How much are you asking for your sheets?

The whole topic of thread count is super-charged. Check out Google. I have 300-count from Sears here in Mexico, and they are fairly good at $100 dollars a set, but they are not even close to Egyptian cotton.

There was a brief segment on TV last week about how "higher thread counts" often just mean thinner thread. What they did not cover in the show was the density issue: packed too close together, and sheets can be hotter than heck. (They set up two beds in a park: one with 300 and one with 1,000 count sheets. Then got passersby to get on board. The overwhelming majority preferred the 300 count (they did not describe the brand names or the quality of the cotton on the show).

Ordered some 300 count from WalMart in the States a few years back, and they were great.

NOTE that the CostCo sheets here in Guadalajara are sateen.

have mailed myself sheets/towels from USA to ajijic using postal. international priority mail. there is a flat rate box but the largest size is not big enough. i used to pack a carton & send to myself. postal would bring to house, show passport/sign. put the value UNDER 100 usd. write on customs slip "not for commerial purposes" "personal items" it wasnt cheap to send, but i did buy multiple sets on sale (wamsutta, all cotton). one heavy weight queen quilt did cost me $54 usd to mail (7 years ago). still easier than shopping here, i think i broke even w/the total price. like the fact ajijic postal delivered it to my door. worked this system till 3 yrs ago.

Costco has some great sheets with high thread count :)

Bought two sets one year ago and one is already ruined and can't be used anymore.

If you are ever in the States and near an IKEA, their sheets are actually really comfortable, and breathe well. I had a pair of 400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that were super soft and I loved, but they were not good in the spring/summer. However, my cat put an end to them one day trying to get up on the bed but missing (she'd had a lot of catnip) and putting some ventilation in them. What was left I plan on turning into nice soft pillow cases. Lots of pillow cases.

T-shirt material sheets actually breathe well, are cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and fit the Mexican mattresses and the US mattresses.
