Excellent, interesting thread.  Only one stinker in the lot of posters!  Thanx to all for your very thoughtful and informative comments.  I'm not planning to return to my "homeland", but all the remarks helped crystallize why I came in the first place, how what I miss about the USA could be a misperception or could be different now anyway, why I brought so many possessions with me and am glad I did, etc.  I still feel blessed, every day, for the life I have here.

Is it a hardware thing or a configuration/software problem?

 

Not sure; could be either or both.  I know how to drive the car; I just don't know much about what's under the hood.  It's just not operating efficiently; seems to have lots of frustrating glitches.

Just wanted to say that I've read ALL the many replies, and thanx to all who have contributed, and thanx as well for the chart sent by Lumieretoo, very interesting.  

OK, MtnMama, that's a good idea.  Now, I know where Benno's place used to be before he left, but is the place still in the same spot now that Benno is gone?  Sorry, I don't get out much, and am on foot & bus, so I like to know where I'm going ahead of time!

Thank you both for your replies.  How far before the bus station is the Kodak in Chapala?  I have no scanner, printer, or photo paper, so I think it would make sense for me to find a reasonably priced place to go in and have this done.  I am in West Ajijic, near Ocampo and Rio Bravo.  As another option, I wonder if there is a decent computer place of some sort that might do this, but I will check out Kodak if there are no other suggestions.  Any other comments appreciated, and thanks again from Carolina   :-)
