In Topic: Caution-Armed Robbery-Airport cutoff going NOB

10 April 2012 - 07:15 AM

To clarify a little on a couple of the questions posted, the individuals who were robbed left their house in Upper Ajijic at 8 AM.  They took the new cutoff just past the airport, heading to Laredo.

He told me that after a week if they hurt my feet to return to him and he will 'adjust' them.  I had a slight adjustment done on the first pair, and now they are great.  The key to me was walking around a little in his 'office' before you leave the first time.  His original fit is close, but he can make those tight spots fit perfectly if you give him a little time when you pick them up.  My Spanish is zero, and his English is about the same.  I am extremely satisfied with his work.  He told me to return any time if they start to hurt.  That is customer service.

Thanks to all for responding.  I checked most of the stores listed above, with no results.  I ended up walking the streets of Chapala this afternoon checking the shoe stores.  One store gladly handed me one, and 'free of charge'.  Problem solved.  You can guess correctly that next time I need shoes, I will return there.

I picked up my second pair from him today.  Attached is a link talking about Sr. Trajillo and his work is excellent.

In Topic: Santander ATM

20 December 2011 - 05:16 PM

I had similar experiences last month using the B of A ‘ATM’ card at Santander (suddenly ATM fees for using their ATM machine).  Just a couple of weeks before the incidents, B of A had merged the Idaho/Washington (NW) region into the main B of A system, and re-issued folks in the NW region new B of A  cards, with new numbers.  I spent 3+ hours talking to the local Santander bank folks, the Mexico Santander main office, the B of A MX rep, and with the U.S. B of A customer service rep somewhere.   Finally, a supervisor at the B of A customer service office said that there was a glitch in the system and that the new account number was not being correctly accepted by the ATM machine.  I was told it was not a B of A, nor a Santander issue, but an issue with the ATM machine and the company that services it.  It is an ‘ATM machine fee’, not a bank fee.  Long and short of it, they reactivated the old card and now I am not charged the ATM fee.  However, with B of A still sending me notices (email and phone calls) about the old cards being invalid on 17 January, I have no idea if this solution will remain.  Recommend that you talk to a US customer service rep, and be patient.  I did not receive credit for the two ATM machine charges, but so far the fix is working.
