How to remove polyurethane

19 April 2013 - 03:11 PM

As most of you know after my friend passed away in Sept. I  moved into the house my friend rented for 17 years.  They did a lot of improvements to the house without charging the landlord.  Nice most of them.  However the house has a bar which is nice but my friends put photos of family on the bar and poured polyurethane over them.  The polyurethane has cracked in a few places and is just plain ugly.  I would like someone to remove it and refinish the top of the bar.  Not concerned about preserving the photos as the family has copies.  Any suggestions?

Recycling Plastics

Serving Chapala, Mexico & The World

222-A Hidalgo-Carretera,

Riberas del Pilar, Jalisco Mexico

(close to the 7-11)

Doors Opening Soon!

Our recycling center is centrally located in Riberas del Pilar and will be collecting, processing and distributing recycled plastic products such as:

PET Drink Bottles (clear plastic)

Mixed Plastic Bottles

Natural HDPE - (milk bottles)

Jazz HDPE - (mixed colour)

We will collect, reprocess and sell the byproduct of more than 90% of the post-consumer plastic in our area. We strongly advocate the recycling of all post-consumer plastic bottles. Our sustainable process will use no toxic substances and produce no toxic waste.

Our goal is simple -- we want to increase the amount of plastic material that is recycled in Mexico. We will do this by sponsoring education workshops, representation in community and cultural events and webinars designed to help local community members and state solid waste officials learn more about the technology of plastics recycling and the markets for recycled material.

When you drop a bottle into a recycle bin, it will come back as something new. By recycling you are helping to prevent global warming, create jobs, reduce pollution, and protect wildlife. But here is the problem. For every one bottle that is recycled, two are thrown away. We want to change this equation.

We will have a "drive by/drop off" bin section in front of the warehouse for those who wish to donate plastic bottle product. 10% of all donated product will be used to support local charities.

Funny Experience At Tony's this AM

02 April 2013 - 05:23 PM

This morning I went to Super Lake mainly to use the ATM and pick up a few items.  Walking back to my car, I thought I think I'll have lunch at Tony's.as I like it and haven't been for awhile.  Knowing it wasn't quite 12 noon yet, the doors were open and there was a lady cleaning tables, etc. There was no way she wanted me there as it wasn't noon yet..  Oh well, just got in my car and came home.  Upon looking at my clock in my car, It was 11:46.  Since I don't wear a watch, I just thought I was way too early.  But 14 minutes?  She could have told me to have a seat which I would have done with or without a beverage.

I'm not angry as I an sure she was just following orders.  Tony is not at fault here either.  He told the cleaning lady that his restaurant opens at noon.  She is just following Tony's instructions to keep her job.  A job that doesn''t pay much either..

I will definately go back to Tony's.  Forum members please don't bash Tony's based on my comments.

Who does the best hair coloring in Chapala?

20 March 2013 - 07:00 PM

A few months ago while in California, I decided to get my hair cut short and not have it colored.  So I have gray hair.  In the last few days I've decided I don't like the gray (think my vanity kiicked in).  Anyway I am looking for a good person who can color my hair for me.  While I loved the hair cut, it's just not me.  Need someone who can style hair also.  Only have had my hair cut here once and what a disaster that was.  Won't go back to her again.  Anyway any suggestions are welcome and will be taken into consideration.  As always, thank you.  Jeanne
