Guest PalapaGirl
Which street in San Juan Cosalá leads to the Malecón? Also, someone said there's a great restaurant in SJC. Could anyone offer a name and directions? Thanks!
Ginger
The restaurant is Viva Mexico. I can drive there but don't know how to give directions. Get the roasted vegetable salsa if you go.
LakeViews
Turn left at the only stop light in SJC, when traveling west. That road will lead past the church, town square and goes to the Malecon. Viva Mexico is one of the best restaurants lakeside. The roasted salsa is great. Chiles en nogada , rose petal chicken, and their pork mole are among my favorites. The owner Augustin is a local hero that tirelessly helps the community. There is also a nice palapa restaurant right on the edge of the malecon. Great shrimp sarendaeado ( I know my spelling is not quite correct), they also have a nice shrimp rellano which has both shrimp and fish. It is more adventurous than viva Mexico but the view, food and location are great. First palapa that one walks by. Enjoy!
LakeViews
To get to viva Mexico, one would walk ( the road is currently being redone ) from the town square west about 2 blocks. Or one can park on the highway and walk down - traveling two more blocks past the stop light first.
callejera
But don't go now! We tried to get to Viva Mexico on Tuesday for dinner and the street the restaurant is on is a huge construction zone with cranes and earth movers, piles of dirt and sand everywhere And Viva Mexico was closed. Ginger
It will be open for just this weekend but closed again next week for the road construction.
