Guest irolbackwards Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 pero-but pedo-fart perro-dog So many slip ups happened w/in the first 6 months of learning, initially, how to speak Spanish. Although, I'm learning everyday and never have a conversation w/out asking "como se dice..."? solidifying this new language. Arriving at a ladies breakfast I was feeling awkward, not knowing but 3 Mexican ladies in a group of several hundred. I began a conversation with my Mexican "cunada", sister in law. Suddenly, off she went! Leaving me, standing there, wondering what I had said. She bounced from one girlfriend to the other giggling. WHAT COULD I HAVE SAID?! Finally, some months later around the "anillo" situation she explains(in Spanish), "you said fart" I'm thinking, "What?!" I don't even know that word! "Yes, you said, 'fart', in Spanish". Ella, me esplicó que le dije, pedo! GOOD GRIEF! How would I have know that if I over pronounced the word pero it'd turn into pedo! Gimmie a break! hehe I know others that had a terrible time of not rolling their "r"'s and would say "dog"! Learning Spanish can be a lot of fun, if you're willing to have a good time doing it.
