMex to cable for phone and internet services. Plus, whether you find the cable TV of any value.
